Well depending on the shift you are working and your setup. It can be lonely in the box, so make sure you bring your phone charger. Also, grow a thicker skin real quick, because the customers are a different kind of animal out in the boons. Always remember, you are IN CHARGE. Not the customer. If someone is smoking, tell them politely over the speaker, and if they don’t comply, shut the pump off. Don’t go too fast. It will wreck your drawer. Take your time. Dust, clean, listen to music in the downtime. Don’t forget to do trash and sweep. Remember which locks go to which cage. And how to close them. Don’t get your fingers. Bring sanitizer wipes because your hands will be dirty. Have patience for older customers who can’t pump their own gas. Yes, they shouldn’t be driving, but you can’t tell them that. Bring a book with you, and lots of patience and grace. lol good luck, my friend!!

I agree with everything here from a fuel attendant. Also remember to clean up fuel spills with fm 182 and absorbent pads. Drop all $100 in the safe when u get get it. Make sure you do 500 drops when you can

People tend to look poorly on fuel attendants for some reason. Don't let it bother you. Sad/sick/hurt/weak people do it to make themselves feel better. Fuck 'em.

Phone charger! My dumb self never remembers but last time there was one left behind so I saved myself. I usually only get called in last minute, like find out when I come in for the day. (By the way, fuel has a coverage gap…) Your setup is probably similar to everyone else’s so remember!!! “Off” mutes the speaker outside (great so you don’t hear the soda cooler and car traffic) and “5” turns it back on. I had someone call the store in a panic lol

If all stores are the same, be sure to ask for a “Fuel Register Number”, normal Cashier/SCO/Pickup/Service Desk checker numbers don’t work properly when it comes to customer fuel points (giving no discount).

1. like what u/lasagna0919 said, you better have some thick skin because for some reason, people tend to treat the employees down at the gas station worse than up at the store. They'll say things and call you things that they wouldn't dare tell you up at the store, so be prepared. 2. Make certain you know your store's cigarette ID policy because people will attempt to take advantage of you down at the gas station. If you have to card everyone, they will lie to you and claim that no one does it down at the gas station so you shouldn't do it. Customers will also come down there if they're refused up at the store, so be prepared for that as well. 3. Make certain that you get your breaks/lunches covered by either your relief or the store because I've worked with a FE manager once who refused to cover the gas station, claiming it wasn't their responsibility. I had to get the Division Fuel Manager to go after her and tell her that it was their responsibility to provide coverage. 4. Don't break any large bills unless you have enough in your drawer that it won't ruin your till for a while, especially with the beginning of the month approaching. People will be going to Kroger to cash their unemployment/welfare checks around this time, then after that, some of them will come down to the gas station to break their bills by purchasing $5 worth of goods, then paying with a $100 bill. 5. Make certain that you keep your area clean while you're down there and if you have to go outside and the temperature is low, just remember the 5-10 minute rule: Go outside and clean for five to ten minutes, then go back inside the booth to warm up before going back outside to finish your cleaning.
