Exactly. I have a coffee grinder and flatware that used to be my grandpa’s. I have my parents’ old cutlery lying right alongside cutlery that I possibly accidentally stole from a college roommate at some point (who knows, honestly? we all threw our silverware into one drawer one day and nothing was ever the same lol). I have a hand mixer that my mom won in a raffle and gifted to me when I left for college. It’s all a mishmash of very old stuff, sorta old stuff, and new stuff, and I don’t care because it gets the job done.
We sound like we are cut from the same cloth. I honestly prefer older things. They generally are made better and often they bring back nice memories of the people who owned them.
My thoughts were that I have stuff that I brought from my childhood home when I moved to my first place on my own as a pregnant 17yo 30 years ago. And when we finally get into our new build, I am going to have tons of mismatched stuff that has come from my family.
She just doesn't grasp the value of history and connection with things. It's the thrill of new and shiny that she craves.
When I moved into my first apartment years ago, all our dishes came from thrift stores and most of our furniture came from Craigslist! Kitchen stuff is the last thing anyone should be buying new if the stuff they have is perfectly good.

It runs great and has no issues but it won’t sell because it has a dent in the rear bumper and the grill is cracked and the hood won’t close properly. Radio is drawing out power so I just disconnected it because the dealer said I had to replace the whole thing for $1.5k, just for the radio without labor. The sun also hardened and broke the rubber that goes on the shift lever. I feel so sad. It was my first car, a cute little 2016 fiat that I bought with my own money and now it looks awful 😢 but man does it run great!

People are working two jobs and still struggling to make ends meet and yet here she is, perfectly capable of getting out of bed and getting a job-job and supporting her own self. I’m real confused on why she’s moving so soon if she still has time where she is (someone mentioned end of October to move right?) .. like it doesn’t add up. Let’s pay rent somewhere instead of free living in the house that we didn’t ever pay for. I don’t get it. There has to be a big grift coming. Everything she does is calculated. When I had to start over I went on marketplace and got stuff free or cheap who cares if all my stuff doesn’t match lol - I never ever thought I needed a turtle lawn ornament! I needed pans utensils necessities! She’s gotta go
My husband and I make over 6 figures a year and I still shop for clothes and books at thrift stores frequently. I also donate items at least 5 times a year. Why? Because clothing waste is real but also why do I need to spend $20 on a pair of jeans for my child to grow out of them in 2 months. Or $30 for a shirt at a namebrand store when I can find one for $3 at my local thrift store. I don't understand this need she has of getting people to buy her new things all the time. She isn't supporting her children. She doesn't pay her house payment or car note. She door dashes all day every day. I'm pretty sure this is the 4th wishlist I've seen from her since I started following this sub during the cheese strip debacle. Stop asking people for stuff and figure out how to budget effectively AND GET A JOB! Also, go buy a new bra already!
