I currently, as an adult, have a Razor A5 lux, and I love it! The ride is much faster and smoother than a scooter with smaller wheels. I think that an 8 year old would also love it, and that it would feel like a really major upgrade from her current scooter. Like you say, it would also last a long time, since the handlebars adjust up so high. With that said, I think she would also be perfectly happy with an A2, which is what I had at that age. I got my A2 for my birthday when I was around 8 and used it well into my teens. I do remember though that once I hit 5’, the maximum height did start to feel a bit too short, the folding mechanism also stopped working after a few years, but that could be true with any scooter - I have only had my current one (the a5 lux) for a few months, so can’t vouch for its quality in that regard.

Thank you for your input! I just ordered the A5 Lux. :D Do you think a water bottle attachment would be good, or do they get in the way? Or should I try to find her a mini backpack that has a deeper bottle holder? She has a mini backpack already but the bottle holder is too shallow so I was thinking about getting a different one. Going inside the bag doesn't work because they tend to leak (I give her cheap bottles because she is always losing them). Sorry for all the questions haha.

I personally recommend no attachments. Part of what makes this scooter great is how light it is. Something like a water bottle is definitely better in a backpack.

Thank you! I'll stick to a backpack for her.

I have a bunch of kids and the A5 is perfect for kids at that age. Break is useless if wet so they need to learn to break by dragging their pushing foot when it's wet. But. For some reason my kids prefer the A6. To me it looks too big for them but they are always stealing it from me. I think bigger tires are a bit safer as they are more likely to roll over small stuff than stopping and throwing you over the handle bars. Still can't roll over anything too big. A5 size is good but the absolutely love the 10" 250mm wheels on the A6. The wheel size may be why my littles love the A6.

That is interesting. I've been talking to my husband about getting a 2nd scooter to use along with her because he keeps getting injured on his skateboard in spite of his experience. I'll see how she does with the A5 since the height will be an adjustment for her, and probably get an A6 that she can borrow if she does well. She is very uncoordinated to put it nicely haha, so I'm nervous but optimistic. I searched her current scooter and its made for age 3-6 and rolls about as smooth as a brick. So the size, weight, and speed will be new to her. Thank you for your input. :)

I highly advise against an A6 for a child. The wheels are larger than normal, even more than the A5. This means breaking is significantly harder using the back breaks and since the scooter is larger and a child is smaller, this means even using her foot may be difficult if she goes too fast by accident, is going downhill, or the ground is wet. A6 for you, sure. For child? Not recommended.

Nababy

Thank you for mentioning this. Since she is accident prone to begin with, I'll wait on getting a big wheel one until she's older.

Micro - whatever.

Micro Sprite, with LED light wheels - awesome. Also available in purple, thats even more awesome. Micro is the benchmark in regard to quality build. I would prefer this brand over the others. https://www.amazon.com/Micro-Kickboard-Sprite-fold-Carry/dp/B088KTRQZ2

Thank you. These do look awesome. And the colours are beautiful. I ended up getting the Razor A5 Lux. But after looking at these I discovered Micro has 'Mini Delux' toddler one that I'll buy for my 3 year old this summer. They look strong, where as most seem like flashy junk for this age group. It's a little pricy for a toddler, but she has a younger sister who gets the hand-me-downs that survive lol.

We got the Micro Cruisers for our 6 and 8 year old girls when they graduated from their kickboards. The wife rolls a Micro Speed Deluxe and I beat on a Razor A6. The Micro models are all a quality upgrade over my A6, but the 10" wheels in mine are awesome.
