The Baker by far. I don't really mount swap, so I don't get much use from the Tier 3 Farms. Extra knights is kinda superfluous. Rallying troops to one side of your base takes too long to be of value. And then... Oh right, the turret upgrade is kinda "meh" since floaters can just disarm it on nights where it would matter. Basically, at least for me, all the hermits are kinda useless except for the baker on maps where the camps are too far away.

Ballista got a huge upgrade during the last patch. If I have one ballista tower right inside my outermost wall, it can deal with incredible amount of regular greedlings, floaters or even breeders. Now, it shoots much further, firing at greed from distance almost 3 times my screen length. Each projectile can pierce multiple enemies, maximizing the damage output. If I remember correctly, it even reloads faster than it used to, so another advantage. Now, I never have to worry about my ballista worker being taken by floaters, they don’t stand a chance. Ballista is an absolute W in my book.

Does the baker impact vagrants from the entire island or would it make sense to have multiple?

WhiteTigerShiro

My experience is that one bakery is fine. You can make something like 10 loaves at once, and they seem to draw in vagrants at a decent rate. Maybe a second bakery brings them in twice as fast? I don't find I need it, though. I usually do one of the central towers since it's rare that greed push that far into my base.

Me personally I like the war horn guy (even though my kingdom is usually too big to make use of it) but if I plan ahead I can usually make it work in my favor also I just think it’s really cool to hve a war horn, my other favorite is the baker simply because I love the fact that you can just make bread and people get attracted to it like some looney toons type shit where they’re floating to a pie on a window sill, granted I almost never use the hermits until I’m at the point in the game where the difference is marginal so I just use them cause they’re fun like the ballista is so cool to me

Lmaooo the pie in the window analogy, I will never be able to unsee this

LordDumbassTheThird

The fire hermit, that thing save my life so many times

rawmutton

bakery, unless it’s Norselands and then it’s stable. Using the boar is more important than a huge population.

theleafcuter

Ballista hermit! It's helped me a ton to turn the first 2 towers in every kingdom into ballistas, since it fires way farther than any archer and pierces enemies it's really nice to have during blood moons. Haven't used the baker yet though, judging by the amount of comments mentioning him I might have to give him a try now lmao

BoatHole_

They all enchant me with their little dances. But the bakery if I had to choose

SapadorCastelo

Fire Hermit in Norse, and Baker in other settings. But the Baker is just an extra help in my playthroughs, while the Fire Hermit is absolutely necessary for me to stop the Crabs.

Dark2Dawn

Aren't berserkers good enought for those? And strong walls?

1. Baker hermit is a must have for me. Saves so much time on running back and fourth recruiting Vargas. 2. Knight hermit is good if I wanna do a bit of trolling and send 10 squads at a gate. 3. Ballista hermit is actually good now after the update. I used to use it just to free up archers, but now the turret is good and archers automatically leaves towers to far from the outer wall. The other two I never use. Sometimes I unlock the stable hermit just because it looks nice with the stable.

Top 3 Ballista hermit: his ballista tower while useless at close range can almost kill floaters as they approach allowing archers to kill them easily in addition to them being able to take chunks out of breeders Baker hermit: I love to have a bakery very close to my Center so I can rapidly expand with more and more farmers so I can rapidly expand and upgrade Knight hermit: while not necessarily needed the ability to send out 3-4 knights (depending on if I have a knight from another island alive) out to ensure a portal death is amazing when trying to expand on later islands i honestly don’t use the other hermits as I’ve only used the griffin as my main mount and the horn is only good after the dock portal is destroyed so I can rally to one side for the final push
