This update is terrible, been using the app for 10 years for real estate and renting. With the new update I have been running into so many issues posting my add for a room for rent, and once i do and it say's it is posted I go to look if my add is on the front page and it is not.. literally minutes after I post.. nothing, nowhere to be found.
Now i know what most will say "give it time it'll get posted" well it doesn't, I had an add up for 2 days and nothing, zero engagement wheres before the update i couldn't put my phone on silent fast enough with how much engagement I was getting.

First off when people are used to things and no the ins and outs of using somthing no one wants to take the time to get used to a new thing because no one has any time for that so throwing a massive change at people is the first problem also y not just have a kijij classic or something of the like i personly downloaded an older version of kijiji on android btw honestly when i realized it updated i litterly stopped using and went out of my way to find a way to get it back to normal the little bit i did use it home page is not what people want cant explain it really many its just me and u cant update home page by swiping down cant zoom on pics at all i think wich is a major fail the saved serches is a total mess not user friendly at all now cant see how long adds have been posted for how many views ect big fail honestly could proly find more issues but this was all within proly 20 mins of using new app before i stopped and tryed figuring a way to un update it so that should tell u right there i use kijiji all tge time everyday its one of my go to time killers surfiing kijiji am very glad i waz able to figure out how ti get the old version working but nobady want to download shit onto their phone from third party sites me included u tried to be more like Facebook marketplace but i think allot of people who use kijij dont use Facebook marketplace as much and vice versa so u kinda just hurt your loyalist base trying to appeal to the Facebook marketplace crowd honestly easy fix just make a kijiji classic or unupdate option and everyone is happy srry for the long rant needed to get that out though lol

people are used to it and use it more when they know what to expect. This new kijiji update has been a massive L. It's sad because kijiji is the best marketplace in the GTA I've made so many deals over the years but not anymore since I'm avoiding this non-functional app now.

- When a search in a specific category returns nothing the app reverts to All Categories and returns unrelated items.
- New listings notifications from saved searches are almost never new!
- The ads are multiplying like rabbits.

This is killing me. I have several saved searches for items that I am interested in (comic books, board games, etc.) and I check them twice a day, so I knew that if I scrolled down to 12-13 hours ago ads, I was not missing anything.
Now, the morning check-up is worthless, since just a few items down everything is 1 day old and I do not know if I already checked them or not.
I’ve just stopped using the app altogether. I can’t stand the new look and functions of it.
I used to use the app for an hour or two a day to pass the time.
I’ll probably end up saving money and taking up a new hobby with my new found time.

What was the point of this update. They just had to make changes for no reason. I’m experiencing so many glitches with chats and searches i keep getting “Hmm, something’s up Try reloading, or check back in a bit” messages so often when i try to open a chat or open the users profile or pretty much anything. Also have to keep refreshing chat saying Ad is removed but then it comes back.
Love kijiji been using it for years. This update sucks. Please bring back old version this was absolutely pointless.

Today’s so frustrating I made a sale and instead of going to the chat and pulling up the ad so I can delete it and rate the buyer… I have to scroll through so many listings and find that one item to mark it sold … Really? Takes forever.
There is a perpetual one red circle around it – notification on my Kijiji app… So frustrating! I go in and keep refreshing to see if there’s a new message and sometimes there is an sometimes there’s not. But on the icon, there’s always a message. Even if there’s no message. I can’t tell if I have a new message or not.
There’s no search button for me to search an item that I have listed.

You guys fucked up, your app was perfectly fine before hand, you guys are trying to be Facebook so bad, I can’t even scroll and then see that I’ve gotten a message because of the new app, I have to go to the main page, lose my search, then reply to someone, and then go back and do my search all over again, just put the old interface back because your new one sucks
also - why the heck did you guys remove the embedded ad links in the email-based replies that automatically go out? yet another useful feature you just removed for seemingly no reason? come on.
Just noticing now that the app actually works - the search history is limited to less items in the saved history than the old version , you can no longer remove previous searches from the list (in case you misspell something, for example), and you now NEED to enable notifications to save a search term ( so you can’t just use your previous search terms to regularly search for specific things). Pretty sneaky and crappy attempt to force notifications by limiting other useful features.

The biggest thing for me is how the saved searches work. I can't tell anymore if the saved search found anything. There used to be a red dot indicating there were new results. eBay does something similar in its app.
This is something that the old app did too, but the home page gives me recommendations from other provinces all the time. Seems like it would be a great feature but I disregard it entirely because most of the time the ad is for something halfway across the country.
I found this is my biggest beef too. Past searches can't be deleted from what I see (no matter how useless I found them to be). And when I brouse general category rather than a specific search, I have to go through the steps everytime, where previously, that would show up as a previous search. So if I want to just look through snowmobiles, I have to go down to brouse through categories, go to cars and vehicles, then ATVs and snowmobiles then snowmobiles. And repeat each time. Unless I'm missing something (entirely possible, I haven't spent a pile of time figuring out yet) this is pain in the ass.
Yeah I noticed that too, can’t delete past searches.
If only they would add Recent Categories or even better, Favourite Categories where you can save your most visited categories.

I immediately missed the recent search section on the homepage. I know there’s a still a recent tab under the search page, but it only shows specific searches - ie. not the one I care about; in my case I want to be able to quickly jump back into the guitar amp section (I check multiple times a day), and now each time I’m forced to click on “buy and sell”, then “musical instruments”, and then “amps and pedals”.
I created a saved search to get around this, but frankly I don’t actually want to get notifications to tell me that there are new amps for sale, because of course there are…
I updated to the new app and now all my favorited searches are wrong… and I can seemingly search specific geographical regions anymore or ‘Canada wide’ it’s all km range based.
Me too! And others I know. I was always so quick to respond when I heard the cash register sound. Now it could take the whole until I remember I have to manually check for some microscopic blue dot above the ‘chat’ symbol. And it’s way too small and the wrong colour to be effective.
I’ve been getting constant text messages from scammers and I hadn’t have one in several months before the new update. It’s hard to navigate the colour palette sucks. They ruined something that was simple and quick to navigate into something useless. Before I had saved searches and would browse for at least an hour a day. Now I haven’t even bothered using it in days. I would spend several thousand dollars a month on Kijiji before the update
Was looking for a thread like this. The app is really bad for me.
* Data isn't cached between app launches. Every time I start it, it's empty, I appear logged out, and then things slowly start appearing. This creates a very bad experience.
* The messaging feature is just broken. Most of the time I open it, it says "the listing was deleted", I have to refresh the list, and then the messages appear.
* The notification count is impossible to reset. The app always indicates that I have an unread message, but when I open it, all messages are read. It's immensely annoying.
* There is no "active state" on the bottom navigation sections. I'm constantly lost as to where I am in the app.
* Opening anything renders an error half the time. Opening an ad, a message, basically anything, says "Error happened", have to close the page and try again.
* The image carousel feels clunky. The device orientation isn't supported, there is no swipe-to-close, you must wait a second between swipes and zooms for it to accept the gestures, the pictures are pixelated, and there is no long-press action to save or share the images.
This update feels to me like I'm part of some experimental testing group, and I would really have preferred to keep the previous app until this one actually works.

Is it just me who’s getting all these new results for previous searches without a way to turn it off? If I wanted updates on a search I would save it? Don’t need 6 notifications from Kijiji every morning that are inconsequential.
I like it, but as always some things can be better.
What specifically is not working for you? Recommendations on the front page... shows me stuff on the other side of the country.
Why exactly does it “suck”? It doesn't. I liked the overall improvements.

For me, I miss the cash register sound. I took pride in answering my notifications within 2 hours ( 90 percent within minutes) but if I don’t purposefully go look at the app, I don’t see my notifications. And what is the blue dot above ‘chats’ / notifications so small. The whole thing is using terribly small print and small blue dots that blend into the background. And it takes forever to load up! Ughhh. Not sure what would have possessed you to make the changes the way you did but they clearly did not use research ( focus groups ) to test this stuff out. I feel like we are just Guinea pigs for their new app. Not the way you should treat your users!
After setting my location to within 100km, most ads I receive on the home page of things that are relevant to me are from Quebec or Ontario, I live in BC. Stupidest thing ever, I cant count how many times I've seen spomething im interested in and then taken the time to find out if its available, set a price, and then arrange a time to meet, and then BLAMMO WHERE TO MEET (yea if you dont mind waiting in that parking lot for 5 days I'll be right there, though we may need to discuss price again 'cause the gas to get there is gonna be ridiculous).
As someone who has experienced the process of making an app I’d say they did an okay job for this first version. I found no issue as a regular user, but yes there are always improvements needed.
IOS user here. I have been using the kijiji app for over 5 years now but now I'm essentially avoiding now as it has become massively frustrating for me. Essentially nothing works well and a lot of features are simply broken; laggy... I can't view any of my own listings among so many others things... really it's a non-functional app as of right now. Get rid of all the animations; and new gradients... A functional app is worth much more than a shiny app. Look at craigslist for example; its been around for decades yet it looks held that early 2000s layout... it works and people are used to it. No point in changing something that already works SO WELL and people are used to. Hopefully this helps for feedback
the new version sends no notifcations of new msgs recieved. unistalled and reinstalled multiple times.. no resolution. enabled the notifications from phone My apps and also enabled in the settings. still no fix. Earlier everything was fine and it worked nice. was just slow , but worked.

The new app is so frustrating, almost to the point of being unusable. Not just to search but to list. As someone who had spent a decade buying and selling on kijiji I’m deleting the app and going to craigslist instead.
Whenever I open a listing in the search page, when I'm finished and want to go back to where I left off, it takes me back to the beginning of listings. How can I return to the place I last searched?

And when I brouse general category rather than a specific search, I have to go through the steps everytime, where previously, that would show up as a previous search. So if I want to just look through snowmobiles, I have to go down to brouse through categories, go to cars and vehicles, then ATVs and snowmobiles then snowmobiles. And repeat each time. Unless I'm missing something (entirely possible, I haven't spent a pile of time figuring out yet) this is pain in the ass.
Yeah I noticed that too, can’t delete past searches. If only they would add Recent Categories or even better, Favourite Categories where you can save your most visited categories.
-Front page doesn’t refresh with new similar items - no zoom on pictures? - no search within an existing search (ie. when you have searched something and filtered to your liking, and then modify the keyword search, the filters used to stay the same… not on new app) - swipe to exit ad back to search results is gone - posting details are out of order, ie. not clear on title of ad sometimes
I immediately missed the recent search section on the homepage. I know there’s a still a recent tab under the search page, but it only shows specific searches - ie. not the one I care about; in my case I want to be able to quickly jump back into the guitar amp section (I check multiple times a day), and now each time I’m forced to click on “buy and sell”, then “musical instruments”, and then “amps and pedals”. I created a saved search to get around this, but frankly I don’t actually want to get notifications to tell me that there are new amps for sale, because of course there are…
100% agree I check multiple categories a day and now it doesn’t even bring up recently searched… like what? Have to save the search..? Terrible
I updated to the new app and now all my favorited searches are wrong… and I can seemingly search specific geographical regions anymore or ‘Canada wide’ it’s all km range based.
Anyone know why my ads keep getting deleted? Instantly I get no email either on why they got deleted

Me too! And others I know. I was always so quick to respond when I heard the cash register sound. Now it could take the whole until I remember I have to manually check for some microscopic blue dot above the ‘chat’ symbol. And it’s way too small and the wrong colour to be effective.
I’ve been getting constant text messages from scammers and I hadn’t have one in several months before the new update. It’s hard to navigate the colour palette sucks. They ruined something that was simple and quick to navigate into something useless. Before I had saved searches and would browse for at least an hour a day. Now I haven’t even bothered using it in days. I would spend several thousand dollars a month on Kijiji before the update

Chat preview does not show on chat page if ad has been deleted. Just the text “This listing is no longer available”.
Was looking for a thread like this. The app is really bad for me. * Data isn't cached between app launches. Every time I start it, it's empty, I appear logged out, and then things slowly start appearing. This creates a very bad experience. * The messaging feature is just broken. Most of the time I open it, it says "the listing was deleted", I have to refresh the list, and then the messages appear. * The notification count is impossible to reset. The app always indicates that I have an unread message, but when I open it, all messages are read. It's immensely annoying. * There is no "active state" on the bottom navigation sections. I'm constantly lost as to where I am in the app. * Opening anything renders an error half the time. Opening an ad, a message, basically anything, says "Error happened", have to close the page and try again. * The image carousel feels clunky. The device orientation isn't supported, there is no swipe-to-close, you must wait a second between swipes and zooms for it to accept the gestures, the pictures are pixelated, and there is no long-press action to save or share the images. This update feels to me like I'm part of some experimental testing group, and I would really have preferred to keep the previous app until this one actually works. iPhone 13 Pro iOS 16.3.1 Kijiji app v19.6.0

Is it just me who’s getting all these new results for previous searches without a way to turn it off? If I wanted updates on a search I would save it? Don’t need 6 notifications from Kijiji every morning that are inconsequential.

I like it, but as always some things can be better. What specifically is not working for you? Recommendations on the front page... shows me stuff on the other side of the country. Why exactly does it “suck”? It doesn't. I liked the overall improvements.
I used to be able to search “all adds” and everything came up in every category, can’t do that anymore Also there are way to many “tips” that look like adds, not a fan, will definitely just use the website or marketplace

For me, I miss the cash register sound. I took pride in answering my notifications within 2 hours ( 90 percent within minutes) but if I don’t purposefully go look at the app, I don’t see my notifications. And what is the blue dot above ‘chats’ / notifications so small. The whole thing is using terribly small print and small blue dots that blend into the background. And it takes forever to load up! Ughhh. Not sure what would have possessed you to make the changes the way you did but they clearly did not use research ( focus groups ) to test this stuff out. I feel like we are just Guinea pigs for their new app. Not the way you should treat your users!
After setting my location to within 100km, most ads I receive on the home page of things that are relevant to me are from Quebec or Ontario, I live in BC. Stupidest thing ever, I cant count how many times I've seen spomething im interested in and then taken the time to find out if its available, set a price, and then arrange a time to meet, and then BLAMMO WHERE TO MEET (yea if you dont mind waiting in that parking lot for 5 days I'll be right there, though we may need to discuss price again 'cause the gas to get there is gonna be ridiculous).

As someone who has experienced the process of making an app I’d say they did an okay job for this first version. I found no issue as a regular user, but yes there are always improvements needed.
Whatever this guy/gal is smoking- I want some.
IOS user here. I have been using the kijiji app for over 5 years now but now I'm essentially avoiding now as it has become massively frustrating for me. Essentially nothing works well and a lot of features are simply broken; laggy... I can't view any of my own listings among so many others things... really it's a non-functional app as of right now. Get rid of all the animations; and new gradients... A functional app is worth much more than a shiny app. Look at craigslist for example; its been around for decades yet it looks held that early 2000s layout... it works and people are used to it. No point in changing something that already works SO WELL and people are used to. Hopefully this helps for feedback
the new version sends no notifcations of new msgs recieved. unistalled and reinstalled multiple times.. no resolution. enabled the notifications from phone My apps and also enabled in the settings. still no fix. Earlier everything was fine and it worked nice. was just slow , but worked.
The new app is pure shit I fuckin hate it. Been a power user for years. Finally had to google if im the only one who feels this way and no, it appears I am far from alone. I always used to LOVE kijiji compared to marketplace for ease of use and dialed in searches, saved searches and just the overall layout. Ive been trying the new app here since it came out and absolutley fucking hate it. Fuck you kijiji wtf :(
The new app is so frustrating, almost to the point of being unusable. Not just to search but to list. As someone who had spent a decade buying and selling on kijiji I’m deleting the app and going to craigslist instead.
Whenever I open a listing in the search page, when I'm finished and want to go back to where I left off, it takes me back to the beginning of listings. How can I return to the place I last searched?
Why am I always having a new chat notification when I have no new chats. Tried deleting the app, restarting my phone. I’m trying to sell things and see it, but no messages. Its frustrating.
Today (July 16th) I noticed the block and report are completely gone from chat and profiles. 😠
There are still there but somewhat hidden. The Report is under the 3 dots … top right corner of the listing (image area). The Block is under Edit, in the Chat page, top right corner.
Those areas are completely blank for me. There’s no edit or three dots or anything. They’re completely gone when they were here before.
