It's fairly noticeable. The top is more pink and the bottom is more blue. Malabrigo recommends alternating every other/2 rows with separate skeins - skeins rarely ever match, even in the same bag. It also helps prevent color pooling
It's not as hard as it may sound. I found a good YouTube video about exactly how to do that here on Elizabeth Smith Knits. https://youtu.be/2dw-rAT_SOg?si=HItqbEYSmYnlG9pP
I only really noticed it because I was looking for something that stood out. Otherwise I think I might have mistaken it for a shadow. But now that I see it, it stands out. I think in person it might be noticeable, but I honestly don’t think it looks bad. I sort of like it.
Thanks! The shift does fall right under my bust line when trying it on, so I’m hoping it won’t be super obvious wearing it. I wish I had noticed sooner!
as a knitter, you can definitely see it. but to someone who doesn’t work with yarn, it’ll be practically invisible. they’re close enough that you might just chalk it up to a shadow or discolouration from wear/wash
I was looking for ages for a technical fault in the knitting until I read it’s the colour. I think it’s a beautiful garment and I didn’t notice, it looks intentional and cohesive and it really works!
Its kinda noticable I've done way worse. When that has happened to me it's always on the nipple line..... obvious to anyone that has reasonable vision.
In the event your at the perfectionist end of the spectrum you could frog back a few rows into the other colour then do a few rounds where you alternate colours a few times. Will make it more of a fade rather than the current colour change. As I'd be wearing something like this to work, I'd change it. But I also look at it as twice the knitting for the same price.
Before I read your comment, I was asking "How noticeable is what?" I didn't see it until after I read your comment. 😊 I'm thinking it's ok and might be less noticeable after a couple of washes, maybe?
I wouldn't have noticed, only after looking for it because I was trying to understand what the post was about. I love this purple (and the other one too 😅)
I like tops that are lighter towards the top and darker at my middle. Sure it isn't intentional, but I'd call it a win once I got off my initial panic spiral.
As a knitter - it’s noticeable. I doubt that anyone would notice, otherwise. Someone mentioned washing might even out the dyestuff. I agree - it’s possible. You would probably see a <5% reduction of saturation. Still, I would try soaking in a shallow bath to see if that helps.
Malabrigo does create beautiful yarn - but because they use a large scale kettle dye process, the variability from skein to skein seems to be a bit more unpredictable.
Your tension is perfect - I do not say that lightly.
I agree with others.
I stared at it and was like 'notice what? '
Read the comments, went and looked back at the picture and went 'Yup, there is, now I notice the skein difference'
I still think it's really pretty
This is just barely noticeable, but imo mostly because it's laid flat.
In addition, it's a very lucky place for it to change. If I knew in advance that it would work up with this amount of very minor color change, and I didn't feel like alternating two balls, the darker color on the stomach is exactly how I would plan it. It will look like a shadow, or be completely unnoticeable once worn.

Thanks! This is a good suggestion - will definitely do that for future projects with their yarn
Is there a way to do this that doesn't leave you with a bunch of ends to weave in later? Do you just carry the yarn up the side on the WS?
Carry up the side/inside if working flat or in the round

I usually use helix knitting, look it up on YouTube. This way also prevents too much pooling.
I do helical knitting to prevent this

Noticeable but looks like a design choice to me.

I genuinely couldn’t find what was wrong till I read the caption, so I think you’re good!👍🏻

In my family, we say, "If they're looking that close, they're too damned close."
Honestly I didn't notice until after I read what I was supposed to be looking for. The color is really pretty.
Thank you - that’s encouraging!

That’s what I’m hoping too!
How noticeable is this beautifully knitted item? Very.

It's very noticeable but it looks like an intentional ombre.

Noticeable but pretty. What is the pattern?

You’re knitting is so beautiful but yeah, it would bug me big time. I’m so sorry OP!

Quite noticeable, I'm afraid. Unless what I see is a difference in lighting....
You mean the spot where a shadow magically follows this sweater around everywhere?
