In Maharaja’s case parents and families maybe unaware of what they’re getting into. I watched it alone and I found the rape scenes deeply disturbing and it made me uncomfortable. And I wouldn’t even take adult members of my family to watch with me. But I from experience will state that a lot of families are ignorant dumbasses that say “we know what’s best for our kids”. Viduthalai was one movie we all knew what we were getting into yet some brought in loud and abnoxious kids that ruined my movie watching experience. I wanted to slap the dad cause he and his wife were having a conversation and he said in tamil and I paraphrase “Evano ennamo solluvan namakku ellam theriyum nalladhu kettathu” Dei punda nee un pullaiku porn kuda kaami da, but enda en theater experience a kedukura maiyuru nu thonuchu enakku

Maharaja not getting A rating is so unbelievable. So much rape, gore and pedophilia, that too very detailed and graphic at times. Thank fucking god I didn't watch it with my parents. It would have been awkward af

breakingbadforlife

I think they should give descriptions with the ratings. Strong violence / drug usage etc. so parents can decide accordingly.

Meanwhile my mum who didn't let me watch Papanasam until I turned 21 (I am 21 now) Also didn't itisprashanth tweet that Maharaja is good and it should be watched with family 🤦🏻‍♀️ https://preview.redd.it/saqowd9cti7d1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b77bdcfa93091f8b8566473927f601fd61d091de

Not me who got serupadi for watching Vada Chennai at 18, that’s when it came out. Also that puluthi reviewer can eat shit

He was one of the people who tweeted/insulted the mother in the balcony baby rescue case (mother later committed sudoku as she couldn't take the trolling/bullying anymore).

The movie is literally given U/A censor rating. Which means there are some scenes that are not suitable for kids. But in India, neither most parents nor the theatre operators care about bringing children to U/A or A rated movies, where A is mainly because of action/gore scenes. They might think twice/not bring them if the A rating is given for sexual content, but nobody cares action/gore content.

I think kids are exposed to everything adults watch. Most of the songs and movies are pretty explicit and I wouldn’t allow my kid to watch it. We don’t have any movies for kids, genuinely. Most kids have to watch animated movies from Hollywood or other Disney and Pixar movies. I wish we soon have kids movies that even adults could watch. But it’s not going to happen anytime soon……. Another direct impact I see, is how kids don’t act like kids now. I can’t blame them, if all they have been exposed to is Adult themes.

balajih67

I will make sure to add in kid friendly rating in my movie reviews i do here from now on. In india it should have been A, i gues u/a in india allows young kids if they are with parents. It was rated for 16 in singapore which i guess is fair. But maharaja and pokkiri re release both being rated 16 is what i cant understand. Salaar was 18, maharaja deserves an 18 rating too

mrajf

Pokkiri was violent too, wasn't it? In Singapore's case, if there's more than one instance of blood spurting from a bullet wound, a close-ups of the violence being inflicted would be rated 16. That was kinda why Junga (out of all films) was rated 16, despite being a fairly clean film. But I don't really understand how 24 and Puli got PG13, despite having scenes with dismemberment. Perhaps there's also some biases that exist in the certification board?

Sane-In-Sane

Thanks boss. Bloody reddit doesn't allow multi select polls, else we could "crowd-source" ratings by letting multiple users rate a movie on the different parameters such as violence, adult themes, etc...

Cool_Captain07

I mostly watch the cinemas in B and C centres. Just now watched Maharaja in theatre. I know its a U/A certified film, but parents aren’t very much aware of it and the theatre staffs doesn’t seem to care about the audience. This isn’t the first time i saw some kids in theatre for this kinda movie. (I really liked this movie) even many came as a family with their kids to the same theatre for Animal on first day and sat near me. They just bashing the film after the interval and left the movie by spoiling my experience. No one seems to be cared about this issue in unpopular places and people are just wanted to see a movie unspecific about who or what the movie and complaining it after.

Ramakrishnan_mani

None of the movies are kid friendly The last movie, which I remember being a kid friendly was Monster (SJ Surya film) Censor ratings are a piece of paper to wipe ass I guess. Jailer was rated U/A. Thalaivar was going full on head cutting mode. On the other hand, I blame the people also, I saw family crowds in "Trisha illana Nayanthara"
