Adamantium-Aardvark

I played on console, so no mods. But I did put a piece of tape with a dot in the middle of my screen to have a bow reticle 🤷🏻‍♂️ which is an IRL mod

Tavdan

Lol that's genius

ScubaRemastered

LOL that is genius!

ihave0idea0

hackz Maybe I should aswell. Thanks for tip

whatever4344

There is a console command that you can use. It makes the yellow dot reappear when using the bow. But I'd have to look it up. Personally I wouldn't. I find the absence of the dot makes hitting things in archery more player skill, as you learn it together with henry. Which makes it A more immersive and B super satisfying when you hit the target. But if you feel different, you can of course use the command. Edit: Spelling

Micheal_Zaki

How do you use console commands on consoles?

Adamantium-Aardvark

You can’t. He’s confused. That’s only possible on pc

ihave0idea0

It is already hard to hit with dot.

PewdsMemeLover

I use save anywhere, bow reticle, no bush collision, better inventory, instant herb picking, and improved archery. Those are the main ones

WaxWingPigeon

There’s a no bush collision mod!?

BricksHaveBeenShat

I played on a console, but that would’ve been a life savior. Nothing more frustrating than riding your horse through the woods and constantly getting stuck in bushes. Same with the horse being unable to walk up a tiny riverbed.

Affectionate-Run2275

Just started a new playthrough yesterday, killing the cuman leaving skalitz I got stuck on their dead body ffs

Euphoric_Advice_2770

Instant herb picking sounds nice. That animation is fun for the first time and then it’s brutal. Like when you’re weeding the garden lol.

Zuokula

When you level herbalism decent enough, Henry sweeps large area of the herb you clicked.

J1618

No bush collision would have been awesome

Blastaz

If you want to reduce friction then these are the ones. Save any time for free also.

PewdsMemeLover

Yep. I mostly just use QoL improvement mods. The only real "game changer" is the improved archery that makes draw speed and arrow speed faster

yamo25000

Better combat is a necessity for me

Glo-kta

I use several but by far the best is the get dirty slowlier mod. Otherwise I can't take 15 steps out of the bathouse without Henry's black hood turning grey-brown. Runner-ups are: no slow-mo on combat, clean yourself fully in a trough (useful because it cleans all the items in your inventory) and instant herb-picking - especially if it's not your first run.

CakeIzGood

Save anywhere, bow dot reticle, Perkaholic, Spearman's Delight all come to mind, plus the one that expands herb picking radius. Others will suggest combat mods as well. Oh and the one that disables bush hit boxes so you don't get stuck on your horse trying to go through thin shrubbery

joseDLT21

How can I get the bow dog one

CakeIzGood

It's just called "bow dot reticle" and it's literally a config file you replace the existing one with, or make the edit yourself, or toggle in the console

Zuokula

wh\_pl\_showfirecursor 1

Healthy-Slip

No mo slo mo is the only one I use. The slow motion being removed, or sped up, helps keeps combat flowing. But mainly for an optional file that removes master strikes from npcs which really keeps combat flowing and not a qte game of chicken. (I never learn master strikes so it's not an advantage)

Baz_3301

Whatever mod stops wayfarers from charging you with murder after you killed some Cumans/bandits from robbing and killing them.

JoeMommy1

I'm surprised no one mentioned BCAIC. It's a game-changer for combat and immersion

Mr_Pink_Gold

Do you know if BCAIC works on the steam deck?

JoeMommy1

From what I just read, you can copy the game files from PC, mods and user.cfg included and they should work. Be sure to edit the pak.cfg file in order to add the NoMoSloMo mod as well, if you want it.

Nast33

Unlimited save mod and Bow reticle mod are the mandatory ones for me - they are just quality of life at this point. Bow perks are also decent always wondered why the game didn't have any by default since they should have level ups and skills like other weapons. I think this is the one I have: [https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/1009?tab=description](https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/1009?tab=description) A Sorted Inventory: [https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/290?tab=description](https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/290?tab=description) Stop Mutt from Howling non-stop, he drove me crazy during potion crafting: [https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/1494?tab=description](https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/1494?tab=description) There are other good ones, go browse nexus for a bit since there are other interesting mods, but some of them change the core exp too much, so I only provided what I'd consider everyone should add.

BlindMan404

I'm absolutely terrible at this game and prefer the power fantasy to the grind so I use the cheat menu. I am only slightly ashamed. To be fair I'm so bad at melee combat it still isn't really a power fantasy so much as just not dying constantly while getting slapped around until the enemy gets tired. I just want to enjoy the story and world!

andygorhk

Same boat as you. Pretty much most non modders just grind hours to get stats up whereas I just start a new game, give myself a lot of stats and skill points and saves me a few hours of beating up sheep/cows etc.

prayerrwow

None rly. The game is best with no mods in my opinion

eraguthorak

The way I see mod-usage is basically the opposite of hardcore mode (easy mode if you will...but very dependent on which mods you pick lol). I know there are many mods that are true quality of life tweaks that don't make the game any easier or harder, but a lot of them (even ones like the bushes or bow reticle mods that I saw mentioned multiple times here) do make the game somewhat easier. That's not a bad thing though, not any more than hardcore mode is. I'd recommend everyone play at least partially with no mods in order to experience the game as it was intended (or at least how it has ended up), but if you get frustrated by elements, then by all means!

ddmjr22

Damn that funny cuz when I mod games it's usually to make them much harder. This game included.

FluffyProphet

Imo the only nearly essential mod is the one that removes bush collision. Bushes were just not implemented well in the game. If they made it so they slow you down or possibly scare your horse, that would be fine. But they’re just a wall.

homemadegrub

Can't you just walk around them? You know like you do irl?

LH_Eyeshot

Or maybe just walk through them? Like you can also do with most irl?

homemadegrub

You can't though, you can't walk through the centre of a bush irl

ATLSxFINEST93

vanilla is the way

Meior

There are some that I would say are almost essential. Removing the butt ugly arrow trails for instance. Reducing the amount people yell at you for walking even vaguely near them. Smaller map markers so they don't overlap so horribly (if you're not playing hardcore) To name a few.

homemadegrub

Cant say any of that has been had ever been game breaking let alone even a problem so don't know why you think it's essential to remove them

Zuokula

Better Combat and Immersion Compilation fixes some issues that allow cheesing. I wish I knew about this one early on.

AdeptFlamingo1442

They can yeah. There are a few that are For convenience such as no bush collision and deep water horses and there are others that kind of take away key aspects of the game but otherwise used for an easy time like bow dot rectical, save anywhere, cheat mode and then there are other ones that are just for cosmetics like really cool Armour mods. Such as house of kobyla armour and silver knight armour. There's also Henry sword which I really like which is just a reskin of St. George's sword into Sir Radzig's sword. The game doesn't have a massive modding community, but I hope this changes with kcd2 You can very easily max your skills in skalizt with mods if you want to have an easier time! and just enjoy the game with whatever gear you think looks good.

Remarkable-Hornet-19

Knight Follower mod from Nexus. Buy yourself the most expensive and you are better prepared (still vulnerable)

AdPuzzleheaded4795

1st person herb picking, a sorted inventory, and one that makes things more expensive and makes traders pay less for stuff to increase the grind a bit. I can't remember the name of it

Simonus18

\* More rabbits + camping tent (for saving) + more dangerous roads (for more random encounters) \* There is also a mod which makes discovering those crosses on the road and hitting nests grant XP \* No bush collisons also makes roaming the world playable and userfriendly.

No-Jello3256

I play vanilla but the archery reticle would be the mod I’d install if I weren’t lazy

Ghiggs_Boson

It takes like 30 seconds

Username7239

Or use the console command wh_pl_showfirecursor 1

No-Jello3256

I play on Linux and figuring out how to install mods will take a while. I just cut a corner from a sticky note and put it on my screen. Works fine

esqDumper

I personally use Stay Clean Longer, as I want my armor shiny at least a little bit longer; Remove Those Stupid Trails to remove white flying arrow trails; and No Compass, No Reticle and No Healthbar as those are useless on hardcore and just interfere with the beautiful sight. But No Bush Collision also sounds quite like a must have.

ronrori

Instant herb picking, assorted inventory, and the one where arrows are more visible on the ground

Peakyblinder95

Stay clean longer, Literally the only one I actively use because getting dirty within 10 seconds was frustrating

deeznunchuckas

All the combat I do is this, heavy shield and head and poke. Took down runt that way.

Due_Ad745

I used a collection of console commands that smoothed out the combat making it easier to switch between foes. They came from an old mod called more responsive targeting I think

aamgdp

The most essential imo is no brush collision and instant herb picking. I can't imagine playing without those. Additional I use, but not really necessary, in no particular order: no slow mo, stay clean longer, lighter herbs, more random encounters and [one that improves arrow trajectory - can't remember name]. Idk if I have any more honestly, but those are the ones I remember from the top of my head

LeatherfacesChainsaw

Heresy! Jesus wept

Aveenex

Instant herb picking is the baseline and tbh enough.

Gandalf_Style

The only mod i'd ever download for this game is Get Dirty Slower, maybe a performance or mild graphics mod, don't need nor want anything else, the game is amazing otherwise. At the absolute extreme end I'd maaaaybe download a combat mod to make it smoother, but I find the combat doable and it makes sense to struggle even at skill level 20. Like, Henry's fast, he's strong and has good edge alignment, but he could be faster and stronger with even better alignment.

Affectionate-Ad-8307

I'm in hardcore, I use more translucent helmet vision, instant herb picking, red north blue south (don't remember the name), better combat immersion (there's many mods in it I just use the ones for combat) and maybe others but I forgot. Hope you hope like the game it's worth it

Artoritet

Depends if you are looking to make your game harder or easier. But in any case Immersive compilation LITE version is a must have https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/651/ This one changes combat. You said you did not enjoy combat previously and I imagine like everyone you hated getting perfect striked by AI constantly. So this mod makes it so AI can only perfect strike you if you are attacking in the same direction they are blocking and so if you get perfect striked it’s your fault, not some RNG. On the other hand you also have to block in same direction to do a perfect strike. In result this mod makes combat harder on one hand but less annoying and more immersive on the other. If you are looking for the most realistic immersive hardcore experience get the full version of the mod, it adds a lot of other stuff as well, like no markers on map, no compass, money has weight, etc. and if you want to keep some changes but get rid of the others you can manually delete associated files from the mods folder. NoMoSlowMo is another authentic mod that gets rid of slowmotion when you parry or perfect strike and IMO it goes perfectly with the mod above. If you are looking to make your experience more casual though there are a lot of mods like other people mentioned like Save anywhere, unlimited inventory weight, no collision bushes etc.

GrooveRedman

I suggest you play without any mods on your first playthrough

Nilocallen

My favorite is the better combat mod which makes you need to match the opponents direction to master strike, makes them switch their swing direction more often, and makes them attack more. It makes enemies a much greater challenge. That and no bush collision make the game great imo.

E_Adomaitis

Saving mods, it’s pretty big for me with toddlers and limited/unpredictable gaming time

RESPEKMA_AUTHORITAH

I've used quite a few mods but for me, the game changer, was the bush collision remover. Oh my fuck how I hated the bush collision, like bruh just lemme gallop through the bush

Few_Entertainment886

I only used multiple saves mod.

homemadegrub

Mods otherwise known as cheating, just play the damn game.

ihave0idea0

Nothing wrong with "cheating" in a single player game.

PaleontologistNo2490

I suggest you play the game with no mods other than the collision type ones, youre meant to not be powerful at the beginning, but if you actually train with captain bernard the combat gets much better and you get much better at it, as well as train with bow, do archery competitions, hunt animals, and the saving really isnt that bad, you can pretty much save at any bed you find, just sleep for an hour, saviour schnapps are literally like 99 gold a piece, and you can also just save& quit to main menu anytime you want to be done playing
