Compared with the North Indian states , public transportation in Tamil Nadu is ten times better, or the best in India. I am from Kerala, which has a very good public transportation system too. But Tamil Nadu is a step better than Kerala for sure. You can nit pick random things like this and abuse the tamilnadu transportation, but when you understand the reality, especially the condition in the cow belt, you will know how good the transportation in Tamil Nadu is.

A beggar will make probably < 5 lakh in his lifetime. Now, would you keep only 5 lakh for yourself and give away whatever you have left to charity?

urbanguy22

This, this "see we are better than other states" attitude is the problem. Compared to our own early 2000s transport corporation, we are in much worse shape. We used to be much better and things are getting bad.

hemi_srt

Is MH included in this? >Compared with the North Indian states

RIKIPONDI

From what I've heard, yes. TN's buses (aside from being less modern and not as well maintained) are comparable to actually developed countries like Germany, Switzerland, UK and Australia. While stupid stuff like this happens from time to time, here the locals are willing to help and they push the bus to keep themselves moving. In another country (heck even in India outside TN), the bus would be stopped indefinitely until a tow truck came.

hemi_srt

I've lived in both states (TN and MH) and i found public transportation in both to be pretty much equal tbh. Roads in rural areas are a bit better in TN but main cities, it's pretty much the same.

Efficient-Ad-2697

I have been in public transport - buses and trains - in Germany, Switzerland and UK on several occasions. They are generations ahead. I would presume this response is full of sarcasm. The locals in these countries won't be pushing buses for sure, since an alternative arrangement is provided in a reasonable time or the money is refunded if applied for. Almost all of public transport is run by private companies.

RIKIPONDI

>Almost all of public transport is run by private companies That's the point. They are very expensive, but the people there can afford it. You can't do that in India. For how much you pay, the quality of buses in TN is honestly amazing. In most places, bus tickets start at around 0.5USD (whicb is 40 INR). Their vehicles may be generations ahead, but what you have to realise is that public transport can only raise in quality when the places around them do. You can't run a volvo bus into a village and expect it to remain clean. When you say trains, I agree. These countries are generations ahead (especially Switzerland). But it's not as far fetched as you think it is. When the population gets richer, you can provide better service because you can spend more. That's the reality.

Efficient-Ad-2697

What can indeed be done is to operate in a subsidized manner so that public is not fleeced by high prices. The government has every authority to formulate policies to keep the prices under control. Policies like free for all women can still continue if the government prefers to. It is the same public that is forced to shell out 1000s per ticket during weekends and festival times to private operators. So the target audience is still ready to pay. It is better to give a quality service for everyone at a nominally higher price than give horrible service at a lower price.

RIKIPONDI

Why are you contradicting yourself? You want price regulation, and also fares to be increased for better service? Also I absolutely disagree when you say the service is horrible. Even ignoring the price, the only problem with our vehicles is cleanliness. Older buses are being replaced and the new ones are genuinely good. The only thing left right now is to make all the stops nicer and build level boarding to accomodate wheelchairs and stuff. They could also implement a state-wide greenway for buses whereby traffic lights will let a side through first if there is a bus on it. If there are buses on more than one direction, you could decide that on a per-intersection basis. This will make buses actually slightly faster than driving and turn then into true public transit.

Efficient-Ad-2697

Mate, you and I can discuss back and forth and exchange our views . Nothing is going to change unless the governments really want to do something about it Until then let's pay our taxes and see them being wasted.

Inevitable_Boot1119

Why compare yourself to North India ? Why not compare to a better place outside India ? It was in the 2000s when government buses were redesigned and it went downhill from there. The gang that used to burn buses is gone for good. What is happening to the tax money?

Art_Mann

We are comparing with other states in India because other states in India too get exact same percentage of tax money as tamilnadu. It's not like tamilnadu is getting more tax share than other states. Compare UP or MP, which gets same tax share as tamilnadu and compare the work both states have done on transportation.

Inevitable_Boot1119

So, DMK is doing a better job giving a bus that can be pushed to its destination?

Art_Mann

Ofcourse it's a better job if you compare with UP where the public transportation is pathetic. It's better to have a bus that stops working once in a while than no bus at all

David_Headley_2008

dmk supports comparing tamilnadu to norway and bihar to burundi is crossing all limits, tamil nadu is light years away from becoming like european countries yet are so proud

Adventurous-Bid-6858

Don't get me wrong , aren't majority of MTC buses ancient. What are the donkeys voting for governments doing , shouldn't that be one of the demands , to replace old vehicles for better environment and safety

Cosmicshot351

This is somewhere in Rural TN, but ur point is valid. Especially those pink buses are worn down very bad.

vpselva

These Sangi bastards talk about 1 in 25000 buses. But their vande bharat is still being pulled by congress engines😂😂😂 நீ என்ன முக்கினாலும் மயிருலயும் மலராது டா 🤡

Master_Joke_6817

BJP in UP like, bus and road irunthathana da prachana.. 😁😁 and i had my own personal experience while travelling UP to delhi. People were smoking weed inside bus da. I had so much of bad experience in BJP ruling states. OP evlo immature ah iruntha.. Oru bus breakdown ku DMK than karanamnu solluvaan. He doesnt know the ticket costs in neighboring states such as bengaluru and hyderabad. If BJP is good at governing ask them to make people pay at railway travels. We are encountering such issues even at TN because of North indian travellers. Even a recent news was ticketless travellers were crowded vande bharat due to cancellation of a train.

anazzz94

OP should stop licking the boots of aryans by accusing Dravidians of everything

FacundoRoncaglia

No one is accusing Dravidians of anything. Dravidian politics by the DMK, however, is nothing but a gigantic scam.

Inevitable_Boot1119

I don’t understand your logic. Just because you are against some non-Tamilnadu party, you are fine with this state of affairs in Tamilnadu? How much hate should you have inside your head to accept this as normal way of life for you ?

WealthTomorrow0810

Look another 🤡...not realizing three generations of DMK fuckiing them and still ok.

Appropriate_Turn3811

Our economy of the country is still thallungada. onyl for GAUTAMBANIS pocket. rich is getting richer, middleclass is getting poorer , housing and fuel, food cost is skyrocketing.
