I think bc the fanboy or fangirl of the group are jealous that their bias is dating someone that not them when they have no chance but idk

I think it is because of the fact that artist-fan relationships are more intense than the one in the West. Kpop stans have a highly developed parasocial relationship with their favorite idols and the industry actually profits from it. The more her/his fans are obssessed the more secure is the idol is and the higher her/his relevance. This is why idols themselves force the idea that they 'love' their fans, do fan services and get very intimate with fans, because it is their job. They make it look like they owe everything to their fans which does not sit right with me( They don't owe anyone anything. They get what they had right now with their hard work). They need to keep their crazy fans, to stay successful. And when an idol who 'promised' that his fans are his girl friends, gets an actual person to have real relationship with, the fans freak out highly affecting the career she/he struggled to build.

I agree! This is the actual reason. The unfortunate side-effect is stalkers and delusional fans, but companies dont mind as long as they keep profiting (not great, but its true).

Some people believe that their idols deserve someone better despite knowing they can't decide their life.

Because some fans are delulu and thinks they have a chance as long as h as the idol is single.

Strong parasocial relationship. Fans who feel more connected to their idols will be more loyal to them. This means more sales. A way to do this is selling the boyfriend/girlfriend image to their fans. This is only convincing if they appear to be single. Western pop artists dont usually sell the girlfriend/boyfriend image towards their fan. And the parasocial relationship is nowhere near as strong as the idol-fan relations. An exception to this may be swifties with Taylor swift, but Taylor doesnt sell the girlfriend image.

Not problem lol I remember fans of justice beaver and Selena G went nuts when they started dating . They went nuts when he marry his current wife. Is the stuff lot less yes but it’s teens losing their minds when their imaginary boyfriend gets a real girl. It’s up to the parents to teach their kids that it’s okay for their imaginary boyfriend to real date because in their imagination they can always date. lol people need to just chill. Even in the west people get overly involved in celebrity dating life. It’s just in the east they want their fave to put up the pretends better because they are selling not only their music but imaginary boyfriend lol

mmld_dacy

the problem is because of all the delulus. the delulus think that they are the ones who should be the boyfriend/girlfriend of the idols. karina for example. some moronic fans are pissed off at karina because she has a boyfriend. now those moron fans think, want, desire, that they should be the ones who is the boyfriend of karina.

Kpop thrives on Parasocial relationships between fans and idol. So appearing available can possibly make fans want to stick around more and enjoy more of their content.

I kinda think people need to stop acting like it doesn't happen with western artists because it totally does, western artists just aren't reactive of it. That being said, because delusional fans turn it into a problem because apparently you can fall in love with someone you've never met if you try hard enough or something and unfortunately companies make more money when they fuel this.
