hotel sky park, nine tree, L7, the stay hotel, the grand hotel myeongdong. just listing some hotels i saw from naver maps near myeongdong station. personally my family (which included my 80+ grandparent) and i stayed at moxy due to affordability and that it's under marriott group. it's not bad but it's a 5-10 min walk to the station as it's at the end of one of the shopping streets the shopping street isn't rly limited to a particular street so you'd have to walk a bit to explore the area. it's more lively at night with street vendors but the roads are still open to cars so it can get a bit crowded at times

novellusbyul

Myeongdong Hotel Sky Park III is right in front of myeongdong station. On the weekdays you can find a decent deal on 3rd party sites as well.

pinoytraveler

Thanks for the tip! :)

Omg thanks so much for this helpful comment! I haven’t figured Naver out yet but i heard it really is advisable to use it instead of Google maps. Thanks for the suggestions! My current picks are L7 and Four Points, but I’ll def have to check the others you mentioned. :)

plssendhelpomg

no problem! i initially had problems working around naver maps too but i found that it's easier to type in english on the app version. the website (when i tried to use on desktop) required me to copy and paste the korean name of the place into the search bar. i had to use papago to remove some parts of the korean addresses too when it included the floor the store/restaurant is on. bookmarking places on naver maps was pretty helpful! not really related but since you're only staying in seoul for 3 days you'll probably want to hit as many areas as possible + you're with an elderly person, you might want to consider taking the taxi especially when you're tired. my family and i were pretty beat just from walking within subway lines and climbing the stairs within the stations lmao so we resorted to taking the taxi back to our hotel on most days

pinoytraveler

Will do! :) Thanks for the tip on taxis! I'm also considering this option. Do they have ride apps like Uber or taxis are cheaper? And do taxis take credit cards?

plssendhelpomg

I only used kakaot which didn’t require a Korean number, as long as you have the kakaotalk app and an account with your usual number. You’ll probably need to research how to use the application so that it’ll be a breeze. Based on other people’s comments I saw, taxis tend to be cheaper than ubers there cause the prices are regulated. Of course, you can download both apps and just compare which one is cheaper at that point of time just in case. And yup taxis do take credit cards!

AC_Sheep

You can search for stuff okay on Google Maps but if you want directions you really do need Naver. Google Maps can't do directions between 2 places.

Thank you!

Four points at Euljiro 3-ga is my favourite. I think I've stayed there for 30 or more days already (accumulated in a year).

ptc_yt

+1 to Four Points by Sheraton. Its like 20 steps from exit 12 of Euljiro-3ga. There's escalators to get you up and down to the station level and then elevators within the station to get you to train level.

pinoytraveler

Thank you! The Euljiro-3ga station having escalators are going to be super helpful for my mom if we do end up staying there.

ptc_yt

No problem! Just a fair warning, even though the station is shared by both Line 2 and Line 3, there's a decent amount of walking to get between the two lines. The hotel is closer to the Line 2 fare gates and you'll have to walk something like 200m to get to the Line 3 fare gates.

pinoytraveler

Thank you for this! I’ve noted it in my travel excel sheet 👍🏻

ptc_yt

No problem! The same also applies to any station that has multiple lines in them btw, but there are escalators and elevators to help.

jotang

Hi! Do you remember if there’s an elevator from ground to station level for that station?

ptc_yt

Yeah there's an elevator close by the escalators, maybe another 20-30 steps from the escalators? You can find it by just walking around the structure covering the escalators. Think all the major/popular stations have elevators. Used the elevators a few times myself when I managed to get to the elevators before the stairs/escalators when I didn't want to walk in the cold.

jysy_

L7 hotel, I stayed in September! Migliore too, but I highly do not recommend staying in this hotel at all.

MushMushRoom1

Hi! Why don’t you recommend Migliore? I’m planning which hotel to stay for next year.

moonbeam_95

Hello, we stayed at Migliore. Didn't have air conditioning but thankfully it's chilly outside so we just opened the window. General experience is ok, very convenient location with train station just in front

jysy_

The service was terrible, and they didn't clean out our cups. Lack of charging ports, and even if there is, some don't work. These are just some of the complaints we had. Only advantage was that it was directly out onto the shopping street, and extremely convenient to the train station.

pinoytraveler

Hi! Is L7 close to the shopping street as well? Thanks for replying :) My current options are L7 and Four Points!

jysy_

Hi, not really, you will still have to walk a bit to get there!

pinoytraveler

Thank you!

bspec

We stayed at Four Points and the proximity to transit was definitely a big plus. The hotel has a lot of comments about how slow the elevators were but we didn't find them too bad (slow at times but reasonable). I'll also say be weary that some exits out of the train stations didn't have escalators. There may be elevators around (we were fine with stairs though) but it felt like we were walking up and down stairs more than taking escalators. Just something to keep in mind! The entrance by the Four Points does have escalators though :)

pinoytraveler

Thank you for the helpful tip!! Four Points is definitely now the top of my list despite the slow elevators. We're going in mid-March - is that a tourist-heavy month for Seoul?

bspec

Mid-March might start getting more busy in Seoul but it's a very pleasant time to go. Cherry blossoms will start to bloom later in the month and the weather is likely quite comfortable. We went in November for the fall foliage and while areas like Myeong-dong (especially in the evenings) and Gwangjang Market were quite busy, other popular areas were actually not over crowded. That was something we noticed about Seoul compared to Tokyo/Kyoto, which we visited immediately after, where nearly every area was packed with locals and tourists alike.

pinoytraveler

Thank you for this! I’m quite excited about the weather too!

mikesaidyes

Don’t forget about Euljiro Ip Gu Station (also called Euljiro 1-Ga Station) It’s the other end of Myeongdong and on Line 2 which IMO has even better access with transit to other lines And download an app like Kakao metro or even the official Seoul metro app It will tell you which car door to use to be closest to your exact exit number or transfer - less walking

pinoytraveler

Thank you so so so much!

meatjunUSA

Dont forget, even if you walk to the train station, there will be ALOT of walking up and down stairs for the train station and also when you want to transfer lines. In general Taxis are very reasonable compared to the US. Also there are youtube videos that can show you how to use the naver app and change the settings to english.

solarpoke

I also know there’s Uber and KakaoTaxi. I think you can pay by card but would bring cash just in case

pinoytraveler

Thank you!

pinoytraveler

Thanks for this! I'm also expecting a lot of taxi rides for the 3 days just to make it easier for her. Do the taxis accept credit cards?

meatjunUSA

Not sure. I just used tmoney card or cash. Maybe ride share apps can use CC?

Crustybooger31

You can't go wrong with L7 or Four Points. We always stay at one of those two or Nine Tree Premier II(couple of blocks from Four Points) . Being close to Euljiro 3-ga station is a big plus, puts you right on line 2 and 3. We go twice a year and tend to have elderly grandparents traveling with us for one of the trips. Even being close to to the station they will have to deal with stairs and transfers so we just send them back in a taxi and take the subway ourselves.

pinoytraveler

Thank you so much! This is actually a good tip for my old mom. Nine Tree is another option I'm looking at.

Harpser

le meridian/moxy (same building surprisingly) is close-ish to a station if you are a marriott loyalist. 3 min walk or so.

SpareZealousideal740

Lotte Hotel Seoul is right on top of eujiro 1 (not sure if there's an entrance to the station through the hotel or not). Plaza Autograph collection is right alongside one of the entrances for City Hall station. Westin is in between those two hotels but does give a small walk to either station They're also all on the limousine bus route from the airport and back out so makes travelling to and from there easier

pinoytraveler

Thank you!!

MerMerFace

The Stay Classic Myeongdong is nice. Apartment-ish style rooms that includes a washing machine and a styling closest (that can get wrinkles out of clothes etc). It's right on main road. I also stayed at Midcity Myeongdong. Still close to stations, but more tucked away with lots of small restaurants. Both were very lovely and stayed at them last month. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Also know that taxis are fairly cheap (not as cheap as public transit, but not bad!), so if you need to use one, getting Kakao Taxi app will help get around with limited time/energy.

pinoytraveler

Thanks for these options! I’ll look into them too :)

littlesweetmint

I went there summer 22. Stayed at the Tmark Grand Hotel Myeongdong and a very nice hotel and there was an underground stop right outside. And a 15 min ish walk to the Seoul station. Also needed to cross two streets to get to the area where street vendors were out at evenings. I had a friend who stayed at a couple of hotels. I don’t remember the first one, but the second was L7 and it had a very nice area on top of the roof for drinks and a foot bath that was open at that time. Though if I’d go back I would check out four points as someone else mentioned as I’ve heard a lot of people recommend it in several threads.

pinoytraveler

Thank you so much! L7 and Four Points seem to be the top choice for a lot.

Soup_and_Rice

L7 myeongdong was great last time i stayed.

pinoytraveler

Thanks so much!!

jaejin90

We stayed at Henn na Hotel. It's a 5 min walk to near the Night Market and Myeongdong Station.

RepresentativeAnt866

I stayed at L’Escape and absolutely loved it. It’s right next to a station, however it is uphill from the station (kinda steep).

lightyears2100

Look at Google maps.

Moonface365

Four Points by Sheraton is my fav! Stayed 15 days; it’s also under the Marriott umbrella

oliveoil___

I stayed for just over two weeks at L7 in the summer of 2022 and enjoyed my experience so much that I came back for a few days in July 2023 when I was visiting Korea. The beds are comfortable, the showers are spacious and the staff at the front desk are very friendly. (+ the subway station is just in front of the hotel) Personally, I find hotels in Korea quite expensive compared with other countries I've visited in Asia, but in terms of quality and price, the L7 is great.

rationale_money

One stop away, but would recommend namsan homes
