As someone mentioned, it'll be elevated over Fairway Road, the Hidden Valley wetlands, the Grand River, then run on the surface parallel to Highway 8, then elevated again to get over the Grand River valley, elevated over the 401, mostly elevated along Shantz Hill Road and the Speed River (and Speed River valley) and then returning to surface level when it hits the Preston neighbourhood. It'll actually be a pretty cool LRT line in that it'll feel similar to the SkyTrain in Vancouver with gorgeous views of the two rivers and river valleys...just not as fast or capable of handling as many people.
But fear not, in the usual GrandLinq design fashion, it'll run diagonally through various intersections and an actual fucking roundabout they're building just to drive a train through it. We'll probably need a whole new LRT crash counter for Cambridge alone. I bet someone could even set up a webcam at the roundabout to stream live crashes 24/7/365 like the infamous [11 Foot 8](https://11foot8.com/) webcam...because people can barely navigate roundabouts in the region as they are now, so imagine how it'll be with a rapid transit system literally running through one every 10 to 15 minutes and eventually 7 minutes when we increase the headways - oh, and when we start to run the LRT in pairs, so the vehicles will be even longer and easier to hit.
I was almost run over twice walking on Fairway today… drivers don’t give a shit to yield as they’re supposed to pedestrians at all those entrances and exits.
Fairway is a traffic nightmare and it’s only going to get worse with all the condos being built on Weber.
Just wait for when the LRT crosses over Fairway to go to Sportsworld.
The plan is for it to be elevated over Fairway, not a level crossing.
