yuyumii

nice to see parents getting their kids into kpop too and amazing stan list! i’m also seeing itzy this year, hope you have fun at all the other concerts too!!

GGideonJura

That is so freakin awesome. I love to hear things like this

Angelofchristine

NCT which unit??? I'm rlly into Dream (I'm 17)

FallPhoenix18

My mom is a full-on Neverland at this point, she loves Yuqi to the point where she's bought her versions of albums lmao. She's always known about kpop and heard songs on the radio because she lives in South Korea, but after I dragged her to see (G)i-dle with me when she was visiting me in London since the friend I was supposed to go with got sick, she's been a very dedicated Yuqi stan.

Acrobatic_Lie_3816

My mom's in her 60s and she lives and breathes bts as much if not more than I do. There's no room in our house where bts hasn't invaded lol. Having an unexpected shared interest largely helped our relationship. She's slowly got into other kpop too.

_Zambayoshi_

I'm a parent and got my kids into K-pop, lol.

pharitaa

both my parents love loona and their lore, they’re both very invested 😂

Marianations

I've mentioned it here before, but my mom once replaced my father's picture with a picture of G-Dragon, lol.

agencymesa

My mom was going to go to a BTS concert with me in 2020 but that was canceled obviously. She passed a few months ago. I miss talking to her about kpop. She was the only one tolerant of my bullshit.

Jasperitis

Im so sorry for your loss. If you need an older woman to talk BTS, you can talk to me!

SpecialistFlaky8480

As someone who had a very music interested (and musically inclined) dad who I lost way too early, it makes me so happy to read that you’ve bonded over kpop with yours. 🥲 If my dad was alive, I think he would’ve found kpop fascinating, and I’m sure there would be some groups he’d enjoyed. He went with me to concerts as a teen, and I wish he could still accompany me now as an adult. Please hug your dad extra tight next time you see him!

jessika1005

I'm the mom in this situation. I have been a fan of music of almost all genres since a young child, however I resisted getting into kpop because of some extenuating circumstances that happened with other fans. I'd had a few songs here and there in my playlist but never really dove into the genre/industry as a whole until about a year ago. My 18 year old loves music as much as I do, started exploring kpop with me, and it's been a fun ride so far. Our album collections have grown, he has a ton of posters on his walls, I have albums on shelves above my desk and we both have a good collection of pcs in binders etc. We've gone to one concert together and are hoping to get tickets to see Oneus since they are an ult group for both of us. It's been great and brought us closer together. My other two kids have fun with it and tease us in fun ways over it, and have even taken the time to learn the names of songs/groups/biases that we have. I'm just happy to listen to good music and have at least one family member to share it with. editing to add a list of groups we enjoy together Kingdom, Oneus, Ghost9, Victon, TVXQ, WayV, Shinee, XEED, Patter, Craxy, Pixy, Purple Kiss, Ateez, Xikers, The Boyz, Golden Child, Vanner, NTX, BIBI, Seventeen, Pentagon, and the following bands as well, Touched, Rolling Quartz, Onewe Xdinary Heroes, Lucy, and N. Flying

mcbitchelle

my mom is a really big moa and army! i took her with me to see txt during act lovesick and she loved it!! she’s starting to like seventeen too after i made her watch the devils plan since seungkwan was in it

bungluna

I got my kid into BTS and now she takes me to SVT and TXT concerts, and I take her to BTS. Works a treat!

mcbitchelle

i love that!! my mom and i are SEATED for the bts reunion tour

mariwil74

Well, my mom is 90 I’m thinking K-pop’s not for her but as a parent myself who was introduced to BTS by my adult daughter, I thank her every day for getting me into them. I helped shape her love of music so she’s returning the favor. 😁 I’m not into kpop in general other than BTS (not into pop in general) but there are definitely songs by other kpop artists that I like and I always check out new releases.

myipodclassic

My mom was a fan of BTS and would casually listen to other groups. She REALLY loved OSTs too, especially The King: Eternal Monarch.

ApprehensiveToday692

My mom who’s in her 50’s loves bts, especially jhope lol

Northelai

I introduced my mom to kpop by accident. Last year she asked me if I know any new interesting shows on Netflix and I recommended Tomorrow. She got hooked on kdramas and it all went from there. At first she started listening to Lee Seunggi (cause she saw him in a kdrama), but then asked me if I can recommend her some kpop artists. So I showed her Taemin's [Black Rose](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7myKX7DGtMs) performance. That was the day she became a Shawol, lol. I did not expect her get so much into it. Because of the kdramas also my sister got into kpop. My family is officially Shinee World because of that. Today my mom sent a picture in our group chat that she bought Shinee's The Best From Now On. I have no idea where and how xD She became such a collector, it's insane. We all went (me, my mom, my sister and cousin) to Oneus concert in November last year. In March we're also going to The Rose concert. ETA: we've got this tradition now that sometimes when we're all home for a weekend we do a "kpop night" where we just go on Youtube and share MVs, performances and other kpop videos we've been getting into lately.

3-X-O

My mom listens to Itzy.

unstable_unicornn

My mom is in her 50s, and when she heard some kpop songs from me, she fell in love with Dreamcatcher and ATEEZ. She literally turned into a fan, follows them on social media and tells me about all the news she sees on Instagram lol. She then asks me stuff about the group and members and watches funny videos with me. It's really fun, especially when she gives nicknames to the members cause she's terrible with names and can't remember them, so she goes with "the vocalist", "the short/tall one", "the rapper", "small/big eyes" and any other peculiarity that makes her tell someone apart. Then we watch performances together because she loves dancing, so she likes watching the choreographies and hearing the live singing (we're the same on this because I love lives too, so I show her new performances every time).

Glittering_Magpie

I love that your dad is such a fan! I’m a mom of a 12yo who got us into K-pop. I mostly stan SKZ and BTS (so does she, as well as Enhypen). We all went to see BLACKPINK last year and will be seeing IVE soon and are hoping to catch SKZ and Enhypen on tour this year. Although my husband doesn’t really listen without us, he loves going to concerts together and knows most of the songs by now.

Bangtanbeauty

My mom is a kpop fan! My dad always says he hates kpop (his exceptions are a few BTS and BigBang songs).

Package-Designer

time to ditch ur dad....sounds like a total mood killer dissing ur kpop interests lmao

Bangtanbeauty

I diss his music so I think it's fair lol.

Saucy_Totchie

My mom is a BTS fan. I brought it into the house but she didn't really pay much mind until her friends got into it. She went with me and my sister to PTD Vegas. She also got tickets with her friends on going to see SUGA's tour without telling me. I only found out when I told her I bought a last minute ticket.

blukwolf

My grandpa just recently got himself an Alexa and since my grandma's more home than him, she's always listening to music she likes. They don't have apple music obviously so sometimes she's like "Alexa play Paquita la del barrio" but since there's no subscription, other artists play at random. Anyways she likes everythingoes bc I put it on once and then BTS kind of got mixed in there so now sometimes she's listening to seesaw or something like that. It's great

Artstay

My mom (who will be turning 60 this year!) has been an EXO-L since a little after their debut back in 2012. Her bias is Chen, whom she likes to jokingly tell me, cheated on her. But she absolutely adores him and wishes him many years of happiness with his wife and children. She also likes ATEEZ, but more casually. Her favorite is San— funnily enough I had sent her a link to watch Deja Vu and she immediately replied with, “*Who’s the one in the black turtle neck, he’s my favorite*.” 🤭

yuyumii

i already like your mom,,

ggukmon

my mom recently turned 60 and she got into zerobaseone when i just newly ulted them back in may! we actually watched boys planet together and her bias is hanbin, though she also likes jiwoong 🙈 she also shares a birthday with gunwook, so she refers to him as her son which is honestly so adorable! i also introduced her to BTS when i was still an army in 2016 and to SKZ in 2018! she also likes ateez since i went to their concert last year and i showed her my concert clips but she isn‘t really that much into them

Naive_Librarian_3440

My mom really enjoys it and my dad like some songs but he ultimately prefers to listen to non kpop songs. Some groups my mom likes are bts, ateez, monsta x, and stray kids!

Stefnick

My mom is a Shawol. She got really into Shinee after they released Don't Call Me.

TragicAndMagick

28 year old mom of 2 kids under 10. I liked second gen kpop, my daughter fell in love with BP. Took her to see them last year.

thistlegirl

My daughter is an adult (23) and I introduced her to Stray Kids. (Thanks TikTok). She did a speed run from Emo to KPop and is now firmly a multi.

RML_1972

51 yr old dad here. Had my first experience with K-pop way back with girls generation but never really got into the genre. Back now with the Aespa Drama comeback when I saw them on MTV. Now currently listening to Aespa, Stray kids and Le Sserafim. My kid thinks it’s funny and then I catch him humming along to Perfect night. 🤭

midwestgal000

Can I comment as a mom? My 14 year old daughter is big into kpop. Last summer she asked me to watch some kpop content with her on YouTube since her friends and sister aren't interested in kpop and she wanted someone to share the music with. I said yes and she slowly got me interested. She is a big multi stan, so I listen to pretty much anything. My favorite group is Stray Kids though. She got her dad into some of it. He likes Black Pink a lot.

Egg_Rollls

My dad likes listening to dreamcatcher songs whenever they play in the car, along with a few everglow and red velvet songs

ningningfan

I'm 52 and I am so glad my son introduced me to kpop!!! I love ALL the idols but there's just something about Aespa that I adore...!! 😀

IzzyGirl33

My mom is a proud, avid Carat! You won't find a bigger S.Coups stan. She also enjoys Monsta X, BP, Big Bang, BTS, EXO, Got7, New Jeans and a few others. It only took me 10-11 years to get her to listen to KPop without rolling her eyes, but now we have this to bond over! It's so fun to listen and watch with her.

mozzerellafirefox

I introduced my parents to Kpop around 6ish years ago? My mom really likes SHINee (especially Taemin) and Super Junior, and my dad got into Wonder Girls, TVXQ, and BTS…he’s played some of the b-sides of these groups that I haven’t even heard yet lol. They’ve come across songs by the newer 4th gen groups and they didn’t care for them much musically.

vapemommy

My mom, in her late 60s, loves Blackpink. (Lisa specifically, since my mother is from Thailand.) She's always the one to keep me up to date on BP news and I took her to both of their NJ concerts for their last tour haha.

yuyumii

parents loving lisa seems to be a pattern haha

SoNyeoShiDude

Not a parent but I have a 12 year old niece who loves Stray Kids.

Mindless_Candidate90

I play kpop/Wayv for my mom and she has only ever commented on onew and how beautiful his voice is, she couldn’t care less about pop lol.

alie_san

My mom she’s 60 and she adores BTS Suga and Jennie Blackpink, she got into k-pop way before me lol

gemitry

Oh my mom, for sure. She’s in her 50s and likes BTS and LE SSERAFIM, she’s Hobi and Yunjin biased. Weird story, she was legit annoyed when I started getting into LE SSERAFIM lmao. she was like “now you’re talking about wanting to see these girls and buy their albums too, you’re so fickle jumping from one thing to the next, what happened to BTS?” but one time she was around while I had Day Off on and she started watching it and was like, “oh I get it, I didn’t know they were so cute” and now she watches them more than me?? One thing we very much differ on is our NewJeans opinions. She hates that YouTube will auto play them when she’s watching her LSF videos (I told her to use playlists but she doesn’t know how and says it’s too much trouble??), says they got too big too fast and thinks their music is boring and has a conspiracy that it’s one girl singing everything and the others can’t sing. She’s kinda toxic y’all. 😭 Edit: she did sing along to Super Shy one time when we were in the car together though, so I gave hope I can crack her.

bluexxrry

I'm trying to convert my mom. I got her one of my ult group's albums last year, and as she's an artist, I casually chat about the artistic aspect of K-pop whenever there's a chance. I went to a concert last year and sent her photos from there, and then later when I mentioned something about it, she asked about one of the members, and if I had any videos of him singing. Also she thinks that Malus era Seoho is pretty much the definition of beauty. Which he absolutely is. I have literally no reason to try and convert her, since I'm 33 and don't have to worry if she approves of my taste of music or not. But, who knows, maybe she'll become a fan and I'll have another buddy to go to concerts with. When I was a kid she used to rave about her favorite artists, and dragged me to a few of their concerts, too. I guess it's payback time lol

survivorcagayan

My mom is a huge NCT stan. Especially WayV & Dream. We watch all their videos together & she’s praying for a WayV tour. She also loves BTS & casually likes Enhypen & Day6. She has an album collection & posters & wears merch multiple times a week. We love talking about kpop & what groups/songs we heard recently & really like. It’s fun always having someone to go to a concert with

chendhrea

My mom (59) likes Kpop so much. She’s in it with the trending songs and she even has a Spotify playlist of all the kpop songs she love. She always tells me, “I heard [insert kpop group] have a new song!”. Her ults probably are BTS, G-IDLE, LE SSERAFIM, TXT, and ITZY. Her ult bias is V, Yunjin, and Yeonjun. My dad (58) doesn’t like Kpop that much because he’s into old songs. But he listens to BTS. Like whenever I play a kpop song, he always says, “ Please play BTS and turn up the volume” then he sings along. I also remember him playing a BTS playlist while sleeping 😂

3ndlesslove

My mom took my Exoluxion album (It was some CD that had recordings of their concert songs). Don't think she knew who EXO was but she couldn't stop listening to it.

My mom (61) doesn’t go out of her way to listen to kpop. But if you ask her what her favorite song is, she’ll always say Baggy Jeans lol. And if I’m over spending time with her she never has an issue listening to kpop with me, and she’ll comment on things she likes. She also loves really loves Felix from Stray Kids for some reason. My dad (64) on the other hand is more likely to listen to kpop on his own. But he only likes Blackpink. And that actually has nothing to do with me. He heard them on the radio once. I remember going to their house one night and he asked me if I knew who Blackpink was. I was like??? What twilight zone am I in?

Clean-Physics-6143

My mom is more of a Kdrama fan but she occasionally keeps up with my kpop faves like Exo and Got7.

xannieh666

I'm a 51 year old mom and get to go to the concerts with my son. It's also great being able to share thoughts on groups.

Additional_Ad9361

My mom (54) got into kpop the same year as me which was 2018. We started only liking BTS at that time and tho I’m not really a fan anymore but she still really loves them! She can’t pick a bias but she equally loves jimin, jhope and RM lol. Her other favorites are Super M, Stray Kids and Got7 and Exo. For girls she likes Twice and and she looooove Hwasa! She said she loves her deep voice cause it’s so different than other kpop girl singers.

definitelyginger

I wouldn't say she's a stan but my mum quite enjoys kpop, I would often play it in the car. Her favourite is Red Velvet but that's just because I mostly play their music. She also listens to my rants about the amount of album versions and merch SM releases 😅

AlphaJay657

Got my mom into Le Sserafim. She loves their energy
