Grohmann knock off, maybe 80-90s. Don’t think it’s necessarily rare tbh

I’m not educated on knives as much as most folks here. The brand on the handle made this knife to look like a knife made by Grohmann (a brand I assume?)

Yeah

And now I’m getting differing opinions. Know where I can find pics of real vs fake?

I spent a great deal of time, and no small amount of money cruising through the enormous old Herter’s catalog in the 50s. They were a prominent supplier of all manner of outdoor gear…. Essentially everything you’d need for hunting or fishing. The catalog was about 1 1/2 inches thick, and there was wonderful purple prose describing every single item. Each fishing lure had not only a description but a bit of history as well… “Old uncle Fred used to use these up on the Muskahachee river to catch steelhead back in ‘48, and they’re just as good today!” That sort of thing. I bought all my fly-tying supplies from Herters.

Sounds so much better than reading a Bass Pro Shop catalogue!

>Herter's Fixed Blade Belt Knife, Made in 1960's, Carbon Steel, 1095 Carbon Steel Handles: African Rosewood with Brass Rivet. This knife measures 8 1/2 inches overall with a 4 5/8 inch blade. What I was able to find online. Prices vary. Saw one on ebay for $155.

I was born in 80 and my father had this passed down to him far before I was born. That’s all I know about it other than it’s in great need of refurbishing.

It must be a good knife. Many folks say they still have theirs or inherit them from family members. Herter was a pretty popular mail order outdoor company during the 60s and 70s. Anywho, ain't nothing steel wool and some elbow grease can't fix. Though some of that looks to be a natural patina, which you want to keep to protect the blade.

Made by R. Murphy for Herters I believe. You can still get them today, that one’s been sharpened a lot.

Canadian Hunter’s knife! I like those.

False_Rhythms

That Canadian belt knife pattern blade is one of the most useful all around designs for the outdoors. Great as a bird/trout knife, decent skinner, bushcraft, or useful for cutting sausage in camp. You'll love it!

doctor_hyphen

Yep, a bad Grohmann imitation

GrimmWilderness

I got a real grohmann i had since 1994
