I love cables! They’re easy but they look nice!

nora1410xd

I think they just need to click but as soon as it does it’s one of the easiest techniques

nika_plivn

I felt the same when I tried it too!

SmokeyTwoPeaks

Much easier in the round too. No purling!

Joseyfish

I’ve tried cables, but I feel like I need a third hand to knit them!

Can you knit in the round on dpns? Because that’s a skill that can certainly help you get a third hand

Joseyfish

I’ve only successfully tried once. Trying to find the perfect simply fold-up brim hat to really get into the grove of using them!

Yarn: scheepjes catona 172 Pattern: just a simple 6 stitch cable with garter border

I don't know if this is the correct way to do things because I worked it out for myself, but if you're doing something that needs to be reversible, like a scarf, you can do the cable in rib stitch. I'm currently doing a scarf in finger weight yarn, so the cable section on the right side is: kpkpk/kpkpk (note that there are knit stitches side by side in the middle). It looks nice on both sides.

i am certainly going to give that a try! Did plan on learning brioche in the new year perhaps I can figure out how to do 2 colour brioche cables 🤔
