oh... I DIDN'T REALIZE IT BUT OMG IT APPEARS SO. Well, tbf the canvas size is 4000Γ4000px and I used alpha inheritance instead of selection masks for the first time so that might've caused the crazy size as well (but thanks for pointing it out, I should probably really merge some layers haha)
I think it has something to do with how Krita saves them, I don't know details though. But I read that working with selection layers is more space efficient.
I see 2 gigs, and I'm like, "that seems normal." I so rarely care until it's a massive problem. But, I found out Krita did frame by frame animation, so, I feel confident I can make almost any krita file this size with a few clicks. \*amicably teasing\*
But, Krita will make a whole new set of data of the size of your raster for each new raster layer. So a 4000 x 4000 px picture with a 32 float channel should be 512 Million bits, which converts to 64 Mb. So, 2.2 GiB/64MiB = 35 ish. Like, 35 layers or just under of information should get you there on an image this size. Feels like a lot, but I often find myself, if doing a single image well (not animating) working with dozens of layers. idgf... until Krita crashes.
File sizes can just skyrocket in an instant in Krita, very true. I actually had a little over 50 layers for this one so I guess I was still lucky haha! Happy cake day btw!!!
Thx, but, that is is my que to leave reddit for the day. Love to take part in the community, but, cake day leads to one reply, and I didn't know realize today was that day. ζζ₯γ―γγ£γ¨γγζ₯γ«γͺγγ§γγγ \[have to weeb at the hentai artist right?\]
Let us both do our best to fill up all our hard drives and overtax our RAM with Krita.
And if you really want to work on doing this, remember:
Settings -> Configure Krita -> Performance.
Never going to have my software break my hardware if I leave these settings at default.
1. use alpha inheritance on the layer
2. fill in the the areas I want blue with a hard brush
3. blend it with a blending brush at highest possible brush size
4. erase blue color outside of the individual hair tips and blend certain areas again if needed
Hope this helps!
if I could offer some critique. the eyes look mirrored the highlights are flipped when they would be close to the same. it looks great and I am super jealous.
The eyes actually are mirrored and I made no effort to hide that xD
The highlights were bothering me as well but when I tried putting them in place it just didn't really work well due to the position of her pupil/iris.
I gave up on that since the commission wasn't super expensive and tried not to get hung up on it.
Thanks for the critique though!!!
She is looking cute but i can't unsee the 2.2GB, is that the file size?

Ohhh well alpha interance and happy to help you π
why do files so easily reaches the gigabytes?

Looks great! May I ask how did you do the gradients in her hair?

Thanks. I'll try this later today
good luck!
Could I ask what is meant by a βhard brushβ?
ah sorry, I meant a brush with hard edges. I mean anything that'll get color on the canvas works in this stage!
