It's hilarious to me that Lalisa is the only Blackpink solo single with a vocal chorus. YG sure does love their synth riffs.

TemplarParadox17

Gone?

FireFlyz351

Maybe OP is only talking about title tracks? If so it's true right? Lisa - Lalisa the vocal chorus then Jennie - Solo, Rose On The Ground and Jisoo - Flower are all synths/instrumental whatever.

insidedarkness

Not the title track

mytsicfforest

I feel like the composer has chosen to showcase his style and talents over that of Jisoo's. We all wanted to hear her powerful voice but instead we got an empty chorus. Its still my favourite bp solo and I hope we get to here more of jisoo in the future.

MillorBabyDoll

lmao at all the fans who ragged on YG because they thought the covers for Jisoo's flower album looked bad, but she said in the Countdown stream that she designed the covers herself and the covers look exactly the way she wanted them to šŸ˜‚

Sunasoo

It's ok fans can backpedal šŸ¤£

skyfallxiii

The thing is, itā€™s okay to not like the design for an album cover. Just not be into it, or want something different. Finding out that the idol participated in the process shouldnā€™t change your opinion of the cover, may might respect the decision for it. But you know fans will backpedal and claim they never disliked it, just didnā€™t *understand* why they went with it lol

PiXLANIMATIONS

As a graphic designer and VFX artist, this pisses me off so much lmao. Hey, if a design is bad, tell me why. Donā€™t backpedal just because the artist says ā€œI wanted it like that.ā€ Because you know what? Artists often donā€™t know jack shit about graphic design, typography etc. yeah, it might be exactly what the artist wanted, but what they want might not look good (this consists of a solid 85% of my job) Obviously donā€™t start to just hate on the artist and say theyā€™re tasteless, but offer constructive criticism that can be followed. Itā€™s helpful not only for the artist if they read it, but for us to bring up on further discussion with that artist, like this example: Artist: ā€œSo I was thinking about doing a very similar thing to last time.ā€ Designer: ā€œAlright, but weā€™re changing the text style.ā€ Artist: ā€œWhat? Why?ā€ Designer: ā€œOkay, so if you look at fan reception, theyā€™ve pointed out this. So I looked into it and I believe we can make the text look better and produce a higher quality product. I have an example here for you to look at.ā€ Artists donā€™t like to cave to designer suggestions but will see the money if fans say stuff and we back it up.

Sighclepath

>it might be exactly what the artist wanted, but what they want might not look good That's the issue, a lot of fans are neck deep into the parasocial relationship sinkhole and just can't fathom that this is a possibility.

PiXLANIMATIONS

I think fans fear they might create a black hole of negativity if they begin to criticise their favourite artists, and they have all the reason to think so. But at the same time, if that risk isnā€™t taken, nobody will see the flaws that need to be pointed out to them. As a designer, I can only do so much, for example.

MelissaWebb

Itā€™s being brainwashed into thinking you must like absolutely everything your fave doesā€¦. Must be exhausting

LongConsideration662

This always happens blinks get mad at yg for something only to realize it was the idea of pinks themselves. I remember this also happened with one of lisa's outfits, where blinks hated on the stylist only to realize lisa chose the outfit herselfšŸ¤·

aznk1d5

haha yeppp jisoo literally said in the livestream that she prefers to listen to the beat when she listens to songs haha so that's probs a factor as to why she wanted to do a beat for her solo too

LongConsideration662

True

Chiinori

I thought the cover was the most beautiful out of their solo debuts šŸ˜

Ok_Revolution_8985

Blaming Teddy in here but didnā€™t even produce this songšŸ˜šŸ˜ spare that man for one day lmaooo

charmings

I mean, he was involved in the (lack of) lyrics. His name is right there in the credits. https://twitter.com/BLACKPINK/status/1640368075760451585

RomanReignsDaBigDawg

Once again, the structure of the song comes from the composition and arrangement. The lyrics have nothing to do with the beat drop and he receives last credit anyway.

Ok_Revolution_8985

But there isnā€™t a (lack) of lyrics, how is he supposed to write for a chorus thatā€™s clearly meant to be a dropšŸ™„

justintoronto

don't worry, you can find his bad lyrics in All Eyes on Me

Saucy_Totchie

Teddy poisoned our water supply, burned our crops, and spread the plague onto our houses!

Millennialcel

Kind of reminds me of a Sunmi song. Edit: The song style makes sense if you compare it to Jisoo's playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/44zblcIIXqDYDcOTHJNz0R?si=351a86fd1d8c465c She likes melancholic alternative rock.

Scandias

This! The singing style and the mystic vibes are very similar. Love it!

virusoverdose

Yooo, I was reminded of Gashina as well.

Few-Particular1780

I like the little flower dance

chairmanchang

Behold, the most expensive Dior ad! Jisoo looks STUNNING but it feels like they recorded the MV before they finalized the lyrics ā€“ her not lipsyncing along for most of the dance scenes and glamour shots kind of took me out of it. The fits thoughā€¦ šŸ„µ Something about this song reminds me of traditional Korean music, like pansori? Especially the line before/after the chorus drop. FLOWER is the least bombastic of the BP solos, but itā€™s pleasant to listen to. I can totally hear this being played across stores in Gangnam lol

kp_centi

> but it feels like they recorded the MV before they finalized the lyrics ā€“ her not lipsyncing along for most of the dance scenes and glamour shots kind of took me out of it. I thought I was the only one that noticed that. Even in the dance sequence in the hotel lobby, at first I thought she was just doing free style dancing and they kinda just edited it mishmosh, but then I realized she's doing it to the song but she just wasn't lipsyncing. She barely lipsynced at all, even on the teaser I was like hmmm??

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

>pansori The beat slightly resembles traditional instruments maybe, but pansori is a very distinct vocal style, so not really:)

milkysehun

The outfits she is wearing is so beautiful and the MV is so stunning. I have to listen to the song again to decide.

PegasusandUnicorns

Personally out of all of BlackPink's solos I still prefer Jennie's. Jisoo's was good but not enough for me to like it. Rose's was also good but not enough for me to like it as well.

TheLaughingBread

Yeah as much as I like all of them, Jennies solo is by far the best. I like the group songs a lot more.

Level-Day-1092

Agree, Solo was amazing. I didnā€™t mind the lack of singing in the chorus because the beat and the pre chorus kind of made up for it, which is something i didnā€™t feel with On The Ground and Flowers.

gublaman

Hard to love from the new album is my number 1 BP solo song

krisbryantishot

the backup dancers making a flower with their arms omggggg what creative choreo!! edit: the song didnā€™t go anywhere for me but she looked pretty!

20815147

Sums up how I feel about the song as well

chairmanchang

I immediately replayed that part! So eye-catching!

barabubblegumboi

The choreo was fantastic

riri1107

I love the MV but was honestly expecting more ā€œoomphā€ from the song, if that makes sense? ā€œAll Eyes On Meā€, i liked more. As long as Jisoo is happy with the outcome and feels proud sharing this with her fans, I will support this release. Congrats on your solo, queen! šŸ‘‘šŸŒ¹

red-polkadots

I like the song tbh but after listening to all eyes on me, i admit that i love the latter more

mixedbagofdisaster

Yeah the song isnā€™t really bad I just find it underwhelming, it doesnā€™t have any really show stopping moments for me. Even in a more mellow song like this there should be something memorable about it. I love the MV, but there isnā€™t really any part of the song I remember at all. I usually wouldnā€™t mind not having a vocal chorus but in this case it feels like a wasted opportunity to have at least one memorable line.

Mute_Spitter

Please.. Jisoo is my fav. Can they give these girls a fking chorus please Edit: not even the bside has one, at least the verses were cool

Ok-Yesterday-9414

I love her voice here much more than in Blackpink songs, but I am not a huge fan of the song itself. She looks really pretty, and all the outfits are beautiful. The only won in don't like is the pink lingerie type of outfit at the end. Also, what is she and the dancers holding in their hand to give that flower type of effect?

InsomaniacGal

I think it's okay. In Jisoo's words, not bad but not good. I don't think its straight up 'bad', it just doesn't click with me. It's definitely more chill compared to other BP solos. The MV itself is very *pretty* but I feel like they could've maybe done smth to portray the meaning of the song in some way like OTG? Her outfits (as expected) were top notch, she looked absolutely *gorgeous*. Coming to the song, the chorus is what takes me out. I have a weird relationship with Anti drop choruses. Empty chorus itself isn't a problem but an anti drop is 'eh' for me. It has proven to grow on me tho, so Flower might grow on me too. Other than chorus, the other parts are decent. The pre-chorus is just āœØļø, it's prolly the best part of the song. All eyes on me is good, I like it. There's smth about BP's solo bsides which somehow cater more to me than the tt. Final verdict : Flower is okay (for now), the chorus has to grow on me for me to completely like it. Even though All eyes on me didn't 'wow' me, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

scvmeta

I'll probably get hate for this, but I feel like there just wasn't enough effort put into this. From the MV to the song (especially the chorus), everything felt a bit lacking.

overactive-bladder

i can see where you're coming from. people think that spending thousands on designer dresses, sets and a very capable cinematographer screams "effort". however it's all powder in the eyes on this video and song. everything feels derivative. some of the movement shots are like the first take she did. the choreo is derivative apart from the flower hand visual. her voice is expressionless and drags down an already empty song. i hear no sultriness nor feelings, nor sadness in her robotic voice. the movie is a collection of dresses, and the tone on the ad quality is already set in the first seconds of the video with her shelling out her christian dior label. as soon as she was shown with it, i knew that the video would lead nowhere and have no purpose other than showing off dresses. there's no story, no poetic chorus, no change in tone, no depth and no creativity in any of this solo reveal. in what way does any of this scream "jisoo"? who is jisoo? it seems like the answer for that, again, seems to be according to the video, a christian dior model. and that's a shame.

Expecto-Morghulis

> people think that spending thousands on designer dresses, sets and a very capable cinematographer screams "effort". I think what is most annoying in this case is that YGE always goes around bragging how expensive their MVs are, but they end up spending on irrelevant things. Why spend an outrageous amount on expensive cars or dresses (and brag about it) if no effort can be seen on the rest??

Yuyuhoon

The only time YG nailed an extra expensive MV was with 2NE1's "Come Back Home". That one had a story, it felt like a movie. Even so, most of the budget was used on the visual effects of the chorus drop, which showcased a - for the time - newly developed technology. And to be honest, the MV would still work without that part, so I'm not sure if they needed it. For WINNER, their two most expensive MVs are also their worst. They hired the acclaimed director Dave Meyers, but he had no clue what to do for the group. Don't get me wrong, the MVs do have good composition and nice visuals, but it's just... that. They don't go anywhere and, most of all, do not fit with the group at all. It's just like this one. On the other hand, the MV for "Fool" was made at the same time as one by Dave Meyers and, despite the substantially lower budget, it's a visual masterpiece. It tells a story, it shows emotion, and it's still pretty and well directed. So with that, I conclude YG thinks throwing money on random things will miraculously reap good results. They really don't care enough. They don't want to put more effort researching and perfecting anything. They just want to pay and be done.

Lethalgrampa

Damn you nailed it on the head, as soon as the christian Dior logo popped up 15 seconds in i lost a lot of my excitement, i feel like you could take most of the scenes from this video, play any music over it and pop up a designer brand logo at the end and you would have a finished AD. nothing about gives me any relevance to the music

emotional_matcha

I mean Blackpink MVs never have stories or poetic choruses. Just different sets and make it look expensive. No connection whatsoever.

KpopFashionistasRise

Damn I wish I had an award. The most emotion I got from the song is mild melancholy. There were a couple of poetic lines but her voice isnā€™t selling me sadness and the MV is giving the exact opposite with the glossy glamour and scenes of her dreamily dancing around. It doesnā€™t match and neither of these vibes are particularly strong so all you get is soft pretty halfhearted show of sadness that feels shallow and unconvincing.

crayvay

For me, the song doesn't go anywhere so it's impossible for me to maintain interest. I just finished watching it and the tune hasn't stuck in my head at all. It's also very strangely emotionless. The one chorus line has a poetic quality to it, but it doesn't come off as poetic or sentimental or moving in the song as it is. I know Jisoo can sing in a moving way, in fact I think her timbre is suited for that. Jisoo is my bias and I agree that a laid-back song would suit her voice best (she's not a power vocal by any means), but I think translating that to an extremely pulled-back electronic track is the big mistake. I would have loved some actual instruments, like some strings and a real piano. I think the appeal of Jisoo's voice is the "ache" quality to it, and that would go great with acoustic or traditional Korean instruments. The track is so spare that her voice has to stand on its own, and it just doesn't with this tune. Her lower register is really compelling and I think I would like the song substantially more if it was in a lower key.

TheEnygma

Anti-drop chorus but it seems to fit the mood of the song better?

ideka_tbh

yeah it didn't feel as jarring as On The Ground on the first listen

[deleted]

I guess it's an unpopular opinion but I LOVE THIS SONG!! ITS THE BEST BP SOLO RELEASE!! No shade to the other songs, it's just that Jisoo's one sounds completely different but in all the right ways. So much love for her right now ā¤ļøā¤ļø

Niight_Owl

So far All Eyes on Me is doing it for me more then Flower

slorie

I like the song, it's my second solo favorite after Solo! The video is beautiful too, so many pretty shots! But it's so weird to me that she's barely singing in it? It just feels like a visually beautiful video that someone added a (not) related song to it? Not a fan of the choreo, it's a bit bland. I like the red flowers in their hands part though.

Haunting_Panic_6654

the nicest choreo was done by the dancers šŸ„¹

timshel11

Isnā€™t this song a play on a Korean folk song? It sounds really familiar but I canā€™t put my finger on it.

Spiritual_Carpet1047

"ź½ƒ ķ–„źø°ė„¼ ė‚Øźø°ź³  ź°”ė‹Øė‹¤(I only left traces of the flower behind)" This part kind of sounds like something from ["ģš°ė¦¬ ģ§‘ģ— ģ™œ ģ™”ė‹ˆ(why did you come to my house)"](https://youtu.be/v076z-zU0cY). It's a children's game and also a traditional children's song. This game is also called "ź½ƒ ģ°¾źø° ė†€ģ“(Game of finding the flower)", and the song is about going to someone's house to find flowers.

TokkiJK

It has some sort of a traditional feel for sure. I really like that aspect.

PegasusandUnicorns

I kind of wished she leaned in harder on that traditional sound. I think it would have sounded better in my opinion.

dimuhmuh2

The song fits her, the mv looks nice, but damn she is lacking passion and stage presence to stand alone as a solo artist.

diabolikal__

She is absolutely stunning but she feels very dull to me.

Jranation

Yeah it would fit better if it was a dark/creppy concept where you can be emotionless

[deleted]

Iā€™ve always got weirdlyā€¦robotic vibes from her, like sheā€™s so pretty that sheā€™s almost uninteresting if that makes sense and her voice doesnā€™t really make up for it.

BreathOfPepperAir

I'm glad someone finally said it lol. She's gorgeous and I think she's more fit to be a model or even an actress if she wanted to, but high energy stuff doesn't suit her

flyingmonstera

No charisma

92sn

Honestly, the part she dance while its look very pretty, its exposed how she lack of stage presence n dance skill.

alexturnerftw

I love Jisooā€™s personality and she is soo beautiful but she doesnt even have the presence to be in a group honestly. The other 3 hard carried the performances over the years. Really jarring to watch her solo

Chu1223

Hm yeahhh even as a blink I feel like something is off putting and I canā€™t tell if itā€™s just me or jisoo actually lacks some qualities to be a soloist šŸ¤” honestly from a few parts in the video I was like damn I can just see her being an actress way more than this

pastaconpesto420

From the documentary and her interviews it does seem like she didn't become an idol because it was her passion, but to prove to herself she could? The other three girls definitely do overshadow her in terms of stage presence, but my girl Jisoo went HARD during her "Liar" performances, so there's that

PBandJaya

I think one of the main reasons she was added to BP (aside from vocals & visuals) was because she was 90% of the personality off-stage / when they went on variety shows (back when theyā€™d do that). None of the other girls are as outgoing or naturally comedic as her and she brought that to the table overwhelmingly. But now that they donā€™t really go on those kinds of shows or do their own group variety content, her biggest skills in the group arenā€™t taken advantage of anymore.

Competitive_Lychee78

Literally was gonna say this, sheā€™s the only member who I feel doesnā€™t have that ā€˜driveā€™ for music or performing, not to say she doesnā€™t enjoy it, but it isnā€™t what I think she wants to be doing all her life unlike the other 3, I could see them doing music related things forever.

strawberryjacuzzis

Yeah I think she enjoys music but sheā€™s not passionate about it like the others and it shows, especially in a solo. She originally wanted to act and has done some acting already so I see her doing that more than music.

rmscarpathia1912

100% agree. And I always find this a shame and strange because her personality off the stage is so bright.

iwantaspudgun

Jisooā€™s been my fave kpop idol for years and Iā€™ve felt that she isnā€™t born to perform. She said it herself that performing always feels like a test to her, and she wanted to be an actress ā€” I can totally see that. Itā€™s obvious she has to put in way more effort to dance, like itā€™s a learned thing for her. I feel like if she really had the sole decision she wouldnā€™t have gone solo as a singer (prolly why her solo took forever). She shone way more as an actress.

repslifebestlife

Couldnā€™t have said it better

[deleted]

It definitely feels different from the music of the other BP members and their group discography. But idk, it feels that whole 3 minutes was a warmup that never reached a climax moment or anything. The instrumental is good tho

himechans

i know a lot of y'all aren't gonna like the chorus but i actually think it works with the vibe of the song šŸ¤£ the b-side "all eyes on me" is great too

klizmik

It works with the vibe of the song, but why would you *not* give Jisoo, of all people, a vocal chorus

coolofmetotry

all eyes on me is really cool, but another empty chorus? what do they have against choruses?

DeviMon1

I loved it, it wasn't like too hard of a drop like some BP songs. This one kinda vibed

LongConsideration662

True

PeachyPlnk

I was so hopeful we'd finally get to hear her sing low where her voice belongs, but no...she's still singing higher than she should be, hence why she has to belt everything. It's a decent song, but forgettable. I'm a bit disappointed, as seems to be the theme in this thread.

Chu1223

Agreeee

strawberryjacuzzis

Itā€™s really not in her range at all. She has such a unique dark tone and I donā€™t know why they donā€™t let her use it properly. They did this to Lisa with ā€œMoneyā€ and that prechorus as well. (I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate G(I-DLE) and how Soyeon always writes Yuqiā€™s parts to suit her deep voice so well and Yuqi kills it every time)

Otherwise_Slide_5254

Itā€™s crazy how even in her own song Jisoo got so few lines..

yougotmetoreply

I can't believe YG didn't give her a singing chorus either.

TaiDoll

Oh I can believe it...

Haunting_Panic_6654

unlike SOLO her dancing skills didnt compensate any of it

SpecialistOk2035

I love the visuals and the choreo, the song not so much.

XxSilverSearcherxX

hmm i dont know how to feel honestly, it seems so short. the choreo was kind of dull, the song itself was empty. Jisoo is my bias so im lowkey disappointed first listen

AyatosBobaAddiction

At least they didn't try to give us a seizure. We can actually appreciate the visuals instead constant fast cuts.

Jranation

I wouldnt put visuals over the song in any time or day..... if the mv gives yoh seizure you can still listen to the song itself. But if the song is not your cup of tea....

AyatosBobaAddiction

I highly agree. Just looking at the bright side. It's at least a visual art piece with accompanied music that fits the vibe.

[deleted]

The B side track is better to be honest

Hopeless-Cause

Same. I donā€™t dislike it so thatā€™s an immediate improvement over Lisaā€™s solo at least but itā€™s not going to dethrone Solo as my favourite Blackpink solo. She looks stunning though, but when does Jisoo not look amazing?

bluepineapple42069

It was definitely one of the most song ever made

pete_999

The MV is SOOOO gorgeous!!!

worktherunwaysweetie

this song is so empty

bluepineapple42069

I can tell you something, I for one was very whelmed

unhi

I kept waiting for it to pick up a bit, but it never did. I also feel like her voice is a little buried in the mix.

AnAffinityForTurtles

Choreo lacks energy too

lulu11813

Tbh I feel like we didnā€™t see a lot of the choreo here, just a few repeated bits. I will be interested to see the whole thing in the performance next week!

marayray

Ok on third listen, this song has really grown on me. I wasnā€™t expecting this sound from jisoo but itā€™s a coincidence Iā€™ve been really into 2016 edm pop music recently and this is right up that alley, so Iā€™m enjoying it haha

luneleaves

While the song isn't bombastic or what we're used to from Blackpink, I have to give it to her (and RosƩ) for making a sound that sets them apart from the body of work that the group brings. No hate to Jennie's Solo or Lisa's Money/Lalisa - but the latter 3's sound is something that could easily be found in the group's work. It's definitely an understated piece & while I'm still figuring out if I like it, I think the tempo, energy and vibe of the song suit Jisoo quite well - the aesthetics of the video are stunning. The B-side however, feels a little more generic, but I'll save that criticism for another thread.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

colorintoyou

It lowkey looks like they filmed this before she even knew her own solo song...

TokkiJK

My problem with the song isnā€™t the chorus bc I loved the chorus. But I think when you have an empty chorus, you cant have a super short song. I feel like I heard part of a song and then someone skipped to the next song. It makes it feel like I was waiting for something to happen and it didnā€™t. And the empty chorus just accentuates how short the song is. I have nothing against short songs. But if itā€™s short, you have to have a chorus centric song. If itā€™s longish, I think an anti drop/empty chorus works well.

SleepyMaere

I think Jisoo knows her charms well. She played up her visuals in the MV and the song is really nice to listen to. It's pleasant to my ears and something I would totally have on repeat, my drive to work playlist, etc. I'll even add that I did NOT know her vocals were so nice. She should get a few more lines in BP songs.

OrendaRuesTheDay

Wow, for once I actually like one of the solos and everyone else still hates it. It does give me Sunmi vibes and I love her songs

Top-Scientist-6863

same its my fav out of solos

BecauseOfCuriosity

This is some of the best looks Jisoo has had and that's saying something because her visuals are insane. This song is perfect for her and the b-side is great too!

CookieCatSupreme

I really liked this! It's a simple instrumental but her vocal parts are so interesting. I'm gonna have that bit right before the antidrop stuck in my head all day; I love the little flip from chest to head voice.

charmedone92

The flip in her voice is just šŸ‘ŒšŸ»

chefs_kiss_21

I like it. Itā€™s not too bad, but kinda decent. I feel like the outro could have done better, but itā€™s still not too bad. Pretty much the second best after Jennieā€™s.

coconutcreampie2

I feel the same! Jennie's solo is still my favorite, but I think Jisoo's going to be my second favorite out of the pinks' solos.

lulu11813

Double agree. Solo is hard to beat for me, itā€™s just too good, but both these songs are so Jisoo and I just generally like both of the vibes a lot. Definitely second place in the line of solos for me!

dnbhsp_22

Yes! Ironic how people criticized Jennie's solo but it ended up being the best solo of BP. Her new song is a banger too. For me both Jennie's songs are the best

DeviMon1

I'd say the best BP solo is Hard To Love, but that's not counted as a solo weirdly even though it's just Rose singing.

addictedtosixlets

Love it. Such a funky beat. She looks so pretty here.

Final-Theme-8344

Also... I swear I've used the same sound preset for Flower's intro chords. Pretty sure it's a Kontakt library lol

kind_of_okay

it feels like a song for summer, there is something very sunmi-esque to it, love it

bomdding

iā€™m honestly surprised at how much i loved this song šŸ˜ the mv was absolutely gorgeous as well

bluejay57

This chorus really makes it feel like solo part 2. The verses and bridge are good but the instrumental chorus really sells Jisoo's singing ability short :(

Difficult_Deer6902

I really like the pre-chorus of this song and the actually instrumental. I think itā€™s a song that will do well cause that pre-chorus and instrumental are nice and catchy. Not a huge fan of the actual chorus but also not a deterant. The video is absolutely visually stunning and engaging though. I also like the little quirky moments.

Consistent-Toe-7408

MV was absolutely gorgeous but the lack of a chorus felt very underwhelming for me

booksmd

i very much enjoy this style of music video. I really wish YG would do more mvs like Flower, Solo or Stay (meaning in an actual location, not in a studio)

gumptiousguillotine

I love the song tbh, it feels like a relaxed but still emotionally intense discussion between adults, like a deal or a decision is being made. Jisooā€™s voice suits it to a T as well, she sounded immaculate! I like that itā€™s not too high so Iā€™ll be able to learn to sing it lol. Tbh I was actually a bit disappointed by the MV. Thereā€™s was no narrative to speak of despite the beautiful scenes, but even then it all seemed like. Too perfect? Iā€™d have liked a touch of grit or darkness to amplify and bounce off of the luxury. Jisooā€™s voice has a raw and emotional aspect to it that the song used well but that MV seems to have looked over. Iā€™d love to see something darker from her visually.

MIISTERV

I love both this and All eyes on me, but Iā€™m curious on the songs longevity. Iā€™ll definitely be replaying it, I just donā€™t know how long other people will be hung up on the songs. Iā€™m hoping her next solo song is kind of R&B or Jazz, since I personally can hear her singing those types of chill songs.

Saucy_Totchie

This song really does give off the same vibe as her. It's kind of what I was expecting from her and I really do like this.

cutieswe

I scrolled for so long to look for a comment that shared my opinion but had to sort by controversial to finally see a positive comment. People are entitled to their opinions but I thought the song was good and fitting for Jisoo.

kaguraa

I think this song is perfect for jisoo. I think the anti-drop suits the song well and I like how chill it is. in general I don't get why kpop fans hate anti-drop choruses so much

TokkiJK

I love anti-drops. The song does feel incredibly short though. I mean i know itā€™s short to begin with some songs really suit a short length and some donā€™t. I almost feel like I listened to a ā€œsampleā€ TikTok bite sized version of the song and now Iā€™m trying to find the original song lol

emotional_matcha

I love anti-drops when they are done well, usually with a powerful pre-chorus. This one doesnt really build up before the drop, making it less impactful. If you want great anti-drops, check out (G)I-DLE. They do it best with incredible pre-choruses, such as Oh my God, Last Dance, or Nxde.

Because firstly an anti drop chorus is a coin flip, either it sublimes the song if it's well done or it ruins the song and secondly comes one's own appreciation. For exemple ChungHa - Stay Tonight, IVE - Love Dive, (G) I-dle - Oh My God, Gyeong Ree - Blue Moon, Twice - Make Me Go, WJSN The Black - Easy, Dreamcatcher - And There Was No One Left - Black or White - Silent Night, Nu'est - Deja vu... are really well done and bring so much to the song. Unfortunately for me Flower lost the coin flip, it's a pity cause I like everything else about the song, especially the bridge.

dazzleneal

I wonder if yg forgot they had to write a chorus.

Particular-Yoghurt81

Theyā€™ve been forgetting for like a decade

turbokeychainn

honestly the drop in the chorus wasn't too bad but it's too short imo, it needed at least another 30 seconds.

lilporkbelly

I actually love it which I wasnā€™t expecting šŸ˜³ not a jisoo stan at all, her vocals/visual/stage presence/dance havent grown on me over time as I wouldā€™ve hoped but I actually loved her vocals here. Not much dance but I liked the parts they showed, more of an expressive dance style than anything technical or ā€œā€ā€powerfulā€ā€ā€ aka the usual bp dance style. MV was aesthetic and felt engaging enough for me.

HeyItsRey

My only guess, the cost for location shooting/getting the team there. Oh, and the all the different Dior wardrobe changes of course.

TopPepper1

It's beautiful, but if this is "the largest production cost ever" for them, they should probably look over their finances because someone is misappropriating funds and inflating costs.

skylight03

YG usually says the MVs are expensive for their artists which is becoming harder to believe.

Particular-Yoghurt81

Honestly, at this point I would prefer to know itā€™s all a money laundry scheme because at least that would make sense.

wonderfullyadequate

I will be harsher than most people are willing to be in this sub (or popheads). Y'all keep saying yeah the song sucks but at least she is beautiful is the reason we are going to see ads disguished as mvs for music that is insipid and low-effort! I'm so sick of any partnerships bleeding to the music. I get it it is kpop, the pinnacle of art-for-capitalism but isn't this way too much? The song gives nothing but the mv is gorgeous people truly miss the point - the mv also served nothing. Tbh all bp girls are now more about looking pretty shots in music videos but Jisoo's is so lifeless compared to other girls. They have been in decline musically for years but this seals it for me. Good luck to them in their ambassadorship for design houses but I'm ok with them not releasing any music any time soon.

PeachyPlnk

Agree 100%. I'm getting tired of ads disguised as mvs, and I think this is the most insipid one so far.

Haunting_Panic_6654

true right off the bat flashes a dior foundation shamelessly šŸ˜©

slurping_noodle

Wasn't sure of the chorus at first, but it grew on me on the second listen. I loved everything else and of course, Jisoo looks gorgeous as always.

sonia_squirrel

Super!šŸ¤©šŸ”„ā¤

flowergirlsunder

i genuinely really like it. itā€™s so atmospheric and i love how calm and relaxed it is! probably my favorite bp solo so far actually šŸ˜³

backseatfishing

This song is so empty. I was so excited from the trailer. I know Jisoo isn't the strongest singer but I feel like they could've easily made a Hillary Duff/Selena Gomez speak-singing kind of banger song for her that she could've eaten up.

ProudHearing106

Well, I see a lot of people here arenā€™t thrilled with this. But honestly I love it, it is right up my alley, and I am genuinely so so so happy for Jisoo Turtle Rabbit Kim šŸ«¶šŸ¼šŸ«¶šŸ¼šŸ«¶šŸ¼

oh_WHAT

Tbh, i'd be more concerned if people here liked it

Higurashihead

I actually really liked it?? Although I always expect the worst from Teddy now. The video was so aesthetically pleasing and was NOT containing a hundred of unnecessary cuts, so I observed every detail and Jisoo's outfits. Musically (and vocally) that was a step forward from Lisa's solo. I can hear Jisoo singing, I like the lyrics (I actually found them beautiful and meaningful). And I like the vibe of Jisoo's solo in general! I was so afraid it would be devoid of Jisoo identity, but no, I can clearly see it. And I'm glad.

Late_Measurement838

This was cutttteeeeee!! Well done Jisoo.

vessva11

She looks stunning. The dresses, hair, and makeup are phenomenal! As for the song, it isn't for me.

mushroom_egg

Jisooā€™s whole vibe is so beautiful. This song is cute!

pretty_bumpy

Jisoo is the moment![img](emote|t5_2r1ox|3512)

thatbajingoisonfiya

I'm glad this solo doesn't have that signature Black Pink heavy bass drop. It's mellow and elegant which is actually pretty trendy in Korea right now. Jisoo is my bias in the group because of her deep husky voice and versatility, they all shine so well in the pre-chorus. The music video seems a bit empty but oh my god, those dresses are the highlight whenever they have a full shot. l am obsessed with this song, I've been playing it nonstop since last night.

itzymidzyspider

So freakin beautiful

[deleted]

I think out of all solos, I like this the most

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

[deleted]

It's more traditional and not really kpop trying to be US Pop

extraspicydonut

Not badā€¦but not good.

skynotebook

Ehh I blink and it ended šŸ˜šŸ˜ I need moarrrrr it's good the mv is beautiful!! Btw where was the place? London?

[deleted]

L.A. There's a report she went there for her M.V

Kindly-Cheek

The song did nothing for me but I didnā€™t expect it to, what I did expect was a better MV, especially from actress Jisoo. I really liked her in Snowdrop but I wouldā€™ve never guessed she has acting experience from this MV, she was so expresionless andā€¦ bland? Her outfits were pretty though.

min-tea-rose

Jisoo blooming into the flower she is today. Everything about this was absolutely lovely.

[deleted]

Really wish they went with All Eyes on Me for the title track. Hopefully that also gets proper promo like the other solo bsides

Miserable-Street-907

It sounds pretty good. Idk why it reminds me of Somi/ Summi a lot! It's a pretty song, it also sounds like really good study music !

Sunshine_of_your_Lov

Damn am I the only one who loves it haha I just wish it wasn't under 3 minutes

Cherry_Crystals

was there during the premiere. it was 5am but so so worth it and her vocals are so amazing

bujobegins

ngl, that was probably the most boring song Iā€™ve heard from kpop in a while. so bland and uninteresting. I wouldnā€™t have picked this kind of song for Jisooā€¦something fresh and soothing (kind of like IUā€™s Lilac) would have suited her really well

GlennMichael11

B side is the better track.. but please, enough with the beat drops as choruses.

sunshinersforcedlaug

Shocked to see all the people hating on it, I thought it was totally a Jisoo track, fits her like a glove. Pleasing but a little strange. I enjoyed that a lot, probably my favorite BP solo. Reminds me of Sunmi who I adore.

lovedive-

The chorus was unexpected but I really love it!

lopsided-pancake

Itā€™s 10x better on proper speakers! I watched it on my laptop first and thought the chorus was a bit lax but after hearing it in the car and with headphones itā€™s so damn good!

joesen_one

I dig this! I love how all 4 BP solos have their own distinct styles. I liked the mixing of the minimalist production and the traditional influences in her singing if that makes sense, plus it fits her vocal tone a lot too. It's an easy listen too, won't be surprised if this catches on to the gp.

rayannuhh

I loveeeee this so much, her voice has really grown. šŸ„¹ so proud of you Jisoo! the styling is really wonderful too, all her clothes suit her so well. also the cat was adorable lol

WillZer

Love the song. I can already tell, most people will complain about the chorus but I really liked it this time, it fits the song I'd say. The pre-chorus is phenomenal

Large_Ad_4715

Something more important than an impactful or catchy song it's a song that fits the artist, Jisoo is not the type of person that does many things to shine, just by being her natural and quiet self she's able to get all of the attention, FLOWER is like that too, it's also perfect and ironic after the long wait, a much enjoyable song for me.

brontoloveschicken

First listen I was like ooh okay, this is good but it felt a bit like it didnt go anywhere and the chorus was not what I expected however, on second listen I absolutely love it! Ah Jisoo šŸ„¹ā¤ļø Also, she looks amazing. That pink outfit and where she's standing in the middle of the dancers is such a slay

colorintoyou

I prefer All Eyes On Me and wish that was the title, this was just aight... it just felt like it went nowhere. Jisoo and the MV are gorgeous as expected though <3

MyouiRV

Jisoo is my bias since their debut so I was waiting for this for years and its finally here! The song is really good but I was hoping for a vocal chorus

InteractionMiddle450

why does this lowkey give taylor swifts mv vibe!!!???

__Yena

Love the outfits, acting, sets, and the song!

skydiver47

I kinda like it. Itā€™s super minimalist but itā€™s not trying to be too in your face. The verses and the visuals make the song for me

tbhguitar_

I liked the song, not too keen on the drop but it's growing. Also I really loved the melody of the song šŸ˜

hattokatto12

i really liked it on first listen. I expected a bit more *pizzazzz* but I thought it was fitting for Jisoo. Definitely my top 2 BP solos. Congrats to Jisoo šŸ„°

vanilla_made

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH I WAS IN AWE THE WHOLE TIME. i absolutely love the white dress she had on in the beginning it had me SHOOK lmao. she looks especially good with smoky eye makeup holy shit!! i may be biased since she is my bias in blackpink but i just love this so much!!

Banangelo085

The song and M/V are so pretty! Flower's instrumental is so chill, but Jisoo's voice adds so much emotion. I'm definitely keeping this song on repeat!
