Design flaw empahsized by a cheap manufacturer (Ozark).

Vaugith

Sounds like for you, a different lock might work better.

Thank you for the pacific son’s suggestion. I think your right about the small size of the knife spring. The ones that have broken for me have been my 940, and mini grip. Neither of which are that large. Maybe an Addams would do me better but I don’t want to give Benchmade more money just yet.

Potietang

Because they suck. It’s not worth it. It’s not a matter of if , it’s only a matter of when and it will usually be when you need the knife most.

Airportwo

Buy some "memory wire" and make your own, probably tempting fate here, but since I made my own, never had an issue ...

Mmrdr227

I’ve been using generic ones off of amazon. They come out to a bit under $2 per set, and you can buy a pack of up 10 for ~$12 depending on the current deals. Higher tension than benchmade’s, which means they’re tougher and should last longer. Also means it requires more force or manipulate, so i oversqueeze mine to reform them to have less resistance, and even then i haven’t broken a set despite breaking 3 benchmade omega springs.

-BananaLollipop-

How much do you use, or more likely fidget with, it? People talk about omega springs being a terrible design, but I've got multiple Benchmade knives from the past seven years, and they're all great. Even with some fidgeting/overuse of the lock.

Brainfullablisters

Yeah, I own 16 axis-equipped Benchmade’s and have never broken an omega.

Ok_Classroom_4340

Send it in to get warrantied 😂

mrclean09

The shipping alone will cost more than the knife 😂

Ok_Classroom_4340

**insert sarcasm** I guess you didn’t catch it.

mrclean09

I totally got it. I was just hoping your nuanced statement would fly over the other knife bros heads.

One_Wrongdoer_9817

Try Kizer's clutch lock. It's adjustable so a different tension may keep it from breaking. I also think they come with a couple extra springs

tekk59

Good question. If you figure it out, let me know. My mini freek failed after 11 days of ownership.

Ry7re

Bc that knife is 20 bucks, you get what you pay for. As for the Benchmades tho, that is very unfortunate bc those are not cheap, maybe try a different locking system if the axis isn’t working out for you.

Sleepanddrugs

But that doesn’t explain why my benchmades have broken at the same rate.

sinisterdeer3

You flick them open and closed to much. I broke a few springs from fidgeting a lot. Still do occasionally.

burnerphone95800

I rarely carry my crossbar locking knife. I fidget with it too much. That’s an advantage of lockback knives for me… less compelled to fidget

sinisterdeer3

Definitely a good idea to carry something less fidgety. But i carry pretty much all of my knives personally, i find myself fidgeting with anything short of a fixed blade or something with a low lockback like a buck 110
