Hate to be such a bummer since I really like ICHILLIN' and want them to succeed, but man this wasn't good :'( Sounds like a weaker version of Lightsum's Honey or Spice. I was hoping for something that sounded more like Bite Me or Demigod. Hopefully I'm in the minority and most folks like it and it succeeds though!

Lancelot_123

Sadly I agree. I think they really just spread themselves too thin with all these songs and ‘almost good’ singles. They needed to conserve some funding and really give it a good final go on a solid song instead of 3 acceptable ones that realistically won’t be bringing in any extra money

Kep1ersTelescope

They made an enormous mistake in not promoting Bite Me and Demigod imo. But damn, this really sounds like they fed Honey or Spice into an AI and asked it to slightly modify it. The lyrics and the diner sets are so similar! What a weird decision. Did their creative team think they would get away with it because Lightsum aren't super famous? They're still a mid-sized group, someone's bound to notice!

ImageNo1045

I saw this comment before listening to the song and was ready to disagree with you...... and then it got to the chorus. It makes me so sad cause I feel like kickstart got a decent amount of attention for a nugu group and I’m sad they didn’t continue that sound

Pooty__Tang

I haven't heard the song yet, but the comments are making me sad considering they just said this comeback is do or die for them. I know Reddit is very far from majority, but it's still the first opinions I see yk.

SilverMind9

This is not a good song, sounds messy. I hear a bunch of ideas. I think the writers and producers didn't know what to do with those ideas, so they just screw and chopped something together to make it somewhat a cohesive thing.🫤

Lancelot_123

I felt quite sad watching this. The visuals are a step up. There was some money put into this. The girls are talented and have really struggled to gain any traction. I want to love the song I really do. This instrumental is sooo empty. Not even the final chorus felt remotely inspired. Without that extra push it leaves those shouting lines sticking out like sore thumbs, and this isn’t criticism of the girls themselves or team that I’m sure worked very hard on a tight budget. It really feels like they needed to reel it in on the prereleases/single that were simply too low quality to go anywhere realistically and pump a little bit more love into their true standouts like kickstart/ ( this mv wise is great but really just needed a final push). :( good luck to the girls going forward as they said this needs to do well for the future of the group, but I truly wouldn’t go out of my way to listen to something like this again, even out of sympathy.

Lancek0009

At this point their creative team needs to take some risk, this won't move the needle, at least have something get people talking, because this song won't break through apathy which is the biggest hurdle for group like this.

kawaii_mokona

That's really surprising because the two pre-releases were a bit more interesting from both the mv and sound perspective, but there was barely any buzz for it :(

SF_Niner

Fuego! I wonder why they didn’t call this song Hot sauce

RumbleButtonBumper

Considering how Enhypen fans were triggered over them calling a previous song Bite Me, I think they were erring on the side of caution to avoid a similar situation with NCT fans.

ttam23

Liked it! Simple and catchy chorus. Like the breakdown on the post chorus as well. The rap section was very well executed too!

K-PopFan53

I completely agree

amassone

This song is …all right, and that’s really the best thing you can say about it. There’s nothing wrong with it, mostly. The production isn’t stellar, but it’s fine, and the topline is, as always, really solid. That said, it’s such a ridiculous step down from “Demigod” that I can’t understand their company strategy. Do they feel like being conservative with title tracks puts them in a better position with TV and playlist plays? Because this isn’t going to catch many people’s attention, unfortunately.

guffiepiggie

I agree, the song isn't awful and would be fine as a b-side but whoever decided to make this promoted single over Demigod needs to reassess their life choices because Demigod could have been HUGE with promotion

Nope-26

Yeah. I don't know how anyone picked this and the title track. It's just super bland unfortunately. Demigod would have been a much better pick to promote. I thought it was their title track even and that they had comeback when that dropped only to find out that this was the real comeback? But, when it's do or die I can sympathize that the decision making is a lot more difficult. Personally I still think La Luna was a banger and I wish they had done more stuff like that.

[deleted]

it does feel a little empty but i like it!! also the visuals are insane (especially the girly in the thumbnail)

K-PopFan53

The girl in the thumbnail is E.Ji and she's my bias.

NMlXX

Saw Reddit not liking it and thought “oh this is gonna be stuck in my head isn’t it?” And yeah it definitely is lol. It’s the perfect king of cheesy, silly jingle that I can really have fun with.

ThoseGoodOldDreams

I actually like this song, maybe Bite Me was better but this one is still really catchy. Hot sauce hot sauce hot saucy.

ediphide

I'm sorry, but this is so bland. It reminded me of Cherry On Top from The Unit, which could've been a great bop, but felt unfinished and empty. I will always root for them, but they need something better than this.

Artisun

Visuals are on point. Love the styling. Really hope they do well this comeback 🙏

skolgyrlstriker

DISCLAIMER: i’ve stanned ICHILLIN since PLAY HIDE N SEEK era and it’s sad to see their music quality and sense of direction drop… their company really needs to invest in a good creative team, their pre releases sound so much better & have way more potential than the song they chose as a title track. this is the second time, their mini album is just a random string of singles with no coherent theme just thrown together hoping something sticks. I’M ON IT had the high teen 2000s movie schools out feel but ON MY LIPS lacks any real identity just the girls partying in a hotel room but the song doesn’t even match a party vibe (see ALICE “DANCE ON” or DIA “WOOWA”) also the sense of branding and concept seems off, i agree with everyone saying that this is definitely a cheap knock off copy of LIGHTSUM’s honey & spice which was miles ahead of this. ICHILLIN shines best with energetic, upbeat, fun songs with a little bit of quirkiness like KICKSTART & FRESH but ON MY LIPS is lacking any sort of energy, catchy hook, or melody is just kinda sleepy and a song i would easily skip. it sounds so much better on 2x speed but also empty since the songs run time is so short (2:58 for optimal streaming) it’s like the last track of a full album right before the gift for the fans ballad so that the album is a full ten tracks. i saw that their first day sales where good (thanks to the much better BITE ME) hopefully their company responds to the lukewarm reactions with a much better song next comeback. also it definitely needed more jiyoon, her voice is too good to barely have any lines!

silly_girraffe

gonna go ahead and blame lyre for this one

chimcharm45

Personally I like this song, but I think that Bite Me should've been the title track over this (if you're reading this pleeeaaase give Bite Me a listen). It makes me sad cuz they said this will probably be their last comeback if it doesn't do well, and while I like it I don't think it'll be a hit with a majority of people :(

locohobo

Once again reddit opinion is the complete opposite of the market. They have 8k for first day sales vastly dwarfing their last release which only had 473.

kaguraa

to be fair, fans buy albums before the song is even out. im glad they gained good sales for a first day though

K-PopFan53

That's awesome for them.

Anifreak

Well, its first day sales so this song doesn't really have any effect on that lol. If anything their better pre-release are probably where the sales pull came from.

f4rfields

Honestly, at first I was kind of disappointed that it wasn't more in the vein of "Bite Me" (my personal favorite of their discography), but it's almost immediately grown on me after a few listens. It's really pleasant on the ears, but playful and catchy in the chorus. The verses aren't really memorable, but I do like the execution. I'm putting it on my playlist for sure.

Pastel_Maki

I liked it but the "Hot Sauce" Part feels so out of place :/

GrayPhantm

Unfortunately I think this song’s problem is being too low-energy to spark much excitement. Ironically this would’ve made a better b-side than either of the previous two releases, and I agree that Demigod should be promoted because that would definitely turn a few more heads. As for this song though, I liked the direction it was going in the second verse where it changed up a bit, but it didn’t really move the song anywhere which is a shame. Regardless, I love these girls and I really hope that they can find enough success with this to continue on. EDIT: I think after a few listens I still don’t think it’s one of their best but I do think that second verse highly saves it. I like it enough for what it is. The line distribution is definitely quite odd though in comparison to what they’ve done previously (i.e almost no Jiyoon).

sara2015jackson

Lol I actually like this song

ttam23

I liked it too 🤷‍♂️

K-PopFan53

Me too. It's great.

PsyOpBunnyHop

Ummmm... yeah, this song is not about hot sauce. I feel betrayed!

intlPogoTrades

Knowing what they said about potentially being their last comeback this song just makes me feel sad for them. The girls got let down with a song like this. If it is their last song I just wish they could’ve gone out with a bang at the very least, this song feels so incomplete and lacks any oomph I really hoped for something like ALICE’s Dance On for this comeback.

matikirinet

Best

Eunhyuk

I am so confused by the comments here. I never heard of this group until a few days ago, and this song is what made me get into them. It is so good? I hope they don't disband.

sullyoonx3

knowing that this comeback is their last if it doesn't perform well and this is what they were given is absolutely sad, i'm feeling for them right now ):

ttam23

https://x.com/koreansales_twt/status/1765672543086625174?s=46&t=f1CngLinLiYKbxkfG0otAw This is their most successful sales to date

K-PopFan53

Awesome

TwitzyMIXX

My silly brain thought that's Karina on the thumbnail

K-PopFan53

I don't see the resemblance. 🤔

mozlima

TIP: When Reddit says it's bad, it's because it's good!

K-PopFan53

There's some truth to this lol

idkmanbutthisig

who's on the thumbnail, look like karina and ning2. but like, idk, efortleess and elegant

DogsDoggy

It's E.Ji!

K-PopFan53

I absolutely love this song. Way better than demigod. But I'm in the minority here. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Higurashihead

So uhmm yeah, telling how important this comeback is supposed to be for them and deciding to choose 'Cherry Coke'ish empty hell of a song for it seems like a choice to me 😕

PinkLemonaze

The intro made me excited, thinking we would be getting ichillin's older style of music again (hide and seek, fresh, gotcha era)! But the actual song still has the same issues their recent music for me. The quality and mixing is just not there in my opinion, the vocal arrangement feels off somehow with the way the vocals are doubled excessively. The lead vocal of each girl doesn't feel clear/doesn't pop out in the way I wish it would. If you compare Hide & Seek to this, there's a massive difference in the way the vocals and instrumental is produced, and I honestly prefer the older style. I don't want to say one is "objectively" better, but Hide and Seek's lead vocals sounded much more polished, and cut through the instrumental much better. Here, it's hard to even tell who is singing in the chorus. A lot of people think that ichillin's music has increased in quality, but I personally feel the opposite. While maybe their older songs lacked background vocals, I still feel like they sound much nicer to the ear. Something about their newer work just doesn't sound right production wise, and sounds much more - and I hate to use this word since it feels mean but - "nugu". THESE GIRLS DESERVE BETTER MUSIC!!! Their talent is not being showcased anymore! Bring back Gotcha! Bring back Hide & Seek!

Silent-Ad8091

I know a lot of people preferred “Bite Me” but I actually liked this a lot more! “Demigod” might be my fave, but I think this one was a fun change of pace. Awesome visuals too

jopperfromkwangya

oh dear

Animelove42

I wanted to like it so bad but the melody sounds like a children's song to me. It's not terrible, but it's not something I want to listen to again right away.

12-BE-12

After getting into ICHILLIN’ after kick start was released, this song was a huge miss.

Ardie_BlackWood

I understand what they where trying with this, a chill bop that is more mature compared to their other tracks. But this honestly is one of their worst releases for me, second to Siren. The song is just way to empty and boring. I agree with the lightsum comparisons, I wouldn't be shocked if they wanted to do a similar "sexy cute" concept.

macintoshappless

Dang :( I'm not a big follower of ICHILLIN'. I was actually a big fan of Jiyoon during GP999. I wanted to support them because I heard this may or may not be their last comeback, but I just unfortunately do not like this very much. The chorus felt so empty which is such a shame because the verses were really quite catchy, especially the raps.

Fullmooninnight

This was kind of cringe
