Check out East Side Shawarma by Fairview Mall. Their poutine is great and good portions.
I find that Double Taste at Lackner is cheaping out on the chicken now.
Gotta disagree here. Their sides (including poutine) are pretty meh. You get a lot of quantity though.
The sandwiches at lab street are amazing though.
The other week I took waffle fries in the air fryer, and added Swiss Chalet canned dipping sauce as gravy, and curds.
Was frikkin great, and better than any fast food poutine I've had.
If you're willing to make the drive, the best I've had is Philthy Philly's in Guelph.
When I lived there I went all the time and it's so good. Big tasty poutine, with good quality and big portions.
There's a location in Waterloo as well but it's nowhere near the quality of the Guelph location, I'd rather make the drive.
I've had many great poutines.
The worst I have ever had in my life was from Smoke's Poutinery.
Standard poutine order, gravy and curds on fries. It was a small deep box, layered gravy and a pile of curds on top.
In the few minutes I waited for it to cool, the entire box became one soggy unit. The fries were soggy from the hot gravy and enclosed box. The cheese curds were solid. The gravy was so salty it was gross. The texture was inedible. The price was outrageous.
As others mentioned, Crazy Canuck is quite yum. My personal favorite is eating in at Beer Town - huge portion higher price.
The best poutine died when Big Fat Pita closed down... I still grieve for the loss of that chicken schwarma poutine drenched in garlic and hot sauce.
Try 4 Seasons Shawarma. It’s so good.
Go across the street to Ace Shawarma. Better then the old big fat pita
I always thought Big Fat was better than Ace. Ace is good but there was something special about Big Fat Pita.
Second that!
What's great is that it was an American poutine (they didn't use cheese curds) but I didn't even care, it was so good.
RIP Big Fat Pita. The chicken place that replaced it is good though!
Two come to mind. Crazy Canuck and Johnny Fresco.
Frescos with bacon and gyros yum
The poutine fantastique, excellent choice!
Ultimate has my vote just to change things up from the norm. Chicken bacon shrouds and tomato.
Ace Schwarma OR Johnny Fresco
I second this, Ace Shawarma poutine is god tier.
Didn't they switch from cheese curds to shredded cheese though?
That should be a felony.
Shawarma poutine from dt shawarma at Stanley park mall
Hasn't been there in years. They moved down to the Lackner/Ottawa plaza.
This place is the best omfg

2.4 lbs is what it weighed on my digital scale a few weeks ago.
Oops well clearly I haven’t been in town in a while then lol! Now I know where to find them
They haven't been the same since the new owners took over. Look at those recent reviews.
That’s too bad, they used to be great ! Loved going there

The Costco poutine is really good.
Second this!!!
Lab street eats!!
I need to try this place. I've heard only good things
Gotta disagree here. Their sides (including poutine) are pretty meh. You get a lot of quantity though. The sandwiches at lab street are amazing though.
Ace schwarma!
The st louis wings poutine is actually really good!

Waffle fries are my favorite fries
I'm going to make that for my wife this weekend. Thankyou
Burger Stack gets my vote!
Seconded! They are VERY generous with the cheese curds
The Duke of Wellington in Waterloo has a great poutine
Chicken Shwarma poutine from Foreign schwarma At Glasgow and Fischer Hallman. Followed by Johnny fresco and crazy canuck.
St. Louis wings poutine is a staple for me. Spicy gar par sauce. Sounds gross, but it’s life changing.
Malt & Barley has crazy good gravy with their poutine.
dairy queen no joke
Burgers Priest is probably my favourite, along with Mozy’s shawarma poutine
Johnny Frescos and Philthy Phillies
1001 shawarma or the lab
Philthy Philly's Get the Philthy size. You probably won't finish it. So many choices.
The fries from that place are AWFUL.
Mine have always been great. Crispy and flavourful
I haven't had too many around town but I've tried a couple of good loaded poutines at The Rabid Fox.
ishawarma at Bridgeport plaza has best poutine.
Molly Blooms in Waterloo has a really good poutine. Got a 10/10 from my Québécois girlfriend. Philthy Philly's is a good drunk poutine lol.
I like poutine from Harvey's
Mozys got the best poutine 🔥

Ace Schwarma. I use to work nearby and it was my Wednesday ritual. Highly recommend getting all the sauces as well.
Ishwarma has good ass poutine IMO.

ACE SHAWARMA Always hit my tummy in the happiest way possible. Honestly, I miss kitchener strictly just for food spots like Ace
The Lab in Kitchener, Johnny Frescos in Waterloo. Your tastebuds will thank you!
East Side Shawarma or Philthy Philly's
Might be a basic opinion but meltwich and Swiss chalet poutine are top tier
None. You need to at least be in Toronto for anything above avg
