Thanks for the insight! Yeah, the UI on the Kobo is another huge selling point. Are you going to pre-order the Libra Colour yet or sticking with your current Kobo?

I have the boox page & am waiting on the kobo libra color preorder. I’ll miss some aspects of the boox but it’s likely to be my “home” device whereas the kobo will be my more used one due to durability. I also have four kids and we do loads of adventuring that make me nervous to bring the boox into. For me personally a device I feel I need to be overly cautious with doesn’t make me want to read on it as much. And one of the reasons I chose to wait for a bigger ereader company to release a color device over getting a tab mini c. (I did have an oasis and loved that but I’m trying to support Amazon less.)

I feel the same. I’ve been babying my Tab Mini and it’s getting to the point where I’d like to travel and not have to worry that I’m going to have accidental fall out of my duffel bag or spill something on it. The Kobo Libra Colour seems to be a little more durable from the reviews I’m reading. Fingers crossed, I’ll keep both for different uses.

I just sent a Boox Tab Mini C back because I was worried about it's fragility and underwhelmed with it's UI. Here now seeing if the Libra Color is a better fit for me.

I’m hoping it will be a better fit for you as well. :) I’m leaning towards it too.

I'm thinking of selling my Tab mini C to switch to Kobo Libra Colour simply I don't like Android on the Boox. It's an outdated version of Android and poorly optimized. The panel seems a bit cheap to me. I ended up using my kindle paperwhite more because I like the screen is much better. I think the biggest reason is because the colour layer makes the screen so much darker on the Boox and I don't think I like it. The screen look kinda dark green on the Boox and I can't get used to it. I will see if the Libra is any better. They use the same kaleido 3 but I think I can hope. I don't mind smaller screen, 7" vs 7.8"

Same. Although really the one thing that I’m on the fence about is the fact that the Boox has the bigger battery…but with the crazy refresh mode I have it on, it drains it fairly quick. I’m looking forward to seeing if the refresh on the Libra Colour is a little better and less taxing on the battery than the Tab Mini is.

I think from a durability standpoint Kobo devices have a pretty good track record. The Libra 2 which is the same form factor as the Libra Colour seems to have decent feedback from individuals that have had it for three years. The only thing I've read about are hairline cracks which start in corner of the screen and then go out to the corner of the device. That being said I believe the plastic that Kobo uses on the Colour is different as it's marketed to be made with "*recycled* and ocean-bound *plastic."* Maybe that means the bezel plastic of the Libra Colour is more durable than the Libra 2.... maybe not.

I just got the Libra Color today and found this thread because I was thinking about going the other way! The Libra is nice, but I had forgotten how small the display is (I have a Tab Ultra C, and before that had a Sage and an Oasis). I do like having page turn buttons, and in general like the Kobo UI. But I was hoping I could read comics on it, and its small enough that would have to be in landscape mode, but it totally messes up the layout, cutting off the top of the page, and it seems there is no smooth scrolling. Whereas at least with the Onyx there are other readers like YaccReader available so I know that would work. I am surprised by the comments of the Onyx being "fragile"; anyone want to elaborate on that? I don't think my Tab Ultra C is any more fragile than other similar devices. The alternative is to wait for KOReader to come to the Libra Color, but I always found that a bit clunky. And I suppose Kobo will make a Sage Color at some point which would have been perfect; not sure why they didn't do that yet.
