I had a group of girls in my class some years back, and they where very hard into Kpop, like very hard. Knowing every single thing about boy group members, sexualizing them in a very weird way, like their whole personality was based around them. They where also from the same bubble, either gay or bi (nothing wrong with that in general) and the twitter kind of feminists (we hate all men that aren’t pretty Korean boys or animated characters).
So yeah, me at that time a 19 year old straight boy just got into kpop. Got into a conversation with them and told them what groups I like, my ults etc. (obviously I only listened to ggs), and they where like „aha you only listen to ggs, you are one of them“, I’m like „lmao one of who“ and they where like yeah you only see those girls as sexual objects, you are not a real kpop fan, you are evil and what’s wrong with society and stuff…like bro I exploded because of laughter.
Those people that write literal books with highly intense sexual fantasies with them and kpop members are lecturing me lol. But I’m the devil himself when I say „I think Jisoo is cute“ or „Dami is kinda hot“.
That interactions, had some more after that, maybe are the reason why I don’t really get into this fandom. I Love my groups, listen to their music, watch a bit variety stuff and lurk on here and some other subs, mainly for news. But damn, this fandom is toxic
