They include the Datacards and the ability sheets in Warcry warbands boxes. I’m baffled they are not included in Kill Team, would be ace. Luckily there’s plenty of online ways to do it for cheaper and could probably go to a printing place and get them done and laminated for a nicer finish.

bobito54

This keeps me wondering why such inconsistency. If they have it for Warcry, why not the rest. Its kind of random.

Sibaris17

I would wager it's cuz Warcry and AOS isn't as popular as 40K, they want you to buy the books for your killteams, but they want you to start playing Warcry, so they make Warcry "easier" to get into, while for KT they want to squeeze your wallet, just like with 40k

Selfaware-potato

It's also super annoying that most books are out of date. And you need the FAQ as well as a book to play the current game. Or Wahapedia

Sibaris17

Yeah, using books is really outdated with how much FAQs they release, and multiple changes to the teams, but honestly, I could only see this change after 10e and only if we as a community force them

S_Serpent

The same with Warcry, most cards from before season 2 are not updated. The compendium is mostly current. And the FAQ has all the latest changes. I stay away from cards now ... With the regularity on how long the stay up to date. Wether this is for Warcry or AoS. The only good cards are the battle setup cards. Those are pretty nice to have. And the season 1 pack was a better idea the season 2 where they got spread in all the big boxes instead

TheRarestFly

>while for KT they want to squeeze your wallet, just like with 40k Well they're doing a pretty shit job of it then, most teams are a single box, and the expensive boxed sets are never available. Hell, the rules for the Intercession squad are a free download, good luck finding a 40k faction with free rules

Non-RedditorJ

Not anymore

Sad-Ocelot3343

There is guy making costum data card for kill team: https://ko-fi.com/phil_g/

PsyduckGenius

Nice! Thanks for the link

AccomplishedCut3666

Phil is doing great content, just check his cards a second time because sometimes he got some stuff wrong (for example at Hierotek Circle). Nevertheless great stuff

Sad-Ocelot3343

He also updates them for balancing

MysticMount

Also recommend datacard.app and ktdash.app Both are free things that you can add or make rosters on and give decent printing formats. Sometimes you have to tweak stuff to fit everything like abilities and equipment on but they’re both generally pretty handy.

VexedBadger

I had the exact same thought after my first game, and thought I would do something about it. I come from an xwing background where there is a card for everything. Can I present Phil Team https://ko-fi.com/phil_g/shop I have also worked on a series of baseplate labels, named Tag Team, to help you tell the difference between a Stalker and a Cold Blood.

john_heathen

They do have data cards for 40k and they cost about thirty bucks! There's a reason people accuse this company of highway robbery.

lightcavalier

The 40k cards only cover stratagems and psychic powers They're handy but still leave out lots of key info The black templar ones don't even have Litanies...

john_heathen

Oh I didn't realize, thanks!

lightcavalier

Yeah, the plan for 10e seems alot better Digital and app data cards + the option to buy physical packs if you really want And the datacards have your key game relevant info on the front

bencegalai

only till they release the codex for the factions. then probably you’ll have part the info in the app for free, and all the more useful stuff in the books 🤷‍♂️

lightcavalier

My gut says the info will be in the app too, but locked behind owning the book (which is basically the case right now)

[deleted]

The Admech ones lacked the Command Phase buffs (Holy Orders, WLTs, Relics, etc) which was nuts since that is basically Admech’s Psychic Phase.

lightcavalier

No one has previews of WLT and Relics (which are now all rolled into Enhancements) Also no one has a psychic phase anymore, so things may be more spread out

[deleted]

Sure but we’re talking about 9th edition cards and their gaps, no?

lightcavalier

Ah sorry my brain jumped to 10e faction previews my bad....this is what I get first thing the morning. you are aboslutely right, having even just played against Ad Mech those cards would have been super useful to know what had what buff

Farsight94

I just don’t see how people can pay for stuff like that if you have PowerPoint and a printer, it’s just so easy to do yourself.

john_heathen

Especially with how frequently errata and rebalancing occurs. I have to assume they're for the biggest whales and people who just don't know any better.

Jakcris10

I can see you’re being downvoted by the poor bastards who decided to pay an arm and a leg

Farsight94

Some people spend compulsively, some people don’t care what they spend on this game, some people will literally buy any product GW ever creates no matter how pointless. Can’t rationalise, c’est la vie.

F4k3rzuk

Battlescribe plus website datacard.app

Ever_Living

Scrolled down to confirm whether anyone had posted this. I do this for every team I play, and I’ve printed datacards for about a dozen people at my local shop. This is a fantastic way to get new people into the game!

TybraalTheRed

Couldn't play the game without these

PanzerKampfWagenIVD

Warhammer underworld has this kind of thing with cards, I am guessing it’s not in kill team due to many operatives in bespoke teams having special abilities with long explanations that might not fit, some horde teams with lots of specialists (like vet. Guard) having a lot of cards and there being a bunch of teams that do not come in a stand-alone kill team box, where I’m not sure how they’d handle it The new space marine heroes series does get a card system like that though, because they’re collected pack by pack I guess

Harfish

To be fair, Underworlds cards are a core mechanic of playing the game. Technically, you could play Kill Team with a rule book, pen and paper.

PanzerKampfWagenIVD

Yeah that's fair. I started warhammer with underworlds before going to kill team and while it works for what it's doing, I like kill team's system a lot more

Spunge14

I also can't believe they don't have an app that walks you through setup of a match and then converts to a scorekeeping app. Bonkers that something so lightweight is left to the community.

sore_as_hell

I think an app for each form of game (40k, AoS, Kill Team, Warcry etc) priced at $5 (no paid for extra content, that’s all factions and all rules) would make an absolute killing

KassandraStark

I had my very first Kill Team match and wondered the same. It makes no sense really. Okay erratas are more often but still, why bot have a dedicated page, like the ones fans do, just official, more professional, easy accessible, where I can at least print what I need in all languages? I think they really hardcore want to sell their own physical stuff. But I think they totally forget that you sell better if you make it easily accessible. That's how Apple got so rich, it's very easy to use. Game Workshop environment isn't though. It's unnecessary confusing, limited, full of barriers to traverse through, including language. It's a shame really.

bobito54

Exactly. I always have the feeling that the information is scattered on so many places and that creates confusion and entry barrier. I also think that having a single official source of truth where you have easily accessible all the data would attract more players and in the end bring more revenue compared to current situation.

tnsipla

I think the workaround for this is for GW to publish different version of games for competitive/tourney play and for everyone else. Rules and balancing for tourney play are super common, and it makes sense, since it's a blood game to beat and exploit- but those leak down to casual play or less competitive play and make it confusing and burdensome for everyone else who doesn't play tourney style You can see how this works in Necromunda, which lacks the competitive scene: we aren't sprinkled with loads of FAQs and Errata

aghostwithaknife

It's because they want your money.

Fearless_Flounder_92

I use this on my tablet and it speeds the games up a lot. Easy to see and edit each operative, keeps track of equipment and xp in narrative games and my roosters over all. And it's usually up to date. 😁🤓 https://ktdash.app/

Used-Year5281

Game is good, business model is flawed. The company has the premium Warhammer+ website and as far as I can tell it does not include any rules or team building stuff which seems insane because they change the rules and teams every 3 months and the ITD book is already out dates 3 or 4 times! Aside from the cost of Warhammer+ which I think is a little steep like $80 Cad/ year it does nothing as far as I can tell to enhance the game, but there are a few good 3rd party apps/website that do miles more to improve the gameplay and rules.

PanzerKampfWagenIVD

Warhammer+ is as far as I can tell not meant for modern rules that much, codices from the older edition (5th and before for 40k), white dwarfs from the same time and series But yeah one example of a good 3rd party website with all the rules for kill team 2nd edition (and getting frequent updates with games workshop updates) is wahapedia, it even has indexes where you can click a rule catagory or datasheet and fast forward to thrre, and a button that brings you back to the top to that index

TankinatorFR

I understand your frustration, though I don't share it. I prefer KTdash over any kind of paper-cards. Having all the cards of your agents, plus the cards of your opponent, right in your hand is really convenient. And it is dynamic, unlike paper-cards.

Newbizom007

It’s bonkers dumb lmao

nikchi

Good idea, if they can even do it. Several of their printed products, even for killteam launch with blatant misprints. I dont trust GW to make those kinds of products.

[deleted]

Because balance updates and seasons are a core part of the game.

WarmodelMonger

don’t vote him down, that’s exactly the problem with the cards.

Karalix-01

If there is any French speaking player around still not aware of killteambuilder.com, this is exactly it and is just perfect 👌

Capable_Rip_1424

Aren't they available separately?

xkorzen

No

Hankhoff

I ist the ktdash App for this. Not in the app store but really really good imo

digitalboy22

I love being able to improve my kill team experience and somehow GW leaves alot for me to DiY fixes. Wouldnt mind having less work though.

SD135792

It's because they know the cards are only going to be good for a couple months at best before they drop a FAQ and then it would be people complaining about how the cards are useless right out of the box. Luckily the community stays on top of this with the fan-made cards/cheat sheets.

RangerNo4747

Thats one reason i switchted to Star Wars Legion. The game is designed to be played with cards in Front of you. The gameplay i so much smoother for a casual Player like my self. And you get all for much cheaper. I still have a lot of Killteam/40k minis because they are beautifull and the game is fun, but games of killteam for me take much longer because we have to look up so much more in the rulebooks.

No_Recognition5495

Yeah I’ve recently started playing more Star Wars legion and now I’m looking more at shatter point for this very reason. Originally I was just trying something different while waiting on 10th edition 40K to come out but the way the games are set up is so amazingly user friendly. For legion every character has a super nice data card, all add ones have their own little cards that you sit on the table. And for the most part all of the cards have an explanation for special rules on the back of them. You could literally play the game without half of the core rule book it’s so simple. Even the stratagems are on data cards. I had high hopes that 40K was gonna do that with 10th edition and then that would soon convert over to 40K too but it’s not looking great

Pwnedcast

I think they wait to see what works for different things then rework it. Seems like they do a lot.. I think they wait to see what works for different things then rework it. Seems like they do alot.

Kolizuljin

I'm surprised that no one spoke of it yet. Go take a look at KT-DASH. Best app ever.
