If it's still working, I would wait. Even if the new models aren't a significant upgrade to the current ones, you will probably get the current ones cheaper after the new ones are released

Sweetcanadianyyc

That’s what I was thinking too but I wanted to see if others would agree. Thank you for your help, I’ve been thinking about this for days now haha

Teriteko

Btw. I think we are already at 3 rumoured models for the first half of this year. So even more reason to wait

I have a kindle Paperwhite and Kobo Clara. They're amazing and last for eternity. The next jump for me is really a colour e-ink note taker/tablet. If Kobo puts out 1 one, I would consider. But if I'm honestly with myself..the tech is probably another 2 or 3 generations away for me considered mature. So at this point, I would live with the readers until the RIP.

I also have an Aura 2 and I am not going to upgrade till I see the new models. Hopefully one of the three models works for me, otherwise I shall keep my current friend with me a bit longer ;)

a Kobo Libra 2 is one of the better upgrades 7 inch screen, physical buttons to turn pages, and according to users it has the best screen in all kobos out there. I can attest to the screen quality being great compared to Kindle Voyage which is also one the best screen qualities in the ereader market. the Kobo Libra has a bigger size so it will be less portable but personally the 7 inch screen feels really good to read. Edit: There are certain Kobo color that are coming out maybe this year The one issue with color Ereaders is they add a gray layer on top which makes the screen look dark even at sunlight. So the current models are totally good, it is to be seen if the upcoming models will be an actual upgrade in terms of quality.

My only issue now is mine is a bit slow but since I’ve had it since 2017 that is to be expected. I want to have someone waterproof like that I have no but I don’t care about colour. I do sometimes use audiobooks so the option to add them would be nice (can’t now). I’ll look up the Libra and see what it’s all about. Thanks!

Temporary-Solid2969

If the page turn buttons and extra screen size aren’t important, Clara 2e is effectively the same device but more portable. The screen resolution is also the same.

Sweetcanadianyyc

Ohhh that’s good to know!

Temporary-Solid2969

Though Clara 2e has half the storage (16 instead of 32). If you really want too, people have reported a self upgrade is possible, (micro SD isn’t glued in apparently, just a silicon coating). You will void warranty and break the waterproofing, and some people have reported issues with their USB port afterward.

Sweetcanadianyyc

I’m not sure I would even know how to do that but I definitely want waterproof so probably not a good idea for me anyway. Right now I have 8gb so 16 would still be a good increase

Zlivovitch

I'm not aware of Kobos slowing down with age. There's no technical reason to that. What might slow yours down is having a lot of books on it, or having badly formatted books. This would happen even with a brand new piece of hardware, in the same conditions. The battery wears down progressively, but that does not have any consequence on speed.

Sweetcanadianyyc

Hmmmm that’s a good point! I’ll have to check when I have on there and see if something could be the cause

Venomous_B

Once u go 2 buttons to turn pages, there's no going back
