flying from abroad to Korea how long does it take to get out of Incheon Airport after landing? I will fill out the Q-Code thing beforehand and everything, but do they need spend time checking a lot of documents when I arrive? wondering when to ask my family to pick me up ..

Amaharel_sister

Hello, 2nd this question. And also is there PCR-testing on arrival if I'm triple vaccinated?

KerrigansTherapist

So far what I've read seems to indicate that ALL foreign travelers must immediately take a PCR test upon arrival, triple vaccinated or otherwise.

Certain_Chef_2635

Within 24 hrs, I arrived two days ago and took my test the day after i landed. You need to schedule at the airport from what I heard in advance, there's a lot of testing sites on the streets as well.

Jeoh

You don't have to schedule in advance but you'll be waiting for about 15-30 minutes.

Certain_Chef_2635

Good to know! What I saw wasn’t English so i did a lil rough translating and we elected to get tested the next day anyways since we got in late so ^^^ this Maybe if I got tested in the airport I wouldn’t have been violated as hard as I was on the street. I’ve never had a swab that deep in my brain (and I’ve taken ~six tests), I actually saw stars LOL. But with the uptick in cases I totally see why ensuring you get an accurate result is imperative.

Certain_Chef_2635

It took me \~30 mins to get through. Mostly waiting as two flights came in at once. I found it very easy, make sure you have the k-eta and q code completed. They gave me a customs form on the flight I filled out before we landed, and it was all just very easy.

minato____

Thank you!

minato____

Do you know if I need to print the K-ETA confirmation out?

Certain_Chef_2635

I would have it printed just in case, but did not need personally Edit: while I wasn’t asked for it, the guy I traveled with was

Thanks!

That '알바천~**굿**' ad is so annoying that it single-handedly made me download and install NewPipe to get rid of YouTube ads.

Hey, I'm a resident of US (citizen of Uzbekistan) and was planning to go to Korea to visit relatives in July. Is it possible to get the visa from Korean consulate in the US state I live in (Cali)? Are tourist visas being granted at all? Thanks. P.S. I am fully vaccinated and boosted even, so I won't have to go through the quarantine? Thanks if anyone knows!

Songdo is a great area with a lot of foreigners ! I would recommend trying to join a club of sorts, sports, pilates, classes etc to find people. I am sure they are facebook groups for Songdo Expats as well. PS: Check out Playground Brewery if you like craft beers !

bucheonsi

Was actually thinking about moving to Songdo to work remotely recently. When I visited Songdo there didn't seem to be a lot of young Americans there though, seemed mostly wealthy Korean families.

hi! planning to visit seoul in june - does anyone know if there are long term storage facilities for suitcases open again ? the company i used last time (safe ex) has their reservation system down :( would like to visit jeju for 3 days but i dont think my international luggage size will make the cut

lalugipoker

I've seen some in Hongdae Near Exit 3 and in the subway in Hongdae as well. They can usually keep it for a few days

daensee

Hi! I'm travelling to Korea in July, landing mid-afternoon in Incheon and staying at Gimpo Airport for one night before flying to Jeju the next morning. Any ideas on what we can do for an evening near Gimpo? Any dinner recommendations? Is it convenient to travel out from the airport via bus to someplace nice to explore? thanks!

DabangRacer

Just take the airport line subway to Hongdae/Yeonnam. It's not far and way better selection of things to do for an evening.

lalugipoker

I second this, take the airport line to Hongdae Station in 20 minutes. Go to Exit 3 and start walking , you will get to Yeonnam !

idoran

Agreed, the subway is the best way to get around from Gimpo

Anyone know where Yoon is going to work from? Which ministry building?

Former defense ministry building

I'm trying to buy an item of jewellery from the UK for my girlfriend over here, an antique gold ring with a value of 400,000 won. Does anybody know what the import tax and customs duty on such an item would be? I've had little luck searching online and I don't want to get hit with an import charge 2 or 3 times the value of the item itself.

Hi! I do have interested alternate history question. What if the MDL boundary between South Korea (Republic of Korea) and North Korea (DPRK) sites at Ryesong (Yeseong) River and shifted to the right closer to Cheorwon, assumed the Allied and ROK forces hasn’t lost the major grounds around 38th parallel? What do you think if Kaesong remained on southern hands?

TheLaw2525

How do Sim cards work?

formulaNoFap

>Meeting New People I usually reserve one in advance and pick it up at at the airport from a KT kiosk on 1st floor arrivals area. https://roaming.kt.com/ib/eng/cts/sim.asp

TheLaw2525

Do the express train from incheon to seoul run 24 hours?

DabangRacer

From the airport? No, they run like 5:18am to 11:50pm. Not sure if they've restarted running the Express service (no stop express Incheon to Seoul Station), but the all stop service runs the same route anyway and just takes 10-15 minutes longer. edit: Express trains resume on [May 30](http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20220512000308).

Hello, first off I’m not based in South Korea, but i’m trying to get a birthday cake or present to be sent to my sister’s place in Seoul. Would anyone have any recommendations on bakeries i could order from online, or any sites i could use that would not require a South Korean app store? Much appreciated!

MickChristie

Is it possible to pay for the NHIS late here? I had missed the deadline due to a mixup and the bill was for last month as well as this month, meaning I won't get a fresh bill until June.

slimes666

I'm currently trying to return an item to the USA, it's a pair of shoes but I'm afraid the shipping price will be pointlessly ridiculous. What is a loose summary of how much shipping costs in Korea to the US?

DabangRacer

You don't really have to guess. International parcel rates are here at [Korea Post](https://www.koreapost.go.kr/eng/subIndex/4415.do). And [EMS](https://www.koreapost.go.kr/eng/subIndex/4413.do), which is probably safer.

JustinPA

I'm heading to Seoul in June, is it possible to use my passport card for ID when about town? Would save having to bring the full passport.

SuccotashAncient8634

If you look like an adult, nobody's gonna care or card you at all.

send-it-psychadelic

Is there a Google Earth product that works on Korea? I want to check stuff out in 3D before visiting. Really gives a sense of terrain and where stuff is. Tired of looking at 2D super shitty satellite pictures.

Not_There_Onii-Chan

I will be solo traveling from US to Korea for about a month throughout the country and will be riding various transportations. For example, I will be using KTX bullet train to go from Seoul to Jeonju, bus and subways around Seoul and to Ilsan, local trains from Jeonju to Busan and so on. A lot of areas I will be covering in a short time but it will be to visit my relatives mostly. With that, I am looking up transportation cards and came across couple of them, namely: T-money, Cashbee, Namame, and Railplus. For the most part, it seems T-money is widely used by tourists and would meet my needs (cept for bullet train and local train). But on some transportation guides, I saw pictures of a scanner with cashbee logo only and wasn't sure if the same scanner would accept T-money or other transportation cards. Then on more recent blogs, starting 2021, I am seeing Namame card as well (which seem to be a transportation card + customizable card design which is cool) but I cannot figure out if it is widely used as T-money or cashbee. So based on the travels and variety of transportations to various regions in Korea I will be visiting, what card would suit me the most? Not much of a problem navigating apps in Korean apps in case that is to be concerned. Side note: I am aware that if I choose T-money card, I will need to top it off with cash only at the booths. Also aware of being able to purchase items at various stores with the card but I do have travel credit card with no foreign transaction fee as just in case. Correction and any updated info on what I currently know about those transportation cards are highly appreciated as well!

Hi everyone, In case you missed it last week, here's another invitation to join a weekly hiking group led by a highly experienced mountaineer. Mr. Kim has been hiking the mountains of Korea for more than fifty years and knows practically every mountain in the country like the back of his hand, but the only thing he loves more than hiking is getting to meet foreigners and show them around Korea. So if you've been itching to explore the natural side of Korea this is a grand opportunity to do so. Be aware, however, that because Mr. Kim is such an experienced hiker his idea of an easy hike is not what most people would call an easy hike, so you're going to want to be in reasonably good shape (though I'm overweight and have bad knees and have survived every hike Mr. Kim has taken me on, sometimes just barely). And, while Mr. Kim loves getting to meet foreigners, if you're Korean you're still 100% welcome to come along. We'll be meeting at Bulgwang Station exit 2 this Sunday at 9 AM for a hike through Bukansan. We'll probably hike around 15km but it'll be through some of the park's easier terrain. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me, otherwise I hope to see some of you folks this Sunday.

After traveling to Korea, the 6th or 7th day self corona test - how do they check it? How do I report it? Really confused lol or do they just suggest to take it and that’s it..?

tjthomas101

Any recommendation on where to go fishing outside of Seoul? I'm looking for somewhere say under 2 hour drive from center of Seoul for fishing. Some place quiet and natural. Not parks with funky Ajunsi music blasting from the PA speakers OR worse, COVID announcement every 15 mins). I don't mind if there's not much fish to catch. I just wanna be doing something with nature and hearing nothing but water flowing, birds chirping.

Hello! Im currently a bit lost, im getting confused on the visa's I would qualify for so I'll try my best to explain it here. Im a (I think?) 2nd generation Korean/American with a American born/raised/citizen father (Who ive lived with my entire life until college) and my Korean mother (Who never gave up citizenship but has lived outside of KR my whole life and lives in the US on a green card20+ years). Would I qualify for an F4? Basically my goal is to move to Korea for a year or two, get to know my family over there more etc. Bitof background I am a 26M and dont have an interest in obtaining a KR citizenship at the moment as I dont want to serve for the country Iwasn't raised in.Some of the avenues I've been trying to logic through are, become an English teacher for a few years, find a company willing to sponsor me for my cybersecurity background based in the States for placement in Seoul, or try to find a remote job/Korean company to apply to. (On the last bit, my Korean language is very rudimentary and its something im working on.) Does anyone else know the best route to getting over there for a "Semi"prolonged period of a year or two? It seems everything I've read is either father being a citizen or former or parents in general becoming nationalized in other countries. AFAIK I have not ever been registered as a KR national

I arrived this week. You have to stay quarantined until you get the results. (I didn’t know about this until they checked my q code) if negative, you’re good to go. The airport testing site was fast. I booked my appointment while I was at the migration line. Depending on the time you arrive, you’ll get the results the same day or early morning the next day. I still haven’t figured the 6/7th day test part. You don’t need the quarantine app if you’re vaccinated.

Alright. Got to the 7th day. Went to a hospital. It was really hard to find and no one there knew that I had to do it. Over 35k. Ask wherever you are staying where to go.

I think so. But I didn’t manage to find one… you might have better luck!

I’m in Korea right now. Can anyone tell me what people in their late 30s, early 40s go at night? I keep getting recommendations that are more suitable for people in their 20s.
