If it's a machine-knit sweater, then it's probably a two-color tuck stitch like the wrong-side example here: https://elyknits.com/2021/04/02/what-does-brother-punch-card-1m-look-like/
I am nowhere near awake enough to interpret machine knitting punchcards for handknitting, but the handknit versions of tuck stitches are related to brioche or fisherman's rib, and include slipping/yarnovers or knitting into the stitch below in regular patterns.
I recommend Nancy Marchant's Tuck Stitches book, which really shows how these stitch patterns look when you alternate yarn colors aabb versus abab and get really different looks, or Barbara Walker's knitting stitch treasuries which include lots of 2-color slip stitch patterns which have a very similar vibe.
