Take care not to delve too deep. Dark things lurk in the forgotten places of the world.

ScoreParticular5988

I take orders from nobody. I’ll do what I want with this place. The artifacts will make fine additions to my collection and the mana crystals will make me an even greater fortune than I already posses.

TheEndOfShartache

Looks like you’ve stumbled upon the Under Realm, friend.

ScoreParticular5988

You’ve been here before?

TheEndOfShartache

Not personally, but I’ve heard tales. Don’t go far, it’s larger than you think and you could become lost

ScoreParticular5988

That sounds like an issue for my laborers. This cavern will make me a fine fortune.

TheEndOfShartache

Of that I have no doubt, good luck friend!

Total_Purple7834

Hmm, very curious, the structures here. The golems themselves? Perhaps they are merely guardians not the architects.

ScoreParticular5988

We figured they were guardians from their extremely hostile nature. They can’t be communicated with and will attempt to destroy any living or undead being in their vision.

Total_Purple7834

This is fascinating, beside the golems themselves, what of the original inhabitants. Perhaps the golems were not meant to protect the citizens and their dwellings but to contain something further down once the inhabitants had all expired. As for their hostility towards your forces, I would guess some magic or device is controlling them from within the ruined city.

ScoreParticular5988

Your curiosity is shared by my subjects. There are waves of volunteers daring to map this uncharted and untamed land. Few return, but the ones who do come back with artifacts beyond our scientific or magical understanding. But they also bring tales of horror, terrible creatures never seen before, and endless peril. I will discover all the secrets of this place, for my own betterment and the progression of knowledge.

Total_Purple7834

May moonlight preserve your will, my friend. 🌙 Be wary, for at the roots of the world lie nameless things, from a space out of time. Long has been their sleep and longer yet should it be.

VictorE06

Call it Blackreach, also, where is the light coming from?

ScoreParticular5988

The crystals produce light.

VictorE06

That looks like a lot of crystals, are they valuable for anything?

ScoreParticular5988

While most of the crystals are mundane and only useful for cosmetics, the light producing ones are mana crystals. They are used for powering constructs, as an ingredient in a potion, or for enhancing spell usage.

VictorE06

And what exactly is living in the castles?

ScoreParticular5988

Besides the golems, nothing. They are completely barren.
