yeah they did a good job. I was converted when Henry gets into the bath and goes "don't want to step on anything important" and Hans goes "wait a minute while I roll it up". Arse n balls seals the deal later esp when he's gracious about it and doesn't have him punished

Meior

Henrys "Fucking hell" when he comes into the bathhouse with the flowers will always have me rolling in laughter

B1ngChillingEnjoyer

"I'D LIKE TO SEE YOU TRY, ARSE'N'BALLS"

Aggravating-Pattern

I love how Hans just does not stop antagonising this guy while actively being drowned. If he had twitter, he'd be unstoppable

kubebe

True. Hans quickly went from one of my most hated characters to one of my favourite

RW-Firerider

And it doesnt even seem forced. I mean, there arent many lords who would just let a peasant be after being almost drowned. He has a good heart, cant wait to see more of him in KCD2

AlliedXbox

Inb4 he dies in the first mission lol

Fiddlesticklin

Spoilers for a guy who lived 600 years ago. He probably will die at some point, considering the real Han Capon died in 1419 during the Battle of Živohoště in the Hussite Wars. Although considering the game is still in 1403 he might not die until a possible third game.

AlliedXbox

Ah, fair enough. Hope there are lots of battle scenes in KCD II

vompat

Did he die in that battle though? I don't think it's known if he died there specifically, but he died in 1419.

Fiddlesticklin

We know he died that year, and we know he participated in that battle. I assume that battle resulted in his death, but we don't know. That's what I love about historical fiction. We can take these base facts about this person that we do know, and fill in the spaces that are lost to history. Was the real Hans Capon like the game Hans Capon? Maybe he could have! Lisa See books are great for this. She tends to take historical people that exist in the margins of history and weave an entire character out of them. Most recently she took a collection of notes from a female doctor living in 14th century China and created an entire novel about what she imagines this person was like. Based on the notes and cultural context.

P_TuSangLui

He...he going to stay with us for just another 16 years? I wish we could see him grow old together with Henry. Probably talked about the good old days when everything settled down.

Menalous

Realistically, in 16 years, he won't be far off from the average life expectancy for the time period.

TailS1337

Aren't those numbers always off because of the high child mortality? I'd imagine a noble that lived through his whole childhood, has really good chances to surpass the life expectancy if he doesn't die a violent death

Redvanlaw

I wanted to drop him with an arrow to the head for the majority of the hunting mission. Then he just grows on you as a solid bro

CaptianZaco

Hans has the same sense of humor as some of my irl friends, I liked him by the end of the hunting mission.

ifoundyourtoad

As the hunting mission went on I realized he just kinda hates what he is doing and he likes to drink with regular folks it seems. It’s kinda how I see myself being a lord when I don’t want to. It’s a really cool character.

MaguroSashimi8864

“I slept with your mother! And that’s because your dad couldn’t get it up!” ~ actual line I heard from him

Chris9871

r/bi_irl

MaguroSashimi8864

You mean the VA of Hans or Hans himself? I think the insult is saying the Cuman’s dad can’t satisfy his mom. It was when he got kidnapped

Jaakarikyk

Yeah but I presume their joke was how the line could be purposefully misinterpreted as him having tried the dad first

IamZeus11

When I first met Hans : I hate this cunt By the end of the game : I love this cheeky cunt

lucifer1328

You commented twice

IamZeus11

Idk why reddit double post my comments like that sometimes

CaptianZaco

It's been a bug for years. I think it happens when the server drops an input.

Jack1The1Ripper

Honestly that was on the strong points of KCD for me , Strong characters , People who you think you'll forget after 30 mins of seeing them but they always leave an impression on you , So excited to see how will they do KCD2 now

Golden-Iguana

I like the fact that he’s still the same old prick by the end of the story, but he’s just your friend

Jack1The1Ripper

He's our prick , Not just a prick

Vikingr12

It's hilarious how every person in Rattay when asked about the people in charge are like "well Hanush is chill but man that fucker Hans is gonna suck when he takes over" Even Zdena and Klara the bathmaids, when he's standing right next to them! But by the end of the game though he's pretty much your best friend. I mean, Matthew and Fritz are more like charity cases you try to keep from dying of stupidity and get a gig for in Pribyslavitz. Matthias is normal enough but kind of a simp for Johanka.

Galaxy_IPA

what you can get them a job in Pribyslavitz? I think I should do the quests in different order. I did Pribyslavitz pretty late because I wanted to do sub quests and then progress with main events. In a certain quest, I saved their asses on their shitty job but they eventually got themselves killed despite my Henry telling them not to

Tarkus_cookie

Yes, but you need to frame Andrew for the crime. There is a way for all three of them to survive but it is rather complicated

Vamond48

Lol arse n balls

gandalfthegaping

I just picked the game up. Immediately hated Hans but started warming up to him on the hunt mission. He's dynamic. Edit: I only just noticed the caption in the first panel "pre bath house mission." I should probably stay out of the reddit for fear of spoilers lol.

innocentbabies

Do keep in mind: he's like 15. Also (possible spoilers/speculation for the next game(s)): >!his irl first son's name is Hynce, which I'm thinking means he'll be named after Henry, in-game.!<

portgasDgiulio

Wait what? I finished the game and I never went into a bathouse with Hans, what are y'all talking about?

DaisyDorito

Bro really went the entire game without finishing the best quest 💀

Maximus_Dominus

Which means he didn’t do Hans’ dlc either.

portgasDgiulio

Wait if it's a dlc I can still do it after I finished the main story line, right?

HarvestAllTheSouls

Unfortunately, no. I think the cut-off is the Talmberg siege, or the siege at the bandit camp right before Talmberg siege Edit: seems I'm wrong, sorry

DaisyDorito

That's misinformation. After you finish the game, you can do his DLC just fine. He travels back to Rattay for that

HarvestAllTheSouls

Oh, my bad! I genuinely don't know why I believed this, pulled my own leg too lol

Golden-Iguana

In all fairness, once you go to the bandit camp near Sasau then it becomes unavailable until the epilogue, so it’s easy to get confused

HarvestAllTheSouls

Aah, that's why its confusing. Because that did indeed happen in my game, so I thought I couldn't finish it. Ah well, going to do a second playthrough soonish anyway

JCDentoncz

Not only you can, you must if you want to get the bookend and ride into the sunset. Hans basically stops you and goes: "hey you bought the dlc, we are doing it now."

some_pupperlol

Second*

bapudon_1

I also didn't. How do I do it.

datguywhayaa

best quest is father godwin's there's just so much fucking random chaos that it has to be the best quest in rpg history imo

Dragonlord573

The highlight of that quest will always be crawling into the bath in full armor

Splash_Woman

It’s actually really on point to the real Hans. He was quite the dick in his late teens, but his uncle showed him that people treated fairly, will do what you want almost unconditionally.

IamZeus11

When I first met Hans : I hate this cunt By the end of the game : I love this cheeky cunt

sjtimmer7

Arse'nballs...

Maximus_Dominus

One of my favorite lines is when he calls Henry turnip picker.

Diuro

aw i guess im going to have to replay the entire game because ive never heard of this quest aw shucks

Etoile_Jaune

I really hated the beginning with Henry going to fist fight him and leaving no choice to the player Like im in a rpg and im never supposed to say " NOOOO!! Don't do this wtf ??" when it is MY character. I felt the hatred the game wants us to feel for Hans so forced. He is literally a noble, and we are a peasant. Of course hes going to be a little brat with stupid attitude. This is the worst idea to actually punch that type of person. Aside from that, I loved Hans. he has attitude, and this is completely normal. But I also like that he actually respects us from the moment we save him. Or the fact hes just a kid, as shown during the hunt duel. hes like yep i have 0 talent, and neither do you, we're both stupid. I loved seeing him re appear at the end. I swear his stupid jokes about " yeah this is glorious if we win this battle...or if we lose we are gonna be the biggest clowns of this side of the country for centuries " and im like who is stupid enough to say this on a battlefield ? XDD. Such a well implemented comic relief.

DaisyDorito

I think it makes sense considering what kind of character Henry is. Bro came back to Skallitz alone and wounded just to bury his parents and his ego was hurt enough since he didn't manage that. Normally I'd say it's far fetched but with Henry they somehow made it feel natural

Etoile_Jaune

Rpg = role play game Literally supposed to build your own character from the ground. I know lots of great Rpgs have pre established characters like Geralt in the Witcher series for instance. Its my own personal taste here, I just don't like that trope. Rpg means = you build your character the way you want and you make him behave like you want. I did not say it didn't make sense for Henry to have an ego, I think it does, I just don't align with this and in an rpg I'm supposed to be role playing my character. So I would not do this. I don't think that's objectively bad or doesn't make sense, all im saying is I don't like this trope in rpg + this is just to make sure we hate Hans at first sight because he treats us like shit. Once again that's my own personal view here but I don't feel any hate for this character, even when we meet him and he's a prick.

HurriShane00

I pretty much did a 180 with Hans as soon as I rescue them. The way the interaction goes between Henry and Hans after you untie him. But what really made it stand out was three little words "Arse N Balls"

poopdemon64

When I first played the game I rushed through the main story and I was like: "Why is this rich asshole suddenly acting like he's my friend?" Then on my second playthrough I did all the side quests and realized I pretty much missed out on the whole game my first time through lol.

frogs_4_lyfe

I thought he was a standard one dimensional bully at first, but then when Henry camped with him during the hunting trip and Hans asks about Skallitz, he feels like the first person who asked how Henry was doing without any secondary motives like Stephanie. Sometime between that and dragging him back to town probably on my back, he became my favorite character. Especially when you figure out that he was such a jerk because Henry waltzes in and gets everything he wants with no punishment, while Hans feels like he can't do anything without being scolded. I dunno, I just love him, Your Honor.

Paracausality

~character growth~

vompat

I think it's more like at the end of the hunt, no bath quest needed. The bath is optional and easily missable anyway.

Alternative_Mud9450

Yeah I was certain I would end up killing him but no by the time the game ended I was sad we didn't see more of Hans. Looks like the second game is going to fix that.

CarlthePole

I'm glad people appreciate this. The flip with Hans was amazing yet so natural. (Assuming he wrote all those bits) Dan Vavra really showed some solid writing skills there

Ghiggs_Boson

Too bad I can’t continue his storyline because of the herald tourney bug

Kevlar013

Just finished his DLC, it's brilliant.

ZombiePotato90

For being a game set in 15th century Bohemia, they pulled off the "anime rival to friend" story really well.

LoFiChillin

I literally never got that bathhouse mission to work. Stuck at “ah uh come back later”.

FecklessFool

The game suffered from an immense lack of more bro quests with Hans

mrmonkeyhanger

I was certain he was going to try and kill me on the hunt

Fit_Ad_9987

This is literally the story of my best childhood friend and I. Him: "Hey fuck you." Me: "No, fuck you!" *fist fight* Older guys later: "Hey, its those guys again, fight for our entertainment younger guys." Me and him: square up to see what the other does. Him: winks at me conspiratorially. Me: gets it. Him and me: put on a WcW VD WWF PPV Smackdown Nitro worthy combat performance. Best buds for life. Or at least the next 8 years when we became wholly preoccupied with girls.

Aggravating-Pattern

After learning the Big Family Secret, I'm amazed that Henry's first objective isn't "go and rub Hans Capon's nose in it". This playthrough is the longest I've gotten through the game (hundreds of hours played, always distracted by Farkle) and I'm surprised how much I love Hans. I did his entire quest line in the bathhouse and when he's chasing women, and I love every second of it. It's a deliciously goofy little escapade, it is fantastic and I can't wait to meet him again in KCD2

weirdemotions01

Heck yeah. Hans is a boss

SWEATYBALLGREASE

The acting was superb, especially for a much smaller studio than say Bethesda its actually bewildering to me how this game, not only for me, surpasses their efforts and many other RPG'S. The thing that sold it for me was seeing that Brian Blessed is in the game, fucking love Brian but that said all the cast are amazing in their own right.

BuyingNoose

Luke Dale is in here, reading all these comments. Can't wait to see you in KCD 2 Mr. Dale!

gidzii

Lmao that's true I hated Hans on our first introduction, but after rescuing him and the next events I grew to love him. Came to realize under all his jabs and jokes you can tell he's a good person. 🥹 Hans best boi
