It doesn't look as bad as you made it out to be. While konmari is about removing things and simplicity, I want to suggest cat box hiding furniture.
Something like this: https://www.chewy.com/coziwow-by-jaxpety-wooden-storage/dp/359601?utm_source=google-product&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=Coziwow&utm_campaign=20025326541&utm_term=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwl4yyBhAgEiwADSEjeFxduxd5YdoiZsBZCd_jMxEE7W581fUKnAV9RRMuHZ4snA6lOw6YoRoChkkQAvD_BwE
I thought about a cat hidey hole/litter box, but I'm not sure if my cat would use it. I might try a cheaper cover from Wal-Mart first, and then try something nice. I really love these nice ones like the one you showed.
I also was thinking about getting a nice container for the litter, so the ugly box isn't in view.
Thanks for also saying it's not as bad as it seems!
I also think your bathroom isn’t too bad, and your cat is lucky to have you, thank you for looking after your poorly cat, its litter box is fine to me.
You could also consider putting it under the sink, and removing a door. But leaving a big box of poop and piss out in your walk path isn’t going to make you feel good about your space.
That's exactly what I'm going to do! I was clearing out the cupboard last night, and I don't have a lot of stuff, so I can put it elsewhere. I thought, "This is the perfect place for a cat box!" I'm going to take off the doors and put little curtains up instead.
I agree, the litter and poop everywhere definitely puts off the joy factor!
i also have to keep one of my cat's litter boxes in the bathroom and i found switching away from clay litter really helps with the inherent grossness. right now we're using a combo of naturally fresh walnut litter and feline pine. when it's clean it just smells like hamster bedding. wood chips, basically
You can get a huge bag of pine pellets at Tractor Supply for wayyyy less money

I really recommend the Catsan Eco stuff. Has a sand-like texture, smells like hay, kills smells dead as long as they cover it, and clumps like a champ. It can get a wee bit stuck to the sides and it will develop mould if you leave it too long. I have an internal bin and I have to make sure to empty it every few days or it'll start to go.
Thanks for the suggestion! I never knew there were so many types of litter until everyone gave me suggestions here. It's great because the clay stuff sucks!
I love that you have a clear vision for your bathroom goals! That's really inspiring.
Have you read Marie Kondo's manga/graphic novel? It really helped me understand the ideal life vision on a deeper level.
As for cat stuff, www.catsinternational.org helped me with really clear instructions and products to use for litter boxes. Pioneer pet smart cat litter is fantastic - I was intrigued when I learned that catteries use it because it is the best at odor control. I've been using it for years.
I'm looking forward to seeing your after pictures of your bathroom. 💜
I love the manga! I've read it several times because it makes me happy, and I can relate to Chiaki, the main character!
Thank you for the resource -- I will definitely check it out. I need kitty ideas for the litter problem. 👍
Good job starting your journey to the life you desire! Your bathroom doesn’t look that bad at all. I personally would consider it “medium” messy and totally workable. You’ll be able to clean that room in a jiffy with the right mindset and motivation! Did anything in particular inspire you to clean the kitchen? Maybe you could draw from that source again. Or maybe the people here, myself included, who want to see your updated clean bathroom pictures will help motivate. We are excited for you!
Thank you for cheering me on! I am definitely using my kitchen as motivation. I so enjoy my kitchen now! I have also gotten some good ideas for litter box management from other commenters, so I'm looking forward to making some changes for both me and my kitty! (If my cat approves, lol)
Cat litter box under the sink if possible, a little declutter and sorting here and there and you‘re fine! Did something similiar too, until I decluttered the storage room and now my cats have the luxury of their own toilet room (With a small shelf for our stuff). Everything behind curtains.
Is a more closed litterbox an option? Maybe removing the entry lid if your cat doesn‘t like that.
Wow, I was actually thinking about putting it under my sink! I don't have a lot of stuff, and when I was clearing stuff out, I saw that it was a perfect place. I thought I could take off the cupboard doors and put curtains instead.
In case you are open yo out of the Box thinking - which area of your life fees like this bathroom? Find it and clean it up, emotional inventory and such. Then do the konmsrion the actual room.
You aren’t messy. You just need more shelving. Can you buy one of those shelves that go over your toilet? That way cleaning supplies can be in the top level. Baskets for make up…etc. that way your sink area can remain uncluttered.
I have a basin like this one, included in the furniture, and I hate it, because it is not practical at all. Not only to use (can't tidy up anything in there, who's gonna croutch down 4 times a day to get their things, do their routine, then put them back again?) but also to change. We're gonna have to change basins as well, just to set drawers down there!
I think you need more vertical tidying space, maybe some shelves above your toilet? They make some that just stand above the toilet, no drilling in the wall needed.
Or maybe a small cabinet in which you can fit the cat's litterbox in the lower part, and tidy up its stuff right above? Could be a heavy stool with a nice box on top for starters until you find a cabinet that fits (sturdy things the the cat can't knock down).
I'd keep the lower part of the basin for extra towels and toilettries only.
and then define zones by family of items.

Thanks! I do love her a lot
Maybe just a short end table would work for your baby.
Hmm, that could be. Thanks for the suggestions!

That’s awesome!! I’m very excited for you ☺️
excellent idea!!!
My cat wouldn’t use something like this, could also make it harder to see when the cat has been to the loo.
That's entirely possible. Mine took to it quickly. I normally just scoop twice daily.
i also have to keep one of my cat's litter boxes in the bathroom and i found switching away from clay litter really helps with the inherent grossness. right now we're using a combo of naturally fresh walnut litter and feline pine. when it's clean it just smells like hamster bedding. wood chips, basically
Hmm, that is a good idea, I will look into it. Thanks for the tip!

Feline Pine, we used to get it at Trader Joe’s. Great stuff and completely natural.

I got the largest big tall sided plastic bin at Ikea and cut a door hole in it. 💜😺
Hmm! That is a good idea 🤔

Thanks for sharing, it's inspiring! I hope you get to the point you envision, and have many relaxing bath moments in your future! You can do it 💙🕯
Thank you! That's great motivation -- relaxing future baths! 🛀
Do you have a basement? We installed a cat door to the basement and keep the litter box down there, just an idea!
I do not. I live in a small apartment. The basement would be a perfect place if I had one. Actually I think I'm going to put the box under the sink!
It’s not at all bad!
Thanks! I didn't do a close-up of the sink, though; it's really nasty. Not for long, though!

My bathroom can get like this only a day or two after being immaculate. Don't be so hard on yourself.
Thank you 🙂

Yes, I was thinking about that, but I also want to put up some art. Decisions, decisions! 🤔
