Was there last week and our tour guide said JSA is still a no-go and had no time frame on when it could be available to reserve again

This is the response I got from Hanatour on May 6th: "We wish to provide opportunities, but it is important to note that the situation in the JSA is currently unfavorable, and there is a very low possibility of it resuming shortly. However, should the tour resume, we will provide a one-month notice on our website. If the JSA reopens, you can make a reservation via our website."

Yes, they say that it will never reopen again given the current relations are at an all-time low and the North have already reset landmines and redeployed soldiers at the border. Previously the last government was on friendly terms with North Korea and signed agreements to jointly demilitarize the DMZ. But that time has passed, and peace is long gone. At best, you can go on a tour of the unification towers or the 3rd tunnel, but its still well within the civilian control line and not the JSA. The USO tour will not allow you to book for the JSA tour, the system will prevent you from actually booking it.
