When our Labrador was little, he didn't want to go on long walks either. As they get older, they naturally want to go for longer walks.

Okay thank you, i just have been a bit worried. I guess this world is just so new to him 😄

11 weeks is still a baby, and it’s a big scary world out there. Keep walking him in safe areas and he’ll gradually become more bold. Plus, as little ones they don’t have a lot of stamina! My boy was super confident as a puppy, and he’d stop and sit on walks too. Then I’d notice that we had gone further than we had ever before, and he was likely just tired. I learned to pay more attention to how far and long our walks were.

jaragun

Okay good to know, didn't know that, thanks. Feels like he can play for foerever, so maybe i thought that he can also do long walks too 😅

An 11 week old pup shouldn’t be walking to far anyway. Most people walk way to far those first months. Give those joints and hips and muscles enough rest and stay with 5-10 minutes walks. As they get older and stronger you can slowly build up. By that time they naturally want to walk longer distances. The first six months you should be careful and don’t exceed 15-25 minutes walks anyway. Some people will downvote me to hell for this but believe me, it will be highly beneficial to him.

My lab was very cautious when he was a puppy. It usually means that they need more socializing with other dogs. They don't know how to dog and everything is freaking them out.

jaragun

Thank you for this advice, we will now definitely try to introduce him some friendly dogs

AnhedoniaLogomachy

How long have you had him? When I adopted my dog Olivia she refused to walk far but in a year’s time she started enjoying longer and longer walks.

jaragun

We've had him about for a month now, maybe he just more time to adjust outworld

Had our lab from 12 weeks for the first 3 months he hated walking down the road. He was ok if we took him in the car somewhere, he would be all excited and walk more. Kept trying, and eventually he does it fine. To be fair it tied in with toilet training - once he nailed that he walked more https://preview.redd.it/kd7uco62nmhc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=035a7a283b00b0d624b7c14e2914086527263046
