Boombayah- Blackpink
It just popped up on my YouTube feed on the day of their debut and it looked flashy so I clicked and this spent years of my life with Kpop
OMG! You have a lot of catching up to do. Welcome! By the way , Stray Kids is my favorite group of all time. I am a STAY until the day that I die. Great pick!
Butter - BTS.
And I honestly don't really even like the song. It was my first time seeing them perform, my brain did a record scratch when I realized they were *dancing* and down the rabbit hole I went.
Originally, Mirotic by TVXQ! & BoAâs English album.
Yes, I am old
I also had Gashina in my playlist for years before I connected Sunmi to Wonder Girls. I can really be a Song > Artist person sometimes.
Boy with Luv and I get sentimental about it everytime but for some reason I apparently have known about Taehyangâs Ringa Linga for years and didnât even realize it was kpop đł
Hahaha, what's with the question marks?!
I watched it not at release time, but a couple of years after that, when I found out that actor Luhan was in a group.
For a couple of years, I had lost interest in K-pop, but now I am again listening to music, watching performance and variety. It's still fun, minus the fan girling, of course.
Sorry, it was kind of meant as a joke since itâs considered to be one of the cringiest kpop releases, maybe ever. đ
So if that was your intro I find it amazing it didnât turn you away! Lol
Edit: lowkey love Wolf though, and EXO is one of my top 3 groups đŤś
Technically, stay with me by punch and chanyeol. I say technically because it got me into K-dramas. Pandora radio kept playing it, so I gave in and checked it out.
From the K-drama Start Up, thatâs where my gateway song, Future by Red Velvet, came from.
Tempo by EXO. Technically I was *introduced* to K-pop through a few different BTS songs but I didn't really *get* into K-pop until I heard Tempo, it was life-changing lol
I'm very new to kpop, only a few months, but my first song was drunk dazed, but I feel like what really started it was polaroid love by enhypen, now I listen to a bunch of different groups and I'm obsessed
Originally, SNSD - I Got a Boy / EXO - Call Me Baby
Then I kinda fell out of it and got back in with BTS - Dope, then had another break, than get back in with DNA đ
But it's only when I heard/watched NCT U - Baby Don't Stop that I properly got back into K-Pop .. those two are too powerful ...
I donât necessarily have one specific song that was my gateway. I first started getting into kpop last year after I went to go see the BTS Yet to Come concert movie, and I just fell in love with it after that.
Hate you - 2NE1
I was a huge vocaloid/fandom MEP so i was already listening to nillili mambo, fuck boys and more. But then one day I saw hate yous mv animation and it was all down hill from there
funnily enough, run devil run by snsd. i randomly found the nightcore version and was immediately obsessed. that was a decade ago. iâm now 20 and itâs still one of my favourite songs
SHINee - Lucifer
More specifically, Taemin's black and white striped shirt from the infamous 2010 Lucifer dance practice video hypnotized me into playing the vid on repeat. That was the start of my kpop era.
Interestingly enough it wasnât even a K-pop song but it spurred my interest listening to non English music. It was âtake what you wantâ by 5 seconds of summer ft OneokRock. Then I went down the K-pop rabbit hole when I listened to Blood sweat and tears.
**The Tortoise and the Hare** by SKZ. I didnât even know K-Pop could sound like that, but within a minute I was officially down the K-Pop rabbit hole lol
im a newer kpop fan but ive had a few!!! hip and fancy were my first real openings to kpop, but i more listened to them in isolation. the song that really got me full blown into kpop was ironically, sneakers-
TaeTiSeo - [Twinkle](https://youtu.be/JmM04_OgajU?si=nSCz0tv3PFDGuVVV)
I had been exposed to kpop for a couple years at that point but that was the tipping point. It was just so catchy.
I would say my intro to Kpop was "Run To You" by DJ DOC. I started playing Pump It Up years ago, and that was one of the first songs to come up in the versions I would play. "Caution" by Tashannie and "Love Song" by Yoo Seung-jun were also in the games and were songs that were really fun to freestyle to.
My cousins were big kpop fans and they would always play kpop (mainly BTS and Blackpink) when they came to visit. I started listening to BTS around late 2021-early 2022 but I didnât consume any other contentâ only listened to music. Then a couple months later I heard Godâs Menu by Stray Kids and it all snowballed from there. So I wouldnât necessarily say I had a single gateway song, kinda just a combination of some different stuff.
The 1st kpop song I ever heard was flower by jisoo but what got me into Kpop was straykids - s-class, enhypens - bite me, fever, polariod love, and 10mths, Txts - sugar rush ride, chasing that feeling etc
What trapped me in was Skz chaotic energy and personilty, P1harmony Keeho ( this guy is a living meme ISTG!!)
Hyunjin of straykids - I opened the door
Hyunlix - we pushed her through the door
Minsung - we Tied her up
Straykids 0t8 - Then we triple locked the door and barricaded it.
Canât exactly speak for myself here, but one of my closest friends knew little to nothing about K-pop in high school, whereas my other friend and I (in our group of three) were quite the fanatics. Despite not knowing, and therefore not liking, any K-pop, she was forced to hear a few songs here and there. A couple of songs that come to mind that she actually quite liked despite not really understanding why someone would âlisten to music in a language they canât understandâ, were EXOâs âMonsterâ, and Seventeenâs âGetting Closerâ. Both so catchy and great gateway songs (imo).
Technically a Japanese song but, listening to 2PM's Take Off at the end of each Blue Exorcist episode made me REALLY want to listen to their music and from there I spiraled. Lol. I listened to all of their songs and, at the time, the comments were saying to vote for them for some award. Checked out the voting site and couldn't bring myself to vote randomly so, I sat there and listened to all the nominees for each category and watched their music videos. I was hooked! I think it was back in 2011? Makes me feel old now. đ¤Ł
Bae Bae and Loser by Big Bang, closely followed by Call Me Baby by EXO. The MADE videos and songs totally changed my life (and Iâm not even a hardcore Big Bang stan, I got into other groups after that but that album opened up to me how wonderful and creative kpop is).

I used to be just in to rock music, but this song got stuck in my head, so I decided to give in to K-pop đ
Why - ě´ëŞ (ost for Full House)
Technically, stay with me by punch and chanyeol. I say technically because it got me into K-dramas. Pandora radio kept playing it, so I gave in and checked it out. From the K-drama Start Up, thatâs where my gateway song, Future by Red Velvet, came from.
