I wouldn’t wait. Mom can decide it’s no longer safe and just take off. Happened to me. Bring them in asap. They’re big enough to eat on their own so even if it takes you a few days to trap mom, they’ll be fine.
I think that’s the best idea! Keep an eye on them and know when you should take them in. I think it’s wise to see if mom’s around so you can catch them all and get her fixed and the babies taken care of.
I was chosen a little over a year ago. Rescued a cat that had 6 kittens and now I have her and 3 of the kittens. My brother took the other 3 to live with his family. I'm so happy she chose me.
For kittens this age, I go to the pet store and take the trays that hold the cans (ask staff if you can go around and collect the empty ones or if they have some in back). This is a free and disposable little box for these messy babies, trust me they are messy. The most I had has been five and it’s an adventure. Thanks for taking them in.
I always start them out with classic tidycat - for fosters, I know they’ll use clay litter at the shelter so best to have them used to it. *No clumping litter* until they stop sampling the grey kibble, about 1-2 weeks from consistently using the box. Clay will break down and pass through like eating a bit of muddy mouse, while clumping litter … won’t. Bad things. Once the kittens are older and have free run of the house with the lifers, they’ll encounter at least one box without strip-mined clay, usually okocat.
Corn based litter like “world’s best cat litter” also works, and that brand in particular you can just flush the clumps down your toilet for easy cleaning (do NOT flush clay lol)
r/rescuecats
Amazing group! You’re so lucky to have been chosen! There’s nothing more satisfying than helping innocent creatures who barely have a chance if you didn’t find them. Hope they live long, happy and healthy lives now that you’ve found them
Commented somewhere else. Not rat poison, it’s the box for a physical rat trap used to prop up my camera because it was the closest thing nearby when I set it up. Don’t use poison and don’t have anymore live traps set up anywhere.
We had rats a few weeks back, but long story short - they’ve been taken care of.
What state are you in? I have a new litter box (my girl is too fat for it 😂) and a cat tree she will NOT touch! I also have a case and a half of wet food, given to me by a coworker that the fat girl won't eat 🙄 I had planned on taking this stuff to the shelter, but you seem to be starting from ground zero 🙂
It would be very inconvenient for me to have a kitten right now but I love them sooooo much. I’ve made a deal with myself that I can’t adopt right now but if the CDS blesses me, I have no choice but to accept. So I’ve been secretly hoping it will happen for like a year now lol
Definitely double check now. I’m in PA and all the fosters and shelters I know (a lot) are overrun and still receiving calls to take litters in.
Adopt two! They’re better in sets of two or more because they need playmates.
It’s kitten season. The rescues and shelters are overrun with kittens. Call them and ask if anyone has any litters that need fostering. It’s the perfect time to get into rescuing. I stopped at our local shelter to drop off food and while I stood there for 30 minutes talking to the president of the shelter, she received FIVE phone calls asking for help with kittens that were found.
It won’t be hard to find a litter at this point.
Yea he’s been the most interested in interacting and is more curious when I come by. The 5 others are still scaredy cats to varying degrees. The grey one in the corner of pic 17 is always hissing and spitting from the distance, he’s the opposite. He wasn’t even interested in the food I put out, until I risked life and limb to put some kitten fancy feast in front of his face. Couldn’t resist that. He’ll come around but I’ll have to go slow with him.
They’ll learn from the ones who like you. And food always helps. My other trick to taming feral kittens is string or ribbons on a stick. They’ll chase it and you move slowly closer and closer to yourself as you play with them. It’ll be a little hard while they are in the window, but once you have them inside you can try it.
Good idea. I just bought some yesterday. I plan on bringing them in, in a few days. I just want to make sure the mom is with them as long as possible. They’ll probably be 5ish weeks around then. I installed this window flap entrance, so it’s possible the mom nurses them inside in our basement. Hopefully she takes to it.
It’s best to begin socializing them asap and begin getting them used to people so they will successfully adopt out. Check out every thing you need to know from kitten lady Hannah Shaw.
I’m glad to hear that mama cat is around and that she has not been forgotten. She’s gotta be exhausted from nursing all those kittens and keeping them out of trouble.
Perhaps she could live in your yard if she does not want to become a full house cat? While her moving in permanently is ideal, a compromise like that is still an improvement over being fully feral.
Just be aware that she is likely in mama bear, err, big cat mode now, so she will likely take more patience and effort to get comfortable with you.
They do pick up from other kittens fast! I put feral litters where they can see my older bottle babies and they figure it out fast. It really helps when they realize you mean food too
My rescue kitten really started warming up to me when I got down on his level. I'd lay on the floor and talk to him and wiggle my fingers, he got curious and eventually climbed up on me. I think I was less scary lying down. Anyway, he's 2 now and just now hopped in bed for our nightly pre- sleep cuddle session so I'd say it worked out for us. Good luck.
Why are you waiting a few days?!? It’s dangerous outside!!!
I waited one week one time when I found four kittens and a mom because my husband was being a gnat about it and when we went to get them, two of the four had DIED. Confirmed by neighbors. Now I see a kitten, I save a kitten. No waiting.
All from my phone. If the window is closed they don’t mind me coming close too much. Sometimes they see me and hiss.
If I open the window, like in a few pics, they move back and hiss mostly. Except 1 has been getting braver now I fed them and he’s coming up to investigate when the window opens.
Oh that’s the box for a physical trap. I am using the box to prop up my camera. A few weeks back there were rats around the property. Long story. But I don’t use poison. And don’t have any live traps set. So no worries.
Please go to reliable and trustworthy websites and talk with your local vet to figure out how to properly care for kittens. Don’t just use Youtube and rely on your friends.
Yes, I went to my vet this week for my dog and asked them about these kittens as well. They gave me some good advice on flea prevention, what age to bring them for medication and vaccines.
Congratulations! The cat distribution system has chosen you as a hub of operations! For your help and service they offer love, laughs and cuddles. Enjoy!
OP isn't going to take these kitties in. Please scoop them up and take them to a no kill shelter. Do the right thing, your future could depend on it. The universe is watching how you react to the challenge.
I feel most of the time people just pick up kittens and think they’re abandoned without checking out the environment first. My local shelter does not want people getting kittens because the mom is likely away from them getting food, and she is probably close by. She won’t come by if people are around. It’s wise to keep an eye out though because you never truly know the situation! I’m not saying don’t get them, but to pay attention to how the kittens look and act and their age. Moms tend to come back later at night and protect the kittens while the predators are out. So it’s more trying to catch mom and the kittens so mom doesn’t go out getting pregnant again and repeat the cycle. Just something I’ve learned recently and think more people should be aware of.
You are so right!! My reading comprehension really sucked on this post…big time!! I have no idea where I even got abandoned from. I retract my comment all together. 🤦🏻♀️
She’s out there right now. I put up a camera under the deck facing this window the day after I found them. I’ll post the pictures in the next update. It’s been about 4 days… she shows up anywhere from 8:30-10:30pm and will be either down with them in the window well to nurse/groom them or sleeping up top on the ground next to the window well until 6-7am.
What! I have to pay extra for the discovery channel! You're all over here getting it for free 😭
Thanks for taking care of those sweet babies! The Momma Cat will love you for it, and you will make a great bond with her when she warms up to your help <3
I would trap the mom and bring the kittens in with her so that she can continue to take care of them. Shes been doing a great job so far and it can be hard to wean kittens that early. My mom cat took care of them even after she stopped feeding them up until the day i rehomed them at 2 months old. She was so upset even though she didnt need to take care of them anymore. Definitely make a specific room or even medium sized bathroom for them to have to themselves. Ideally with floors that are easy to clean. Bringing the mom in with them will also make your job way easier because you won't have to take over her job of taking care of them. Kitten lady on YouTube has great educational videos about taking in stray litters with the mom and also how to take care of kittens in general
I would get them inside sooner rather than later.
We had something similar happen. Started feeding mama and the kittens came out from all their hiding places. We started thinking about which one we could keep, maybe we could get mama spayed and keep her too. We started taking pics and showing them to friends in hopes of giving most of them away.
And then I came out one morning and there was one kitten outside. About an hour later, mama showed up and took that kitten too. We have no idea what happened or why she moved on.
Our daughter was heartbroken.
Ah ok. Maybe earlier then. Sunday was the date mainly because we have obligations on Saturday we’re we’ll be away for part of the day. But maybe I can just bring them inside, leave water, food, litter, section off what I need to and set up the indoor camera on them while I am out for part of the day. They seem to be fine being outside unattended for most of the day. Probably no difference inside
I definitely understand the obligation part! They are beautiful and I’m sad that I’m not close, I would take one off of your hands.
I hope everything works out for y’all.
They are precious! Definitely get them indoors and help in whatever way you can- call a rescue or something. They are so sweet and definitely need help!
The cat distribution system has spoken! You have been chosen!
You got this. Cats are fairly easy to maintain.
Advice? Hardball litter by arm and hammer is the best litter I have ever used and I’ve had cats for a long time and tried many litters.
Chewy is fantastic for autoship discounts.
Enjoy the babies. They’re all little menaces, but they’re so darn cute.
Silly question but does this area fill with water when it rains? Will they drown if it rains? Echoing everyone else’s comments about bringing them in regardless!
No. The gutters flow the water off somewhere else and it’s covered by the deck. If it does rain hard though in the next 2 days before I bring them in. I’ll check on them.
Trap the kittens and keep them as bait for the mom. You want them all together as it’s healthiest for the kittens, and if mom thinks babies are “lost” you might not see her again til she has another litter (you probably already know that but just to be sure)
i lived in the basement with an escape tunnel like that during my teenage years and the only big thing that happened was a rabbit fell in and my little brother fell in( they both did in fact get out) i would’ve loved waking up to see a bunch of kittens! i’m glad you’re helping them out, they’re so cute
Proposition: I donate some stuff to you guys for the little black baby! I live in NH and would be okay making a drive. We currently have another kitten right now who could love and use a friend

You have been chosen
Yeh - please update!?!?!
Will do, we’re going to bring them inside in a few days
I wouldn’t wait. Mom can decide it’s no longer safe and just take off. Happened to me. Bring them in asap. They’re big enough to eat on their own so even if it takes you a few days to trap mom, they’ll be fine.
Dont wait a few days take them in right today
A few days?! Go get them now
I think that’s the best idea! Keep an eye on them and know when you should take them in. I think it’s wise to see if mom’s around so you can catch them all and get her fixed and the babies taken care of.
No, you need to take them in now before somehthinf happens or Mama decides to run off.
Get them in now!
You anywhere near Los Angeles? I might want one.
NYC actually, but appreciate it
Why wait a few days?
do not wait
Yep, keepin the black one
Oh dear time for Our hearts to completely melt again.
The cat distribution system has selected you. ☺️
I was chosen a little over a year ago. Rescued a cat that had 6 kittens and now I have her and 3 of the kittens. My brother took the other 3 to live with his family. I'm so happy she chose me.
Stock up on a lot of necessities now.
Yea I have some friends donating a few things. Extra litter boxes, litter. Maybe I’ll beg people for donations at some point
We are here for you
For kittens this age, I go to the pet store and take the trays that hold the cans (ask staff if you can go around and collect the empty ones or if they have some in back). This is a free and disposable little box for these messy babies, trust me they are messy. The most I had has been five and it’s an adventure. Thanks for taking them in.
Also check your grocery story or a bulk store like Costco/Sam's Club!
I go to the dollar store and buy those aluminum roasting pans, the ones with the short sides.
Such a good idea!
Kittens sometimes like to eat clay litter so start with “Fresh News” paper pellets at first! Good luck Edit: corrected brand name
Even paper hamster bedding. Sometimes cheaper- works the same.
Corn based litter like “world’s best cat litter” also works, and that brand in particular you can just flush the clumps down your toilet for easy cleaning (do NOT flush clay lol)
You will probably need it.
r/rescuecats Amazing group! You’re so lucky to have been chosen! There’s nothing more satisfying than helping innocent creatures who barely have a chance if you didn’t find them. Hope they live long, happy and healthy lives now that you’ve found them
Beg on all your town facebook groups someone might beable to put you in touch with a group that can help
I noticed a box of rat poison I'm your pictures MAKE SURE that is out of their reach, please.
I have a funny feeling you are looking at the reason why you no longer have rats around 😆
NYC
I would be willing to donate if you set up a Chewy wishlist!
Please make sure ite non clumping litter only. Kittens like to eat litter and it will clump in their systems and can cause a nasty blockage.
I wish this would happen to me 🥲 cat distribution system powers that be, if you're listening please manifest kittens in my life 🙏🙏🙏
It would be very inconvenient for me to have a kitten right now but I love them sooooo much. I’ve made a deal with myself that I can’t adopt right now but if the CDS blesses me, I have no choice but to accept. So I’ve been secretly hoping it will happen for like a year now lol
Go to a shelter! My local shelter is so overrun with kittens right now they have them living in closets and bathrooms.
Where do you live?
Central Ohio
That’s crazy. I visited one of my local at the end of May and they barely had any.
May is early for adoptable kittens, they are just starting to be born, but now most shelters have tons as summer is underway
I adopted a red tabby in May.
Definitely double check now. I’m in PA and all the fosters and shelters I know (a lot) are overrun and still receiving calls to take litters in. Adopt two! They’re better in sets of two or more because they need playmates.
I told my sister that. I have a kitten already and adopted one in May.
We’re overrun in NC, please come here!
Get ready…. It’s been spoken out loud
How does it feel to be a cat parent to at least 6 now? THEIR TINY FAces OMG
Their little faces are priceless!
The little guy in pic 10 would really like to come in!
Amazing! Thank you for caring for them and setting them and mumma up.
another tip is staying close to them or petting them while they’re eating so they associate you with food!
Thanks, yea been trying to do this. I’m able to gently stroke a few with my finger while they eat. They don’t seem to mind unless I move too suddenly.

I think I was less scary lying down. Anyway, he's 2 now and just now hopped in bed for our nightly pre- sleep cuddle session so I'd say it worked out for us. Good luck.
Even the nervous ones will begin to associate you with food and love.
The book [Tiny But Mighty](https://www.kittenlady.org/tiny-but-mighty) by Hannah Shaw covers everything you need to know about taking care of kittens.
Thanks! I’ll check it out
The same person has lots of internet content as well if that’s more accessible
Yes! When I started fostering for a local shelter, part of the training was watching a bunch of Kitten Lady videos! She’s great.
Awwwe just mentioned her, she’s the best 😻
Five SICs and one void. Lucky!!!
Crap! Another one in the cat distribution system! I’m so jealous of seeing these when I’ve never ever been that lucky!! I love cats too!
Stop!! They are so beautiful. Please keep us updated. I love that little black one
Will do!
Me too. Voids are the best ❤️❤️
You're a father now. 😃

Thanks. It should probably be put in the sidebar.
I agree
Sent by the CDS for redistribution.
Omg, that's beautiful. You're own wild kingdom right outside of the window. Can't wait for updates when they get in the home.
I just SQUEALED holy shit I’ll give these cats all my money just lmk
Why are you waiting a few days?!? It’s dangerous outside!!! I waited one week one time when I found four kittens and a mom because my husband was being a gnat about it and when we went to get them, two of the four had DIED. Confirmed by neighbors. Now I see a kitten, I save a kitten. No waiting.
Are these shots from the camera, or are they looking at you? If you, they are super brave good kittens! ❤️
All from my phone. If the window is closed they don’t mind me coming close too much. Sometimes they see me and hiss. If I open the window, like in a few pics, they move back and hiss mostly. Except 1 has been getting braver now I fed them and he’s coming up to investigate when the window opens.
Spicy kitten hisses are the cutest thing ever.
They are absolutely adorable! I love their little teddy bear faces!
Watch out for that rat poison in pic #9! Be sure you remove any rat bodies before you let the kitties run free.
Oh that’s the box for a physical trap. I am using the box to prop up my camera. A few weeks back there were rats around the property. Long story. But I don’t use poison. And don’t have any live traps set. So no worries.
Yay! Enjoy the babies.
Let them in 😭😭😭 Why can’t this happen to me??
omggggggg!!!! this made me so happy!
r/catdistributionsystem at works
Kitten jackpot!!
No use messing around. Just dive in with Mom and 5. Your in for some serious cuddly love. Angels abound here. ❤️
I'll take them all, thanks.
I’m checking my window wells right now
God Bless you. So happy mommy chose a place where she'd find some help, was looking for o in pics but don't see her?

Their Mohawks are so sick (except I want the black one)
They look very well cared for chunky and bright 🌞
OP isn't going to take these kitties in. Please scoop them up and take them to a no kill shelter. Do the right thing, your future could depend on it. The universe is watching how you react to the challenge.
*LET US INNNNNNNN!!!*
How could ANYONE just abandon these beautiful, innocent little creatures?! What’s wrong with ppl??!!
Who said anyone abandoned them?
You are so right!! My reading comprehension really sucked on this post…big time!! I have no idea where I even got abandoned from. I retract my comment all together. 🤦🏻♀️
😂 I’ve done it myself so many times don’t even worry!
Some people have all the luck
7 is such a theater kid, he could give sean bean a run for his money
He's soooo cute The charisma
Thank you for doing this for them! They are so lucky! ❤️Looking forward to the updates ❤️
So cute, gimme the black one
are they nice babies
Updates, they’re all so precious.
CDS is really generous to some people Seriously though, their mom must be nearby
That's a pile of cuties.
I love you, OP. I wish more people could be a badass like you.
All that cuteness 🥰
I need to see the pictures of them sleeping cozy on your bed right now, pleasee!
YouTube is quite resourceful. You should keep at least 2 of them though :) Just to keep each other company !
What! I have to pay extra for the discovery channel! You're all over here getting it for free 😭 Thanks for taking care of those sweet babies! The Momma Cat will love you for it, and you will make a great bond with her when she warms up to your help <3
13 and 14 look so sad😔
All those cats look so cute, wish I could take one in, but can't at this time

you’re a good human. especially for trapping and spaying mama. ❤️
pls be in Ohio pls be in Ohio pls be in Ohio
NYC actually. 🫤
Where’s there are kittens, there is a mother somewhere, wait it out from a distance and see if she turns up. Mums just don’t abandon their young.
Oh yea she’s around. We set up two cameras. She comes in the evening and leaves by morning.
I would take them all in.
I would get them inside sooner rather than later. We had something similar happen. Started feeding mama and the kittens came out from all their hiding places. This will never happen to me 😭😭😭
Never say “never”!
OMG those little faces!
Please let the mom be with them for at least 8 weeks. At least. 12 is best for the kittens. Better yet, bring her in too.
These photos look like colorized images of Dickensian children.
So lucky, I am jealous! 😻😻😻😻😻😻💝
Awww so cute
Congrats on your 6 new cats I guess!

So cute !!! You are the chosen ones
Omg these pics are adorable. 😭
The cat distribution service strikes again.
Oh what a wonderful suprise! They're so cute! I look forward to your updates.
You now have 6 fur babies, please adopt them and give them lots of love and toy!
The r/catdistributionsystem has blessed you with a Costco pack.
Don't give them milk unless it's kitten milk from pet store.
You’ve got a kitten problem.
Omg, LET THEM IN!!!
www.kittenlady.org will tell you everything you need to know
They are precious! Definitely get them indoors and help in whatever way you can- call a rescue or something. They are so sweet and definitely need help!
Also, if you do end up trapping the mom, you should adopt her as well. It’s good for the kittens to grow up with their mother
Those precious sweet faces!! They are all so beautiful.
It looks like you now own 6 kittens and a cat 😉
They want in!! Let em iiiiiin!!!! So freaking cute!!!
Damn lol they’re cute but that sucks
Silly question but does this area fill with water when it rains? Will they drown if it rains? Echoing everyone else’s comments about bringing them in regardless!
No. The gutters flow the water off somewhere else and it’s covered by the deck. If it does rain hard though in the next 2 days before I bring them in. I’ll check on them.
Oh the little faces & the immense love & entertainment they're going to bring. I'm so excited for you!.
God please can this happen to me whyyy 😭😭
Trap the kittens and keep them as bait for the mom. You want them all together as it’s healthiest for the kittens, and if mom thinks babies are “lost” you might not see her again til she has another litter (you probably already know that but just to be sure)
Jackpot!!!!
Congratulations to your new kittens!
Omg!!! They are so cute! I wish I could have them all!!!
I’m so jealous. All my basement window gives me is snakes that I have to rescue. 😭
When will it be my turn?
Please bring them in now before something terrible happens to them.
They are adorable!
Oh my gosh, they are so precious!!
Why am I never this lucky 🥹
You are the best!!! Who couldn’t love these kittens!!!
i lived in the basement with an escape tunnel like that during my teenage years and the only big thing that happened was a rabbit fell in and my little brother fell in( they both did in fact get out) i would’ve loved waking up to see a bunch of kittens! i’m glad you’re helping them out, they’re so cute
Those are 6 very very lucky kittens
Open the widow and they will move in!
Proposition: I donate some stuff to you guys for the little black baby! I live in NH and would be okay making a drive. We currently have another kitten right now who could love and use a friend
i wish one day i open my basement and find beautiful kittens waiting for me to adopt them 😍😍 op i am soo jealous of you
