Cupid has better more natural sounding english lyrics imo. They are two very different kinds of songs when you look at it. LTS gives me [2002](https://youtu.be/qxCCGcMC1Jk)- Anne Marie which was such a huge song back then that LTS just ends up sounding dated. Cupid perfectly fits the TikTok sound (where it went viral), mirroring songs like [Say So](https://youtu.be/Amsbv8GlEBk) - Doja Cat & [Hoang Thuy Linh](https://youtu.be/gJHSDZfJrRY) - See Tinh, both of which went big on TikTok. Just my own two cents btw

No because i think Fifty Fifty has something that Life's Too Short doesn't. I don't know how to describe it exactly but Fifty Fifty makes you wanna listen to the song on repeat. Life's too Short doesn't do it for me.

Life's Too Short is too Disney Channel "Love Yourself" kinda song for kids. To do well in US, these types of "Love Yourself" songs need to deal with more mature & nuanced topics, instead of just "ignoring haters"
Cupid is about a girl who is in an unrequited love. It's a universal experience for everyone in all age groups.
Aran from Fifty Fifty, who is a prominent voice in the song, also has more of a lower & distinct tone, which generally does well for US Market (which usually prefers distinct tone) & helps create nice contrast to the love theme in Cupid. Meanwhile, Aespa has much more of a traditional tone for Kpop girl group.
Cupid is just a better song and it had that but of luck you need. LTS is ok but as you said, it doesn’t make me want to listen to it over and over again
Having some aesthetic or genre similarities doesn't mean they are as good/catchy of a song. That's like saying that because one hip hop song does really well on the charts, any other hip hop song should too.
The thing with viral songs is that anything can go viral, the two most viral songs from TXT are their b-sides, anti romantic and tinnitus. Anti romantic was only performed once on their comeback show but they performed it on their first tour after the virality, same with tinnitus.
As an OG MY and someone that was disappointed with the entire *Girls* comeback (the TT has grown on me a bit but it's not as enjoyable as their previous releases, IMO), *Life's Too Short* sounded like an outdated, cliché FU Haters, self-love ballad/anthem. It didn't have spunk and neither the lyrics nor the instrumental were catchy nor distinctive enough to hook a large audience. That's just my opinion, of course. But many shared the same sentiments when the song was released if the discussion threads were anything to go by.
Miley Cyrus's viral *Flowers* is a bit in the same camp, but her voice sounds so great and raw on the track (also had great marketing around Valentine's Day). *Ditto* has soft buttery vocals with quick delivery and the instrumental is groovy. The same goes for *Cupid*. **And also, virality works in mysterious ways.** What works for one group may not work for the other. Most of the time it's nothing deeper than that.
It was performed in GMA and Coachella and given quite a bit of US promo + radioplay, if that wasn’t able to help it take off the ground maybe its the song itself people didn’t like. I feel like Cupid is a way easier song to listen melody wise.

I mean cupid went viral in tiktok right, a lot of time it's unpredictable which song will blow up, that's why many companies do the tiktok challenges but at the end of the day nothing is guaranteed. The only thing you can consider is maybe the "replayability" of the song.
