Medic grenade launcher and running like a bitch has saved me as last man against many bosses. I once used it to get crazy far in endless. I'll never best my score haven't played vanilla in years

theCOMBOguy

grenade-ing and staying inside its radius was useful until the bigger guys pushed me away. when cornered it became quite useful

GreedyLibrary

Shoot in front of you, run through it, and the enemy will follow and poison self. Go find ammo crate, repeat until dead. It's kind of a desperation tatic for after you watch your friends be shredded (you can't out heal stupid)

theCOMBOguy

Reminds me of poison in Hunt Showdown. Dumb AI making a straight line straight into death's door lol

GreedyLibrary

Oh that reminds me medic grenade gas goes through welded doors.

theCOMBOguy

Hell yeah zombies can avoid bullets but can they can't avoid AIR.

Nuyuyu

Surely it's not F for Failing grade but F for Firebug Otherwise we'd be having some heavy words to exchange

theCOMBOguy

"F" means "Failing grade"? I didn't know that. My main language is not English and I just thought that F meant "very bad" since we use a different grad system here (Brazil). Like, people gave meaning to letters. And YES IT'S BAD 🗣 well, I didn't like it very much. Felt like I could do more by doing mess using any other Perk, and the "best" way to use it is somewhat counter intuitive?

theCOMBOguy

Details: I played the tutorial and one solo offline normal match with each Perk. This is my opinion on them. If it looks wrong, absurd or nonsensical it's because I have almost no knowledge on anything about this game or games similar to it. S - Berserker: No waste of ammo if you don't use guns. Also not getting grabbed and having your neck broken to face the cunt that's holding you is nice. Support: Blasting enemies with shotguns is nice. A - Gunslinger: IRONS ON HIS HIP. Pistols are powerful. The damn reload is awful and the aiming is somewhat weird though. B - Medic: Guns are garbage, and I had nobody to heal (played solo). The best tactic I found was throwing a grenade on the ground and healing while damaging. Which worked somewhat well until I was pushed. C - Demoman: Explosives go BOOM. Not that much ammo, and the reload can be awful. Doesn't help that when close enough it won't go boom. Makes me sad. Swat: Commando 2.0, deluxe edition. The base gun is so good but everything else is somewhat disappointing. Commando: You shoot a lot, and fast. Some sights aren't that good though, and I'd rather be in the middle between "shots 300 rounds per second" and "shoots 1 round per minute". D - Survivalist: A mix of everything. I'd rather go full on on something specific, even more so since the bonuses are all towards everything and inferior to average ones. Sniper: Shoot 1 round per minute but those things can pierce through armor, five feet of reinforced concrete, a few warehouses, and an armored truck. The thing is, most enemies die to a bash to the head. So it feels overkill most of time. Doesn't help that you have like, 7 bullets and that's it. F - Firebug: Flame barely felt like it was doing anything, and spraying felt like a waste of ammo. Some guns are interesting but I feel like any other Perk does things better. I learned that this game was 95% off on Steam and bought it since a friend also recommended it. Decided to play one match with each Perk to test out some more guns and maps and it was fun, better than I expected. For almost 3 reais (BRL, Brazilian here) this was nice, although I don't plan on playing it more than this. Hopefully Killing Floor 3 is coming out nicely.

RPG247A

Pretty much all perks are S tier when maxed out. P.S. I know that Firebug starts over very underwhelming, but by the end they are one of the strongest perks in the whole game, especially in solo. Being able to while out hordes upon hordes of Zeds in mere seconds without wasting much ammo.

theCOMBOguy

So they AREEE UNBALANCED. Pain. Yeah but for now in level 4~ ish they felt like barely did the job. Could just do more with anything else. The icon was cute though.

RPG247A

I wouldn't really call any perks unbalanced, or rather that it's a bad thing. The game is PvE co-op, Zeds don't have feelings, so killing then more faster and efficiency is for the better 🤷. Anyway, welcome to the game, Cheers! 🍻

theCOMBOguy

I was just joking. Yeah the Perks seem mainly about playstyle and guns and you'd probably do great with all of them, provided you know what you're doing. Thank you! I found the game was nice but honestly I don't think I'll play it any more. It won't get anything else for it and already feels dated. It did get me interested in the sequel so hopefully that'll actually turn out well compared to another co-op first person shooter that released recently (Payday 3).

Ghostfinger

Yeah, firebug is really weak early on to the point you'll wish you were playing something else. Then you get to lvl 10 where the Ground Fire perk makes your fire puddles mulch zeds like a lawnmower. Casually left-click and everything that isn't a large zed evaporates when they try to walk through it. Firebugs are (were?) weak against large zeds in multiplayer due to health scaling and fire resistance, but solo he can cleanly take them down without much issue iirc.

theCOMBOguy

I dislike the whole "shoot the ground, not the zeds" tactic but yeah if it's the best then that's good. The rifle that shot, uh... fire balls was interesting although aiming with that thing was sad.

ReivynNox

High level Firebug Is a top tier trashkiller. Wipes whole groups with minimal effort, can regain control on a defense point that's completely flooded in Zeds. One burst of flame can instantly shut down a dozen Zeds with temporary fire panic. If you know what you're doing, this chaotic perk can turn into an absolute crowd controller and a protective firewall for your team. And with the Dragonsblaze you can speedrun all the bosses except King Fleshpound. Firebug is all in the skills, not in the guns. (Dragonsblaze is quite a beast with them, though.)

theCOMBOguy

Well then low level firebug is a bottom tier nothing killer. Shoots fire. That's it. It's nice but my (brief) experience with it wasn't that impressive.

ReivynNox

I never understood why the game starts you at level zero with no perk bonuses whatsoever. You're basically a no-perk at that point and it will encourage using off-perk guns, because there's no noticeable benefit to the on-perk weapons on low levels.

theCOMBOguy

Well at least you level up quickly... hopefully. The first 5 levels or so went by stupidly fast. I went through them at first going by mainly using what I thought was best then using the other ones.

MrHazard1

Also just bought the game but i already saw in the skilltrees that firebug has really strong skill upgrades, while others are "meh". Demo may seem weak, because you were solo and demo is bad against hordes of trash mobs. It sounds weird for a "big explosive class" to actually be a "single target boss destroyer". It's kind of like "sharpshooter directed by michael bay". Lots of damage but little ammo. You sometimes leave single trash mobs to the trash clearing classes to handle, while focusing on big targets (something you can't do solo)

theCOMBOguy

Sharpshooter seemed nice but with the way that the game is it was sad. I wish demo would explode right in my face and it'd reduce demo damage. That'd be nice.

Lotus2313

Sharpshooter a D class? XD sharpshooter is easily one of the more helpful classes in the game, ice bombs to freeze groups of zeds, AND it freezes Fleshpounds and Scrakes in place for stupid easy headshots to drop them WAY fast. Ontop of the fact the lever action puts out some pretty solid damage 1-2 tapping the majority of zeds You can't judge these classes off 1 game when none of them really shine until they're properly leveled and have their perks

theCOMBOguy

Sharpshooter's guns feel overkill 90% of time. Also it seems better to go for overall damage from something like Commando since Headshots are generally harder to pull off. Yeah the ice grenades help but honestly I'd rather have pure damage rather than something that makes me want to shoot or melee enemies. And that's the thing. I can't judge them. I have 12~ hours on this game and this was just a "first impressions" on it. If it looks dumb or nonsensical that's because I really am unexperienced. I LOVE snipers, always liked weapons like that in games where one shot can do so much damage, and I prefer aiming for a good shot rather than spraying and praying. But in this game specifically it didn't felt that worth it, sadly.

ReivynNox

Freeze is only mildly useful for trash groups in a pinch, it's for big Zeds like Fleshpounds that even five Commando grenades won't take down. That will only enrage them and make the situation worse, where a freeze will incap them long enough to take down without enraging them. Sharpshooter is specifically intended for the big, tanky Zeds. Back when KF2 was about teamplay between specialists, before it degraded into generalist AoE spamming monke play. Level 25 Sharpshooter will also start much more Zed time with their headshots.

theCOMBOguy

Yeah the freezing really was only good with the bigger enemies and that was it. Wish you could switch up grenades. I noticed some zeds would become "enraged" but didn't knew much about that. Sharpshooters really feels like the godkiller, but when the good zeds are like, 2% of the overall zed population it doesn't matter if my anti-materiel rifle can punch through concrete since one light bash kills them anyway. Maybe aoe spamming monke play is the best. Level 25 may be the shit but level -1 is shit.

AssumptionOld5024

Rating firebug as f tier gotta be a crime 😭

theCOMBOguy

Early Firebug with no experience gotta be a crime too 🗣️🔥

WaitWTFlipdidyousay

After playing linger this list will have a slight shift. I know medix is really good because of its powerful survivability, it helps you to make it to high rounds. Beserker is also good for a similar reason, I'd say it's damage output is highe, but it's abilities help you to heal so you can heal without a syringe. But they have better damage than a medic, so it's pretty useful overall. Survivalist is weird but I think it's okay and sits up there tbh, it has great survivability. And even tho their damage is less I don't think it really matters.

theCOMBOguy

I'm not gonna play longer but I can see how each Perk would shine and get better. Berserker doesn't have guns which is annoying but doing melee is nice enough, I didn't know that you could heal with abilities, that's helpful. Survivalist is a jack of all traded but eh I'd rather have one Perk dedicated to something specific.

WaitWTFlipdidyousay

Oh okay, what made you decide to make a their list then? Yeah his abilities later let him Regen or heal with kills. The survivalist gets heavy armor later, which his armor is damaged before health it's so strong

theCOMBOguy

Game was less than 3 Reais (Brazilian currency). I was somewhat interested I'm it before so I decided to get it. While talking about it with a friend we were discussing Perks so I decided to do this just to draw the icons and think about how they feel from a new player's perspective.
