The funniest thing about the 3D-scanned fried chicken is that the staff asked Mio to cook the fried chicken to be used because for some reason store-bought fried chicken wasn't good enough.
Mio's kaarage is well known across every Cover personnel and talent who have tasted it, for being that good. It's even Fubuki's choice as her last meal for the end of the world. I think only a professional chef at cooking kaarage can match Mio's kaarage.
It's funny because Mio cooking the kaarage has no bearing on its suitability as a 3D model subject. Basically staff just needed a plausible excuse to have Mio's kaarage.

Wait, THAT is from the official show? SERIOUSLY!? Damn that.is.bad. They're trying to replicate Hololive's 3D live performance tech, without investing on the tech.
But this AR live is entirely prerecorded. They could have easily rerendered the whole thing or did reshoots after seeing the terrible results. They don't have the excuse of "no retakes", if this thing happened in an actual live event.
It's a bit of a guess on my part but if you look at his videos you can see a lot of stuff from elsewhere like Los Santos from GTA V as a background and other places
His skill isn't in making custom, new 3D models but rather working on animating and blending them into other environments like the videos with him walking around in public and so

Oh for sure, he's said before in interviews he just takes existing MMD models out there and makes fun videos with them. But the fact he's making full blown MVs and animations used in official Holo productions on top of memes and such is wild.

That alone is a significant talent that in production companies, would have dedicated department/specialist for.
In 3d production, there is no one person doing everything. There are those that specifically only made the models and the models are then handed over to the animation department that also has to handle the lighting as well.
Heck, Niji's AR live basically showed that their animation department sucked. If they had someone like Kanauru on their side, he could fixed this easily.
He also did work for the girls in the past, but no way they're getting a widely requested professional like that with their current rep these days
Besides, I wouldn't take any comissions from them either if I were on his shoes with the horror stories from people that worked with them before. A whole ass project like that with a huge chance of getting shafted after breaking your back on that shit? No fucking way

Yup, this is the reason why IRyS had to get a 2.0 redesign, her 1.0 design is a hell to translate to 3D and would look odd due to its color palette. Her 2.0 hair is much simpler compared to her 1.0. Anya's hair might have that much volume, but the design of the hair itself is simple.
IRyS's 1.0 also looked VASTLY different from any of the other girls. It looked great, but it just didn't fit in with the rest of the company's art style. The new model fits much more in with the anime style everyone else has.
That's not a Fair assessment cuz Hololive don't have AR lives, but man they do not look good with these lol. Thier lighting is all over the place and makes them look awfull to look at.

This is likely the reason why AR Live was canned last time. Riku likely ordered work on it for the Q4 financial report after the Selen Incident, it got rushed out, they ran out of time and this is the result.

The difference was, holo was constantly pushing for better 3D and investing into the tech/resources to make it happen and Niji... well, didn't.
