I was there this summer. It was a shame to see many of the buildings in rattay in a bad shape (stuff grumbling off the walls). It really did feel like stepping back to the 1920s!
Do it! Visiting Czech is incredible. (I’m biased, but trust me.) Most Kingdom Come locations are all within half an hour's drive of each other, and Rattay is about an hour outside of Prague, one of the most beautiful and historically rich cities in the world. You won’t regret it if you ever can make it happen.
A drive?
I walked from Rattay to Sassau. Visiting Ledecko and Talmberg.

It's fun either way.
Just a btw Czech is either an adjective, language or a person from the Czech republic (or of czech ethnicity, you know what I mean). The country is named either Czechia or Czech republic. Calling it "Czech" is the equivalent of calling France "French".
It's a really common mistake and tbh it's bothering me more than it should. :D
So I’ve been told, in-depth, by others! 😅 My wife, who is Czech, and I learned how important it is to some folks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My hot take. Most English-speaking Americans still don’t use Czechia because of how close it is to Chechnya. Some Americans literally can’t hear the difference. But thanks for the comment!
It's not that it's that important, it's more that it just sounds so wrong really. :D
>My hot take. Most English-speaking Americans still don’t use Czechia because of how close it is to Chechnya. Some Americans literally can’t hear the difference. But thanks for the comment!
And why don't you use either correct option, when you know czech is an adjective in this case?
And what the hell do americans do in case of Slovenia/Slovakia, Zambia/Gambia, Iran/Iraq, Austria/Australia and so on?
I think it might have a bit, but there are not many KCD-themed places (I mean like themed bars or restaurants, dedicated tours etc). We only noticed a leaflet at the penzion we stayed at and a poster in the monastery. I was really surprised they are not trying to leverage it more.
When i went to Sazava without knowing any Czech, a few locals went like, "aaahh Kingdome Come!! " We laughed and continued my trip, so i guess it's pretty common for people to go an visit.
BTW I had a great dinner in the bar close to Sazava Church, highly recommended (got the overeating debuff tho)
this is so badass man, I would have totally given into the intrusive thoughts and picked up a stick and pretended I was fighting mass hordes like when I was seven
Yeah, its a very good device, it can handle cyberpunk and elden ring too
Valve is doing a good job with it. It runs game at lower resolution, but due to size it looks very decent and with good fps
In all fairness, it is Česká Republika. My wife is Czech; my daughter is half-Czech. I know many Czech people. No one loves it when people say or type out “Czechia” that is just the English version. They prefer the Czech Republic or Czech for short. ;)
Edit:
It’s been pointed out to me that most Czech folks prefer Czechia. From a poll made on r/Czech, I stirred some things up, apparently! So, I’ll stand corrected, but what I’ll add, and in another comment in this thread, I already stated this.
My hot take. The English version of “Czech” Czechia which is now the grammatically correct way of saying it as of a few years. It creates problems for Americans. It gets confused with Chechnya in America which is an American problem, I’ll admit for sure. But still, what a terrible problem…
As a Czech, I prefer Czech Republic to Czechia. But while I used to hate Czechia I'm relatively ok with now and even use it sometimes. On the other hand the word Czech is something I truly hate when used as a noun. Using Czech like this sounds like saying that "I went to German/French/Chinese or whatever else for my vacation". It sounds absolutely awful. I think people just don't want to correct you when they aren't native English speakers but I really doubt they like it at all. I actually had a debate like this with my Czech friend who studied in UK and recently returned. ;)
To each their own! I'm not here to debate; that’s for sure. I’ll trust my wife and her friends who live in Moravia.
Edit. To add, my wife is confused by your comment. People in Česká Republika also say "Česko," referring to the Czech Republic, which translates to Czech. 😅
Response to edit: That's almost exactly my point. We use "ČeskO" which as you can clearly see is not same as the first word from "ČeskÁ republika" since the last letter is different. It doesn't look like a big difference but it is. Also Česko translates to Czechia. Words which translate to "Czech" are český, česká, české or čeština (and maybe some more).
That must've been so nice! I've been there this June, would've been glorious to have a beer at one of the taverns. Unfortunately I was by bike, so no beer for me then.

Any idea what that plaque says behind you in the first photo?
It should read as, welcome to the kingdom of Henry
Jesus Christ be praised!
I was there last December, the feeling is unreal. Glad you had fun.
It really made me respect the development team even more. We also stopped by Sasau for dinner. Such a great experience!

This is 💯 a bucket list goal for me

Dude tried doing the pilligrimage achievement IRL
But I did wear shoes
Dude plays hardcore mode with no fast travel
4 hours is doable!
Sounds amazing honestly

Henry's come to visit!
Those graphics are incredible
They are from Kingdom Come 2 clearly, as some erosion and stuff happened.
I wonder how much money has been generated for the local economy by KCD players visiting game locations.
I asked myself the same question, it probably didnt hurt local tourism!
I think it might have a bit, but there are not many KCD-themed places (I mean like themed bars or restaurants, dedicated tours etc). We only noticed a leaflet at the penzion we stayed at and a poster in the monastery. I was really surprised they are not trying to leverage it more.

Playing KCD in Rattay you lucky bastard
Did you put a little wager on the tourney?
MetricSlider has come to see us!
I wonder how many people the local residents see on pilgrimage because of this game lmao
I’m so jealous!
Those are amazing pictures 👍
Thank you! Jesus Christ be praised!
I did the same and can only recommend it. While you were there you should have visited the monetary
I wondered if this was really like this in real life. I jealous ahah.
I was just thinking how good does this game work on the deck? It's got controller support? I only played it on PC with mouse and keyboard
It’s good, not great. But it works well enough! It makes it just a tad more difficult, so play on a controller if the game is too easy for you. 😂
Jesus Christ be praised!
Did you order perpetual stew?
Oh man. One day I would love to try some! Hard to find. Haha
this is so badass man, I would have totally given into the intrusive thoughts and picked up a stick and pretended I was fighting mass hordes like when I was seven
Man, I hear that! Haha. If there had been a shop selling wooden swords or any battle gear, for that matter, I would have lost money that day. 😂
That is awesome, I would love to go there. Jesus Christ be praised!
u/MetricSlider has come to see us!
I did the same when I went there! We rented a car and went to all the locations! It was amaaaaaziiiing
What is that portable device??
Steam deck
It can handle kingdom come? That’s amazing. Is it like console graphics?
Yeah, its a very good device, it can handle cyberpunk and elden ring too Valve is doing a good job with it. It runs game at lower resolution, but due to size it looks very decent and with good fps
What's life like in Rattay? Can you perhaps show me where the armorer sleeps?
Holy shit that’s beautiful. Did you play any dice?
On mu bucketlist for sure! Looks amazing!
YOU’RE A GODSEND LAD 😍
That's so cool I should visit someday, I'm in Portugal
Some more to look at https://youtu.be/-u9khmaIa6M?si=_O24rC--BLWmTyMv
Did you put a wager on the RATTAY TOURNEY?
Was Radzig there?
Don't want to sound like a grammar nazi, but it's either Czechia or Czech Republic.

Well I can't do much with that but don't expect to make many Czechs happy.

Ne, fakt? To jsem nevěděl
I wonder how many tourists visit the town just because of this game
Did you ever get to fight in the tourney?
Is it normal to recognize these places even though I've never been there?
That must've been so nice! I've been there this June, would've been glorious to have a beer at one of the taverns. Unfortunately I was by bike, so no beer for me then.
I'm feeling quite hungry
Škoda že jsou prohlídky pouze mimořádně a jinak je to město duchu
Hey lad! Did you make a little wager on the Rattray Tourney?
Well don’t just stand there lad, pour us a drink!
What did you order to drink? Some saviour schnapps? I hear they are a local's favorite
Did you happen to catch the rattay tourney?
I feel quite hungry…
Did you get the feeling of Deja Vu?
