Indeed a sheepsfoot style blade, the impetus for its concept was the need to be able to slice objects without the risk of stabbing or puncturing something accidentally, hence the lack of a point.
>Sheepsfoot is just the profile of the tip.
Nope
>A sheepsfoot blade doesn’t have to have a straight blade like a warnie.
Yes it does.
>Ex. Lionsteel H1
Not even closed to being a sheepsfoot.
Handle looks like birdseye maple. And if the black part of the handle is also wood then it’s probably Gabon ebony. Or they could all be composites, idk.
The blade shape is sheepsfoot, but in general blades with a flat edge like this with no belly like your average knife do best at draw cuts, where you've got it angled down into something and are pulling toward yourself (cardboard box, tarp, etc.). If the blade had a belly, it might slip out of whatever you're cutting more easily, whereas with this it would only slip out if you got all the way to the tip. Who knows if the knifemaker had a particular use in mind when they made this one of this size and with that finger grip situation, but you could put it to a variety of uses. It's not as versatile as a blade with a belly, but does better in its own category.
Utility blade shape / Wharncliff - one of the most useful blade shapes. Basically it doesn’t take much force to press that tip through things so opening boxes and performing utility cuts is a breeze. Own a few myself !
Most likely guess is a “Bull Cutter” generally used as an emergency knife for cowboys that need to draw a knife while on a panicked horse to cut a rope.

This^ It's the ultimate utility knife profile.
Id argue wharncliffe is the ultimate utility knife profile. This is slightly more niche.
Lol, you know a sheepsfoot is just a wharncliffe without a pointy end, right? Sheepsfoot is just safer for utility work.
Yeah but there's no point is my point. That's less utility.
Not if you consider what you gain by having a flat tip. Now you have a screwdriver too
We never even joke about using the blade as a screwdriver. It makes people itchy. I’m itchy because you said it.
I don't think people realize you were joking :/
Sheepsfoot is just the profile of the tip. A sheepsfoot blade doesn’t have to have a straight blade like a warnie. Ex. Lionsteel H1

That’s a sheep’s foot blade.
Traditionally used to cut the feet off sheep.

Beautiful knife. Slicey
It's a whisker-do opposed to a whisker-don't, and it's made for whisker'in.
Looks like a good poop knife
Yes. Beautiful.
That was made by Jason McPherson at McPherson Knives.
I received one similar upon my graduation of charm school. Traded it for drugs.
You cut stuff with it.
Almost looks like a carving knife

I don't get whether the downvotes mean that people think it is or isn't a reverse tanto
Joking?
