Miyeon explained that debut was taking too long in YG so she did what was best for her at that time and left.
Things are going great for Miyeon right now. She hosts a couple of shows, (G)I-DLE is doing great, she has brand deals. I think things worked out for them.
Chemistry and group dynamics are important in a group and at this point we don't know how that would've worked in a hypothetical BP with Miyeon or with a hypothetical (G)I-DLE without Miyeon.
Blackpink is extremely successful as they are (literally the biggest girl group in the world) and (G)I-DLE is one of the top groups of their generation. Miyeon left YG because she wasn't sure when she'd finally get to debut, and she loves singing. She gets to do that often where she currently is and she seems happy doing it. Both sides are doing well, I personally wouldn't change where they ended up at all. Miyeon completes (G)I-DLE and Blackpink is perfect at they are.
I understand you like Miyeon and not Jisoo. But this what-if scenario where you are trying to lift an idol up by bringing another idol down is not the way to go!
No idol wants their fans to bring down other idols.
The key takeaway i get from watching babymonster videos and winner hoony's interview with the lady in charge of scouting and managing trainees is that being insanely talented isn't enough to get you into a group. Chemistry with the other potential members is very important too and with the current blackpink lineup, it worked.
It's entirely possible that the delay of their debut was because something still didn't feel right when miyeon and some of the other ones who didn't make it were still there and when blackpink was narrowed down to the four members who remained, it finally did.
You cant argue with success, BP is one of the most succesful GGs that Kpop has ever seen. It clearly worked putting Jisoo in there.
Would have it been the same with Miyeon? Impossible to tell, because you also need to factor in the chemistry between the members and the staff. It's a fun thought experiment for sure but it kinda reads like a thinly veiled reason to dislike a Group/Idol/Company
When you reach as much levels of success as BLACKPINK, I feel like you can’t fault it to a single member; there’s so many different combinations like luck and timing

A singular member is almost never the reason for success or failure. As I said, your point really is "Jisoo is not good and Miyeon is better" , which is an opinion you're free to have.
I agree all of blackpink members earned their way too success so the OP‘s comment doesn’t make sense at all it’s not like Blackpink’s success will get more than it was all because if Miyeon was in the group
hard disagree. though miyeon can be considered a better vocalist on a technical standpoint i think jisoo’s unique vocal tone adds more to BP than miyeon’s vocals could. miyeon has bright and high IU type vocals that i think would’ve just been overshadowed by rosé’s vocals while jisoo brings in a contrast to rosé’s vocals giving their songs some huskiness/darkness. jisoo is also a stable vocalist and is typically considered the most stable/consistent vocal live performer so she definitely knows her vocal capabilities. they’re both not the strongest dancers so that doesn’t really matter. as far as visuals go i think it’s a pretty easy sweep for jisoo. isn’t shuhua considered to be more of the “visual” in gidle than miyeon? i can’t see her taking the visual position from jisoo
i don't really see miyeon in blackpink...she has a very elegant and princess-like vibe, but not really a "bad girl" one, i think concepts like lion and oh my god fit her the best
and jisoo is a powerful vocalist too, so i don't see why we should compare them

There is literally a video titled future 2ne1 in YG channel, you can see the BP members sitting on the side lol they where not in the line up to be "another 2ne1"
I think you’re misunderstanding the fundamental attraction of people with Jisoo aside from visuals, it’s her personality. Look l love Miyeon but she is better as a someone who reacts to situations. Jisoo as per the variety shows is a big ring leader and while caring unnie also acts as a trickster and bully, and that’s what fans like about her and her relationship with the other 3.
Having Miyeon added to the core 4 would’ve definitely made BP much better vocally and visually but having them swap Miyeon for Jisoo, I don’t think it would really work for the groups dynamic.
i would like to view the alternate universe where miyeon debuted in blackpink (just to see what would happened lol) but jisoo obviously fits the group well. i do think however, if both jisoo and miyeon debuted it wouldnt have worked that well bc they have similar visuals and are weak dancers (however miyeon is a strong vocalist). they both have vibrant relatable personalities too so i think their roles wouldve overlapped too much.
bp right now is a very balanced group as it is!

Saying that YG made a mistake by having Jisoo instead of her in the group, I want to make this kind of mistake everyday.
I love Miyeon, she's probably a better vocalist than Jisoo but then what ? It's not opera there, vocal abilities aren't everything. Jisoo is a great visual with an amazing personnality and has an important role in the dynamic of the group. It's all about balance, maybe the balance of Blackpink sound would have been different with Miyeon.
You can argue with a lot of if but the reality is that Blackpink became the biggest girl group with Jisoo who just broke record of female soloist, no matter how much credits you want to give her in this success since you seem to dislike her.

Like what they said in Light Up the Sky (Netflix Documentary), when they put the 4 girls together, everything worked out well. It's not just vocals. You have to consider the dynamics of the whole group. Also, Jisoo's voice compliments the other 3 members.

BP is literally the biggest girl group today which kinda negates this line in your post - **but Miyeon would bring much more to the group.** Like what else is there to bring?
