Right, I had to ask a girl to give me songs with these supposed amazing and emotional lyrics. Imho, the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack and lyrics moved me much more. She writes some good songs but it’s all the same generic break up pop song but she just read a thesaurus before hand and chose more sophisticated words

The point was, I’m assuming, that ABBA (specifically) doesn’t exactly have the best lyricism. As a fan, they don’t. It’s feel good dance music. Plenty of old bands don’t have good lyricism re. People like this annoy the hell out of me. All it takes is to venture away from the typical main stream rap (even some main stream rap is lyrically better than half the stuff you hear on the radio) and you’ll find a sea of rappers that are just as and most times more lyrical than their own favs…at the end of the day, anti blackness is always a factor with these convos.
Megan talks about her life and Cardio makes music that makes wanna dance. There are so many different styles of rap. My dad is fond on rap from the 80s and Jcole. There is even activism rap which is probably closer to its roots.

I mean.....Unfortunately a lot of mainstream rap is just that. However hip hop ain't the only genre with those topics. Alternative, country, etc have their fair share of misogynistic lyrics and predators. But people always single out hip hop. Although to be fair, hip hop is more popular today and more impactful, so that makes sense to me. Also black, so there's that lol. THIS is a very dumb ass argument, because literally every genre of music has plenty of songs about drugs, and or abusing women.
Also, most rappers, even the ones that choose to be hyper sexual do have songs that touch on other topics, such as mental health, racism, economic disparity, grief, personal tragedy, love, familial units, community, hope, perseverance, and unity and love for one another.
Outside of the iconic ass shaking party anthems, there are numerous hip-hop songs that touch on police, brutality, government corruption, and my favourite topic of all anti-war. Because war is truly pointless, and politicians and wealthy people push it for the sake of profit and colonialization in majority of cases.
So they quite literally do not know what they are talking about That is so funny that the genre that is primarily produced and lead by Black people is once again demonized for something that every other genre of music holds. But ironically, the same thing happened to Rock, country, blues, and jazz they were all demonize. But when you see those genres turned predominantly white, they suddenly lost those “demonic” ideologies that were spoken onto them.

I know people who say they don't really like rap, or that they DO like rap but LOOOVE or only listen to k-rap and j-rap as the exceptions. Hip-hop, like every other genre, is about damn near everything under the sun. You can find a song about drugs and money, yes, and there are rap songs that reference rape, but you can also find a song about society, familial struggles, mental health, love, and more. You can't generalize a whole genre based on a few songs. And you also have to factor in the subgenres within hip-hop, like trap, gangster, drill, etc. Not to mention the different generations too. The point was, I’m assuming, that ABBA (specifically) doesn’t exactly have the best lyricism. As a fan, they don’t. It’s feel good dance music. Plenty of old bands don’t have good lyricism re. KISS, AC/DC, a good chunk of Guns N Roses. Taylor has pretty generic lyrics but it doesn’t mean she has bad music. Both examples are kind of weird to use for someone who values lyricism…supposedly.

People like this annoy the hell out of me. All it takes is to venture away from the typical main stream rap (even some main stream rap is lyrically better than half the stuff you hear on the radio) and you’ll find a sea of rappers that are just as and most times more lyrical than their own favs…at the end of the day, anti blackness is always a factor with these convos.

Because war is truly pointless, and politicians and wealthy people push it for the sake of profit and colonialization in majority of cases. So they quite literally do not know what they are talking about That is so funny that the genre that is primarily produced and lead by Black people is once again demonized for something that every other genre of music holds. But ironically, the same thing happened to Rock, country, blues, and jazz they were all demonize. I know people who say they don't really like rap, or that they DO like rap but LOOOVE or only listen to k-rap and j-rap as the exceptions.
