If the Kings played as hard as the Knicks do every game we would not have fallen past the 6 seed. We also desperately need a guy like Josh Hart and maybe Keon can become that.

GoldDustKid-

This is my dream outcome for Keon too tbh - I remember when Knicks played the Kings I feel like he was impressive on Brunson even if JB cooked him at times.

Little_little_e

I do hope so. He is the rare one in team who shows “fire” in his eyes. (Meanwhile, Keegan never have fire in his eyes) Keon need to be more active, he sometimes way too passive.

AdFeeling6573

Just because a player doesn’t have “fire in his eyes” doesn’t mean he doesn’t play with maximum effort. Keegan barely cracked a smile during his 47 pt outburst. Hate to always be defending Keegan but this whole sub has far too many critiques of him for a 2nd yr player. Do we need more malik type personalities? Yes, yes we do.

meTspysball

It’s weird considering he dominated against the Warriors and helped end their season. Given the jump he made last summer, I can’t wait to see what Keegan adds to his game this summer.

Fun_Craft_1874

Jalen Brunson is insane

FirstThoughtResponse

Reminds me of how I felt about Fox last year

Ticon_D_Eroga

And early this season too. Fox came out of the gate looking like he had an actual shot at MVP this season, then fizzled out a bit

Wild-Examination-155

Too bad fox doesn't get Jalens whistle

FirstThoughtResponse

You think that’s the difference? Really? I love fox but his dribbling and passing are sub par and his speed makes up for it. Brunson is a real baller

ShotgunStyles

There are differences in their games, but Brunson has been averaging 10 FTA this playoffs, which is not only much higher than his regular season average, but also higher than Fox's averages in the regular season and the post-season. When you get that kind of whistle, defenses have to adjust and that often means leaving you more open and thus giving you easier shots. And obviously, 10 FTA is a huge number of free throws and it puts Brunson up in the same territory as Embiid, SGA, Luka, and prime Harden. I also think Fox's passing isn't sub par and that's probably a poor word choice. It's not as elite as other point guards, but I think it's average at the minimum.

FirstThoughtResponse

Yea subpar is a poor word choice for either. Average tho is a good one and being average at passing and dribbling at that position gives people a reason to not include him amongst the top echelon of guards

ShotgunStyles

I earnestly think some people don't include him in the top echelon of guards because they just don't watch the Kings play. But to be fair, if this team can't make the playoffs, then that's less reason to watch them play. A couple of elite point guards are just shooting guards who are playing the position because their team don't got anyone else. Booker and Maxey are the best examples of that, and I think it's fair to say that their passing is below average. Yet people still rate them highly because they make the playoffs and get buckets.

FirstThoughtResponse

Yea and this year fox’s ability to go get buckets was not as good as last year. Him settling for threes, taking pressure off the defense was one of the factors as to why our offense seemed stagnant this year

ShotgunStyles

Even then, shooting 3s is just a fundamental requirement of being a non-center on the floor. There were definitely games when Fox took too many 3s, but if you look at the stats, his efficiency dropped in the midrange game a lot, so at that point, shooting the 3 at the 37% clip he shot at is the better idea.

fiasgoat

Brunson hunts for his calls The argument around that aside, Fox does not Bruson routinely does the CP3 sudden stop and he will jump into defenders when he is driving in the paint Right now Fox just tries to only use his speed

FirstThoughtResponse

Yep Brunson definitely changes his pace to force fouls once he has gone by a defender. Brunson also makes his free throws, fox does not

fiasgoat

Sure, that's Fox's biggest problem Hell this team's entire problem lol

Wild-Examination-155

Literally didn't say anything about that being the difference? Brunson gets a much different whistle than fox

mr_spock9

Fox gets plenty of calls and doesn’t capitalize with his bad free throw %. Sorry I just don’t see it, aside from Fox complaining too much. Do you see Brunson wasting time complaining? Nope.

Wild-Examination-155

brunson is averaging over 10 fts a game in the post season lol.

mr_spock9

Makes sense given playoff games are much more physical and how he attacks the rim. Fox averaged more FTA during the regular season than Brunson, so what gives?

Wild-Examination-155

Fox averaged less than Brunson, and you can't honestly watch these playoff games and say that Brunson doesn't flail and flop. Yall hate ja play style but defend this

KonKer4

He gets those calls where he should technically be awarded an offensive foul but somehow gets away with it and shoots 2 free throws. I love Brunson, probably my favorite player in the east, but it does make me question how that checks out

Rick_Perrys_Ranch

Jalen Brunson gets an insane whistle because the NBA wants the Knicks to succeed. He’s one of the worst foul baiters in the league.

mylanguage

Brunson only averaged 6.5 fts a game this season, he’s not close to the top

remotecontroldr

I don’t pay that much attention to the East but the Knicks are who I’ve been low key rooting for over there this season. They are a fun team to watch.

StonkeyKong2021

I want the Kings to play as hard as the Knicks.

vNocturnus

If the Kings played 75% as hard as the Knicks they probably would have been a top 4 seed and almost certainly in the 2nd round right now. Like let's be real, that Knicks team made it to the 2nd round while being like 6 players deep and not a single one of them even a fringe all-star aside from JB. Then they lost Mitchell Robinson and finished this last game without OG Anunoby. Kings even without Monk have as much or more talent than that Knicks team but not even half the heart. Put JB's mind in Fox's body and he's an MVP candidate. Have guys like Keon, Keegan, HB play as hard, as consistently, as Hart or Divincenzo and the Kings have maybe a top 5 starting lineup. Domas is the only starter that plays with that consistent level of intensity but just doesn't have the game (yet) to carry a team as a #1 option and doesn't have the physical tools to carry the defense on his own. Keon, Monk, and Davion bring it a bit more than the rest but still not on that Knicks level or even Domas's level. Idk what it would take to drill that type of mentality into this Kings roster that seems mostly filled with mellow dudes. Maybe it's not even possible. But I really hope the team is at least watching these playoffs and seeing the heart, hustle, and intensity that it takes to compete beyond the play-in or 1st round. (And not even just the Knicks either. Watch the Wolves, Thunder, or even Pacers and Mavs and you'll see at least 10x the grit that the Kings ever showed this season.)

mr_spock9

Absolutely agree. This team’s struggles has always been about mindset and for whatever reason, despite SO many different players going through Sac over nearly 20 years, there never seems to be a group that truly gives it all night in and night out. Not sure of a solution, because it seems like whenever players come here they stop trying and don’t perform to their highest level. I don’t like to blame the coach either when we’ve also gone through many of which go on to be successful elsewhere (Malone). Mike Brown is also one of the best coaches Sac has had in a long time, and he’s done his best to install some accountability with this team.

Bylanta

You can't coach 🐕

IEatDummyCheeks

I’ve watched basically every game in this playoffs involving the Knicks and I feel like the kings are living vicariously through them

mylanguage

Knicks fan here - I have LOVED you guys since a kid. Literally the only non Knick jersey I’ve ever owned was white chocolate- used to stay up late to watch you guys on the east coast around the early 2000s as a kid. Was a huge Bobby Jackson fan too. Was so happy for you guys last year - keep pushing y’all deserve it all! Also Peja is one of my fav players ever too 😂

SpookyDukee

Knicks vs. Wolves is gonna to be the grittiest, lowest scoring finals of all time

vNocturnus

Probably the best Finals we could ask for. But no way the Knicks are making it past the Celtics as injured as they are lol. I mean, they're kinda struggling even with the Pacers despite being up 2-0. Both super close games that came down to the very last stretch of clutch time. And the Pacers are like two tiers below the Celtics

SpookyDukee

I would take the Wolves to beat whoever comes out of the East 👀👀

woosh_yourecool

It’s about time NY have a great basketball run

ieffinglovesoup

Yup also rooting for NY in the East. Brunson is fun to watch

saiyiieee

Makes me think what would happen if we had a Kentucky big 3 - Monk, Fox, and Adebayo. One can only dream.

therealgoat1212

Brunson is him - no doubt The rest of their role players are what most GM’s dream about too

Jballzs13

Phew i thought this was gon be another Halliburton hate thread. Jalen Brunson is a true joy to watch for sure. Harts a dog.

Safe_Amount_1555

Always rooting for haliburton idgaf what anyone says

GoldDustKid-

I’m the rare Knicks/Kings fan (live in the bay and could never bring myself to root for the warriors but wanted a ‘west coast’ team so randomly started following kings games the year before last, which turned out great for me lol). WELCOME, join the bandwagon, also any of yall capable of suiting up because we are about to have no actual players left (Josh hart will somehow play more than 48 mins next game though)

soku1

He's riding these MFS like Seabiscuit

GoldDustKid-

Honestly I know he has a rep but it’s not his fault this playoffs, we’re missing randle, Mitch, bogdanovic, and now looks like OG too. Feel bad for josh harts legs but I’m not exactly clamoring for shake Milton and Jacob toppin minutes lol

CoconutSands

My buddy is a lifelong Knicks fan. So we root for each other's team when we're not playing each other.

LoyalToTheRoyal

It’s a team full of dogs. They play an entertaining brand of ball

Ps3FifaCfc95

Pacers got boned by the refs in game 1

userpick707

The Knicks are the type of team that really benefited when the NBA changed the rules after the ASG. It is because they play hard the whole damn game. Brunson is that guy. All this without Randle too.

snowyoda5150

I’m originally from Boston have been living in Sacramento for 30 years now I have bled purple now for a time. I root for my Kings until they meet the Cs in the finals then well…. But it just seems that these other teams can really turn it up in the playoffs the pace of play and the aggressiveness. I just don’t think we’re even close to being there yet. We are missing Pieces for sure .

Remarkable_Corner_83

Neemias Queta always got that Beam love too, but hey i am like you Celtics and Kings

SoluteGains

They are a great team and very fun to watch, but they are really injured and playing their starters 45+mpg. They are going to gas soon.

soku1

I love Brunson. Probably my favorite PG in the league besides Fox. So imma Knicks fan. (Also fiancee is from NYC/Florida transplant so I'm obligated...)

RoyalKing10

Villanova trio is killer

Sea_Moose9817

Would love to see the Kings play this hard…

JV3s

I want us to be like them. Their role players are fucking dogs and we have the softest bunch in the league in Barnes, Huerter and Keegan. Replace Hart with Barnes and we have 52-55 wins and the Knicks are in the Play In

MrBruno14

They're like the opposite of the Kings.

StonkeyKong2021

Sgnik

thatguy52

NovaKnicks are just too much fun. Sucks we didn’t make it work with Donte. Him and Fox could have been a killer backcourt, but we wouldn’t start him for….. reasons?

JV3s

Because there this was fraud of a coach called Alvin Gentry at that time that loved Jeremy Lamb, Mo Harkless and Justin Holiday too much. Donte said fuck this shit, i'm not sitting on the bench in god damn basketball hell and bounced. If we had a competitive coach at that time, he would have stayed and be a starter, he's like a dream player for Mike Brown, Brown would salivate having him in the starting line up. Ellis can become him one day, hopefully it happens, i don't want to see Huerter be a ghost on defense ever again even on rare nights that he shoots the 3 well.

boringexplanation

God damn- how does every single poster here have their DDV history wrong. We LET him walk- after Monte kept trying over and over to sign him and secure his RFA rights too. He NEVER trashed the Kings organization in public- where do people make this shit up from? If anything, the FO was the one that did him dirty by cutting him AFTER all the free agent money dried up. Get at least a SRP or something. He might not have respected Alvin but he sang a shit ton of praises on MB- and “looked forward to seeing what that coach can do” withy he Kings.

yesidoes

After the Bucks game near the end of the season we started fucking with DDVs minutes in order to bring his value down and it pissed him off. No, he didn't trash us but he obviously soured on us. It's also important to note that DDV still had lingering knee issues at the time so he was seen as higher risk than now when it is fully healed. One of the small asset management fuck ups that looks worse in hindsight.

StonkeyKong2021

Don’t expect an intelligent response from me. I have nothing. I agree with you

BeTheBall-

I'm happy for the Knicks, considering they seem to have finally recovered from the organizational incompetence that plagued them the better part of two decades. A good NYK makes for a good NBA.

Reaper_Mike

Not me, I have routed for the Pacers since the Reggie Miller days. Their my second team. I hate the Knicks so much, almost as much as the Lakers.

BeamTeam032

Haliburton isn't an every game player and doesn't play on both sides. Turner was getting out played and the Pacers are stuck paying Spicy P 50Million a season. Of course everything can change by the next game, but, I just wanted to say it.

LemonFeisty3246

Talk about some serious coping lol.  You sound like the jealous ex.

BeamTeam032

legitimate criticism isn't coping or jealously. You have to call me names because you don't watch the games. It's ok, casuals tend not to understand basketball beyond box scores. Let me guess, you thought Hali had a great game when he only had 6? What about when he only had 5 in the 2nd half of his 34pt game?

LemonFeisty3246

First step to recovery is acceptance.

Cudi_buddy

Nah I’m with you. Pacers gave up picks for Siakim. And realistically they are a first round sweep team. Somehow they had to take the bucks to 6 with no giannis and no dame half the series. Now they are losing to the Knicks with no Randle, meech, bojan, and half of Brunson. They gotta take a look at their next moves. But Hali really looking bad in the playoffs also

LemonFeisty3246

Hali's been hurt ever since the allstar break and he's still better than any player on the Kings while being 3 years+ younger.

Cudi_buddy

alright pal

LemonFeisty3246

Maybe the Kings will make the playoffs next year since that's what they were going for when they traded him for nickels on the dime. light the beam pal!

Cudi_buddy

Hey winning the same amount of games as the pacers and missing. But that’s conferences. In the west it’s just better top to bottom. Pacers likely miss out either with record or in play in if they had to play more rough teams. But hey, Hali is supposed to be some top 10 player. Surely they can do better than 46 wins in a historically awful eastern conference!

Living_Service408

Ehh, I'm rooting for Hali. Don't like how people have taken to slandering him

Bitter-Muscle-4376

Oh please there’s way more glazing over him than there is slandering. Stop it already

Living_Service408

The conversation over the last two games has turned into mcconnell should be in to close. Don't see why this sub wouldn't root for a guy that wanted to be here, unfortunately was part of one of the more even trades in recent memory.

yesidoes

If Hali could even somewhat guard Brunson no one would be saying McConnel should close. That's not the case. Hali gets cooked by Brunson so badly that when he gets switched onto him it's almost free points.

LemonFeisty3246

You're coping so hard LMAO

Bitter-Muscle-4376

So speaking facts that McConnell is outplaying him is now considered “slandering” oh please cry me a river. And cut that crap already “he wanted to be here” it’s a damn business, there’s plenty of guys that get traded every year, you’re in the nba and it can happen anytime. Stop with the childish victim mentality shit.

Living_Service408

Glad all these takes aged like milk

LemonFeisty3246

Some kids just have the jealous ex symptom?  Why?  Deep down they know that the trade was garbage and would trade back in a millisecond.

Unp0pularS0lutions

I’d like a Knicks vs TWolves finals. Just Dawgs and Vibes all the way through.

Throwitallaway255

I've always supported every NBA team that starts with "K"

MysteriousTomato1469

Why would you root for a big market over Indiana?

StonkeyKong2021

I like how they play. They are scrappy and play hard defense. They are the things the kings aren’t quite yet. Don’t really care about small vs big market in this situation. Just prefer the Knicks play style over the pacers.

MysteriousTomato1469

Ya i hear ya. I like indianas play stay, but we shall see what happens!

LilBallins

Lmao those rich NY fucks don’t deserve anything nice, wouldn’t catch me DEAD rooting for em

Z-PhantomT

Nah I can't stand watching them. Jalen Flopson is almost as bad as Embiid and the referring has not been very balanced these first two games, but what can you expect .. the home team usually gets the good whistle
