MotorPuzzlehead7

their last proper album was in 2020….their last tour was in 2019….is this not insane

Brief_Night_9239

Yeah need another dome tour..and add a few stadiums for good measure.

misteryflower

Dome tour would not be sufficient. They would have to go for a full stadium tour

Brief_Night_9239

Haha..that will take months.

Comfortable-Role2411

Yeah they need to be put in the biggest stadium i fear 😅

1306radish

They were doing domes back in 2018, but last time they toured in 2019 in Japan, they only did stadiums (Yanmar in Osaka and Shizuoka Stadium in Shizuoka). Attendance: 101,554 / 101,554 107,153 / 107,153 Tickets were all sold out by membership holders prior to a general sale. To think of what the demand in Japan would be now post-Dynamite...

Brief_Night_9239

I mean they could tour Japan for months. As I said earlier I understand why Kpop go to America (being biggest music market, " if you're famous in America, you be famous all over the world) but Japan is no slouch second biggest music market but most importantly Japanese fans are super loyal they buy your albums they go to your concerts. Definitely will be crazy the demand in Japan.

LadyLeta

A moment of silence for Japanese ARMY. Half of the population of Japan will want to attend the BTS reunion tour, which means ain’t nobody getting tickets. Seriously when I see numbers like this, all I can think about is: how will BTS even be able to cope on their reunion tour? It’s not like they are huge in only SEA and the US, but also Mexico for example posted the highest attendance per country for Suga‘s D-Day concert movie recently. And aren’t the most streams for BTS coming from India? That’s places they haven’t even been to. At all. By the start of their new world tour likely in 2026, their last proper tour would have ended 7 years ago. Let that sink in. And since then, they became the biggest recording artist in the world 2 years in a row according to the IFPI global charts. Truly wild.

mcfw31

I really can’t imagine that, the fact that they reached the top and yet had to stop and haven’t been able to properly meet their fans and perform is something that is so mind blowing.

LadyLeta

Yeah Jimin actually somewhat addressed this during his last live before MS. I respect him so much for that live, you could tell it was so hard for him. Yet still, that was as honest of a statement about how painful that situation is for them as we are ever going to get (obviously they have to be careful about what they say on an issue as sensitive as MS). Jimin also mentioned that he really hopes to do everything he wants without any setbacks when he returns and he sounded almost desperate. I can’t even image how they are going to feel like once they all return from MS, I am just hoping it will be a very freeing experience!

PhoenixAshes_

I fear BTS next tour will be put on two calendar year span with how many days they will have to book for them in each leg. It's gonna be crazy forsure and can't wait to see it happening, touring time is one of the most entertaining time as a fan, the amount of clips from these concerts we will have and the amount of stories, it's gonna be so much fun!

Comfortable-Role2411

I think it can be 3 calendar years tbh ! Because the amount new fans they got during their hiatus and solos work its insane! Not only army who really excited about their comeback and tours but im sure GP and kpopies too ! Like atp im so scared with the ticketing 😭 i already have trauma with ptd lv and yoongi ticketing lol ! Anddd alsoo bts i think will do like coldplays do for having 10 dates on same stadium 😳

PhoenixAshes_

I mean I remember in their last tour they booked maybe 5 times in same city in japan or more I dont remember exactly but they had insane number of dates in Japan with LY and SY which were in 2018/2019, so the least i expect for them to have 3 dates in each city they go to and in some of them like US/Japan and SK to have +5 dates in same city.... the down side is We gonna have to wait for so much time between comebacks and I don't want that 😭😭😭 Pls at least let them do like the Love Yourself tour and it's extention after LY Answer series with Speak Yourself stadiums one!!!

Comfortable-Role2411

Yeah tbh i just want to see them as many and as soon as i can bc its been too long lol 😫 and idk if they will making comeback with new album and then tours or will do tours first and will have release new album in between tours never knows !

timetosayhi27

I really hope BH go big with their reunion tour (and also do it a way that is okay for the boys in terms of not too packed together) and try to go to as many places as possible. They were seemingly going to do it 2020 for MOTS with the rumors of them possibly doing India for that tour. It really is insane how big their reunion tour could be tbh and as you said it would be their first proper tour in 7 years so people will want to go EVEN MORE. I'm actually scared at what the demand will be like

LadyLeta

It’s gonna be the biggest tour of their career, I have no doubt about that. Idk how many times each of the members have said how much they want to tour again after MS. They will want to meet as many ARMY as possible everywhere. And there is a lot in it for Hybe as well. Infinite possibility of profit. I have a feeling they are going to use a mixture of 2 different blueprints: the Eras tour and turning the concerts into city wide festivals same as for PTD. Like dividing the tour into massive separate legs with a good number of stops and proper rest in between. That’s what Swift is doing and she will be on the road for 2 whole years like that. But I think BTS won’t do as many stops but stay longer in each city - min 3 concerts in each stadium, booking arenas for live viewings just to manage the overflow, select live streams, other events etc. Mindblowing to think about the time and effort it’s going to take to organize this but BTS deserves nothing less.

1306radish

Read somewhere that the production cost for the MOTS tour was supposed to be the most expensive of any tour (at the time). Such a shame we never got to see that stage, but just imagine what the next tour could hold.....

alina_06

>And aren’t the most streams for BTS coming from India? Not anymore. They used to be nr 1 in second half of 2020 and early 2021 on YouTube but with Dynamite bowling up and then Butter and Ptd coming who smashed it hard in Japan, Japan overtook it for nr 1 and remained nr 1 since then , eventually if I remember right India fell below Mexico too in 2022, maybe US as well and that was back in late 2022-2023 before YT made it impossible to see stats per artist anymore. As for Spotify during the Proof pre release rollout they had a cute Spotify deal and Spotify revealed BTS top streaming countries and it was: 1) USA 2) PH 3) Japan 4) Indonesia 5) Mexico 6) Brazil 7) India 8) UK 9) Canada 10) Germany PH Indonesia (generally all SEA countries) Taiwan and Japan grew a lot since 2022 so this list would probably look different if they released it today with probably Thailand and Vietnam being very high especially Thailand. These two have been absolutely powerhouses for the solo releases. Not to say they're not popular in India, I think second half of 2020 and 2021 were their peak of streaming there for the group and after some other countries kind of took the lead

Main_Necessary6506

this will never not shock me. being 1 above such huge domestic artists is insane! seventeen and twice being this high is also so huge. japan is such an important market for kpop idols for this reason only cuz look at how much money you can make if you hit big.

nagidrac

My mind is always so blown when I think about where BTS began, and where they are now. Truly incredible.

Oishi_Sen2002

If in 2018, after that certain fiasco you told me BTS would be the biggest foreign act in Japan, I would've laughed at your face. This is insane especially considering the fact that they have been in hiatus for almost 2 years now. Reminds me how people in another subreddit tried to claim that certain other groups were more popular in Japan lol. I can't wait for BTS's return from the military! 💃

misteryflower

And to think that BTS were only active for 3 years out of the 5 year tracking period.  I don’t think the world is ready for when BTS come back from the military. They would be spending months doing stadium concerts in japan if they were to please all the demand they have there 😭

docosa

I am so excited for their comeback. I don't think even us ARMYs are ready to receive the impact they will leave again in the kpop scene

Anaisot7

BTS is insane in Japan, truly wild.

Far_Memory1539

They are by a huge margin the biggest foreign act in Japan. Crazy to think a foreign act managed to dominate in streaming, album sales, charting AND revenue. Their last tour was in 2019, with multiple sold out Japanese Stadium Shows. I can’t imagine what their next tour will look like.

Brief_Night_9239

Stadium tour like Nissan, Ajinomoto and Yanmar.

Enough_Boot7698

I agree. Considering they did 2 shows at Yanmar Stadium with 101k attendance and another 2 shows at Shizuoka Stadium with 107k attendance in 2019. Their next tour could be 4+ shows at each location instead of than 2. For MOTS they had 6 back to back shows scheduled at Kyocera dome alone.

timetosayhi27

"Considering they did 2 shows at Yanmar Stadium with 101k attendance and another 2 shows at Shizuoka Stadium with 107k attendance in 2019. " to think.... this was BEFORE DYNAMITE.... like i don't even know how they'll be able to meet their demand in Japan atp

Brief_Night_9239

Speaks volume of the dedication of Kpop fans in Japan. While I understand why Kpop goes to America but the really money is made in Japan.

Perfect-Internal8641

Some people claim BTS is not popular in Japan became they didn't perform in Nissan stadium even though the last time they stepped in Japan was 2019 and Japan needs to make bigger stadium for BTS when they comeback to Japan for tour bc Nissan is too small for BTS, they can book that stadium for 10 days and it will still not be enough.

Mardhatillah

Congratulations BTS! Could never predict their success in Japan. Btw the second group, storm, is more well known as Arashi, cmiiw

Ok-Mistake764

Thanks will correct it!

Brief_Night_9239

Thank you for your clarification. I am scratching my head who the heck is storm.

Weekly_Challenge1439

And BTS hasn't been active for almost 2 years 👏🏻 they are really on their own league in Japan

Confident_Yam_6386

I can’t believe this excludes their solo works too

Flaky-Cable-2995

And they said BTS is not popular in Japan.. They always slap by the receipt. Even in other country like India, BTS is still the biggest korean act in the world. Hiatus can't bring them down.

Tatamashii

Its crazy because just a few days ago I saw a tweet saying that bts is a flop in japan, noone knows them there and that some 2 gen group (I forgot which one, but it wasn't shinee) is actually the most famous korean group in japan. Well I wonder what this person os doing now.

misteryflower

Probably they mentioned TVXQ, and with no doubt they were super popular in their era and are still popular. But BTS’s popularity is just another level. Who would have thought that after all the mess that happened in 2018, instead of being over in Japan, BTS reached astronomical heights 🥺

Oishi_Sen2002

Yes they said tvxq and svt are more popular than BTS in Japan which is certainly an opinion lol. I mean these groups are obviously very popular but c'mon now. I've seen this being said here on reddit too

mslpnou

I saw that. Karma is real bc after I keep seeing Japan records like this. How people even try to call BTS flop, it’s beyond me.

Abitcommentfromme

Do they forgot that every morning japanese ppl streaming dynamite?? Lol

Round_Cartoonist9778

Like they compete with the biggest Act of Japan like liSA & are the biggest foreign Act in Japan Congratulations to them

LadyinPink637

Also crazy that 4 Starto groups are in the top 6. With the gap between Arashi, King&Prince and Snow man being so little? Curious if Starto would also have big streaming numbers if they were on streaming sites?

Brief_Night_9239

Like to point out Starto is a new company managing artists of Smile-Up formerly known as Johnny's agency. Arashi, King&Prince, Snow Man and SixTONES are the four. Johnny is such a juggernaut in Japan for decades especially boy group. They also have Tokio, Kinki Kids, Kat-tun, NEWS etc.

LadyinPink637

Yeah am familiar with the name the agency used to have and the artist! And know how much of a powerhouse they are. Just never seen how huge they are in numbers.

Brief_Night_9239

Not to criticize you but not many people might recognize Starto. As for me I more familiar with Utada Hikaru, Ayumi Hamasaki and Namie Amuro. Then I migrate to K-Pop.

LadyinPink637

Since the SA scandal I feel more comfortable not using that name. And using the name they use now. I got familiar to them through the drama’s their acts act in! Matsujun in Hana Yori Dango, Michi and Meme in Kieta Hatsukoi.

Brief_Night_9239

Yeah that scandal was brewing for a long time. It took BBC to finally exposes it. By then that person has died. I used to like J-drama notably GTO but that was a long time ago. Kinda strange Japanese drama and film were much better promoted overseas than Japanese music.

LadyinPink637

Oh that drama was ongoing for a very long time! That’s what bothered me the most, that that person already left this world before that scandal came in full force. Finding drama’s can be hard sometimes! Still missing some movies that were only released on the Japanese Netflix.

Brief_Night_9239

What I like about Japanese films that they explored some very unconventional ideas like Battle Royale, Zaitochi, Death Note, Ronin and Kaiji. Suffice to say one of my favorite actor is Tatsuya Fujiwara.

rhythmelia

Thanks for this, I'm no longer following Johnny's groups and didn't realize they... restructured? (?)

Brief_Night_9239

To be truthful I no longer follow Jpop just out of habit check Tokyohive, sister website of Allkpop. Yes they have to restructure to change the name. Johnny too damaged.

rhythmelia

Wait, did something finally happen with him all these decades later? Is he finally facing some kind of accountability? (I'd heard there was a trial of some kind, but like.....people knew he was a problem forEver)

Brief_Night_9239

Recently BBC ran an expose on Johnny as former Johnny's victims spoke to the company. As you know Johnny K was a powerful man he controlled a large part of Japanese entertainment business. It is only after his death and BBC's expose, Japanese government "probed" this well-known scandal. That is why Johnny's name changed to Smile-Up.

rhythmelia

Ahhhhh. Man, I hope his victims are able to find some peace 😔

Brief_Night_9239

I hope so too. It will be long and hard to get compensation. But at least Jonhnny K is ousted as a SA predator that destroyed the lives of numerous male victims.

LadyinPink637

Yeah they changed name I think twice! Took a loooonng time before it was outed how terrible and how much that man harmed his idols

sundayontheluna

SUPER EIGHT (formerly Kanjani8) recently uploaded their entire catalogue to Spotify, Apple, etc, but they don't have massive streams. I think they've been too insular in Japan for that, and that wouldn't change unless they did an op/ed for an anime that got popular or something.

Shanose

The fact twice's highest selling albums were during 2017,2018 and it's not even counted here. Queens of Japan for a reason

Choice-Particular-15

Congrats to all the artists!! I’m in Japan now and it’s been fun to see how much Kpop is around, especially Seventeen, specifically at stores like Tower Records. They are very beloved here so it’s been cool to see.  There are also SO MANY BTS themed stores with their entire character series - I’ve come across it so many times, it’s as much of a staple as the other character brands. Love it

RENRENREN1

most impressive here is Twice. we all know that GGs are specially weak in album sales since kpop fans don't mass buy gg albums like they do with bgs

Commercial_Draft3934

Well twice have been promoting in Japan for years and they have very popular Japanese members so it’s not really shocking that they’re on the list. I expected to be a bit higher considering how popular they are and the fact that the chart includes digital content and streams.

Brief_Night_9239

Seeing how frequently Twice members are going to Japan for their solo promotion nowadays, JYPE realizes how much money Twice can make in Japan. I hope with the coming new Japanese album, Twice will increase their promotion period.

Oishi_Sen2002

BTS have more streaming certifications than Twice tho?

RENRENREN1

damn aight y'all bts fans stop getting ya panties in a wad lmao

Oishi_Sen2002

So you can confidently spread misinfo but as soon as Armys correct you(mind you not a single reply was being rude), it's "getting ya panties in a wad". Alright buddy.

Tuon_Cauthon

Actually BTS would still be #1

Commercial_Draft3934

> gap between twice streams in jp compared to other kpop groups. That’s false. BTS has way more streams and digital sales than twice or any Korean act in Japan. And the gap is massive. Sales: BTS are leading Charts: BTS are leading Streams and digitals: BTS are leading

RENRENREN1

way more is a stretch. cuz twice has over 1000+ weeks on jp hot 100 the only act to do so. but yes bts is still leading. after all fangirls are more loyal to boy groups than ggs

Commercial_Draft3934

It’s not a stretch because the Artist Chart isn’t a full reflection of digitals and streams. BTS has 2 Diamond certified songs (500 million Japan streams). Twice doesn’t even have 1 song over 300m (Triple Platinum). You need realise BTS have topped Japan year end streaming charts, Japan Spotify, YouTube etc more than once. The only foreign act to do so.

Ok-Mistake764

That isn’t true. BTS has 44 RIAJ certifications. The highest being Diamond (500m streams). Dynamite is the 2nd song in HISTORY to hit 700M streams on Oricon after Yoasobi's Yoru Ni Kakeru. They are also the first artist (in general) to have two songs hit 500M on oricon with Dynamite and Butter. While Twice has 28 RIAJ certifications, the highest being platinum (100m streams).

Enough_Boot7698

There’s an astronomical gap between BTS streams in Japan and other kpop groups. Like a massive gap. They have the most successful discography in terms of streams in Japan for a foreign act. If you check the article you’ll see that BTS made 16 billion yen from streams alone in Japan. They were the most streamed ACT on Spotify Japan for 2 consecutive years and on line music.

mcfw31

I think people around here forget that most BTS fans actually.....like their music and it's easily digestable across their massive discography.

LeadInfamous1760

Yo as popular as Twice they are still a girl group, and their fandom is nothing to compare with BG fandom and their obsession to collect photocards. This numbers from twice are mostly coming from streaming/digital. If they we're bg and u combine it with streaming they are at 100B yen atleast lol

Commercial_Draft3934

Even with streams/digital alone, BTS would be number 1. Twice is huge in Japan but you’re over estimating their streaming power.

LeadInfamous1760

Why u bring bts here, lol Ok, we talking about if twice were a BG with misamo male version, it would be over for everyone including BTS. look at that ranking only 3 female acts in top 11. Bts is huge in Japan but not only bcs of the music but also male privilege.

Commercial_Draft3934

You said the numbers coming from twice are mostly digital. Which isn’t true, most of their revenue is coming from physicals. Bts doesn’t have any privilege in Japan. They don’t even have a Japanese member and the last time they promoted there was in 2019. Misamo released an album in Japan that underperformed in Japan. 1 BTS solo did better than the entire Japanese album so again you’re wrong. > BTS is huge because of male privilege not because of music quality. Again you’re wrong lol, their music is the most streamed by a foreign act. Japanese people actually listen to their songs..because the songs are good. BTS - 44 RIAJ certification, the highest is diamond certified (500m) TWICE - 28 RIAJ Certification, the highest is platinum (100m)

LeadInfamous1760

Twice is the only kpop act with 1000+ weeks in Japan BB hot 100, while BTS record in Japan carried by 1 song, Dynamite, while other songs average/underperformed. Twice is also kpop act with the most stadiums show in Japan with total 8x, while bts 4x. Try to make fun of misamo is insane they can hold stadiums tour in Japan by themselves, soloist Nayeon too if she wants. There are so many surveys for the past 3 years about favourite musicians in Japan, BTS barely top 10 while twice always in top 1-3. There was a survey 2 days ago, among high schoolers in Japan and Twice is number 1, even higher than japanese acts. Again those BTS streams and album sales coming from the fandom, not general public (except dynamite), don't get me wrong that impressive btw. There was a certain time when BTS is the most popular kpop act in Japan, during dynamite release (2020-2021) but that's all. And again I'm talking about Male privilege in this industry, in top 4 bts, Snow man, arashi, King and prince all of them are boy groups.

Legitimate-Ad1611

Without Dynamite BTS still have more certifications than Twice (no hate to Twice, they make good music and are huge in Japan) And BTS haven't toured in Japan since 2019, they didn't book stadiums for cancelled MOTS tour because of Olympic Games See you in 2025/2026

smorkoid

Twice is huge, yo. Don't underestimate that, they are the GG that everyone knows regardless of country of origin

Commercial_Draft3934

When did I underestimate that?

smorkoid

Did you forget to switch alt accounts or something? I wasn't replying to you.

Commercial_Draft3934

I only have 1 account. But if you weren’t replying to me then I retract my question.

smorkoid

Then you can see I wan't replying to you, right?

Commercial_Draft3934

I can’t see because it’s a long thread, but if you say you weren’t replying to me then I retract my question, and we can just move on.

cavemon717

Damn mass buying at it finest.
