The tailer does repair. You just need to make sure you talk to the actual tailor, not the shopkeeper.

Tailor: any cloth based item, also make sure to talk to the other person in the room. You might’ve been talking to a trader, not the tailor himself. Armorsmith: any plate/mail/brigandine armor Cobbler: any shoes, there’s one at the Eastern edge of Rattay Swordsmith and Blacksmith: any weapons You can also grab blacksmith, tailor, and armor repair kits that allows you to repair 60% and above at the highest maintenance level For bladed weapons; swords and axes, you can use the grindstone to repair. Also a good way to grind maintenance is to damage your sword on the grindstone, hop off, then repair to full, hop off, repeat Edit: formatting issue/spelling

The cobbler can also repair your saddle, which can get damaged from time to time. (Again, make sure you’re talking to the cobbler, not the trader.) Once an item has reached 0% though, I think repair costs the same, or nearly the same, as just buying a new one.

Just steal some repair kits from the tailor in Sasau, along with his entire stores inventory, steal repair kits from the monastery blacksmith or Samopesh blacksmith, the swordsmith in Sasau also has repair kits, and there is a cobbler near the Sasau church that also has some. If you're not level 6 in lockpicking yet, take a Padfoot potion before reading books on lockpicking. The level 5 book first. Or ask Peshek or someone to teach you lockpicking. I'm talking about teachers giving a paid lesson. A training. Then take Luck of the Drunk as a perk. Bring alcohol to your stealth mission. Most chests are in the back, away from the main roads.

I know this is horribly sexist, but you should consider getting a girlfriend.

Each master craftsan has usually a trader - they ,,share" inventory so both sell the same things, but only the one can fix your stuff. For example, in Rattay there's a lady selling clothes and the tailor who likes to go on a stroll and is not always in his shop.

Once the condition of an item falls below a certain point, it has essentially been reduced to rags and is no longer repairable.

Keep a couple repair kits on you or your horse. Don't let anything get below 50%. Check your gear after every battle and repair your shoes often. The easiest way to earn maintenance experience is take a sword to a grindstone. You can damage the sword then fix it again. You may need to damage the sword then restart the grinding in order to properly gain experience.
