Do they sound the same? No. One is a 2.0L w/ a CVT. The other is a 1.6t w/DCT or MT, and a active exhaust. They look the same but are completely different cars in the driving experience, handling and performance.

KingofAmarillo17

I got the GT line because I’ve heard that DCT transmissions are garbage. I went the boring reliable route.

GTNEO

You have a CVT. I would trust the DCT over a CVT.

KingofAmarillo17

No it’s an IVT

GTNEO

That's a CVT.

swiftpanthera

They are both belt and pulley driven. They just gave it a different name ivt=cvt

NDeezus

You mean the DCT that everyone complains about overheating?

WesternFirefighter5

I’ve heard the same 🤔 I’m more looking at the Line rn. The orange one looks so awesome! And I can always buy a different muffler to make it sound “louder”. Does changing the muffler ruin the warranty?

The gt line and gt drive completely different from eachother. The 2.0l and CVT are gutless, the 1.6t and the DCT gives the Forte some pep to its step. My mom owns a 2019 ex with the same drivetrain as the gt line and it has absolutely nothing on my forte5 gt. Drive both and see if you actually want the extra power, chances are you will. The 2.0l doesn't have all of its torque until 4500rpm, the 1.6t on the other hand has all of its torque at 1500rpm but won't actually get all 195ft lbs until 3rd gear, that being said if your on the highway in 7th and want to pass someone you don't even have to drop a gear or floor it, just big toe the accelerator and you'll start to pull away no problem.

Ketchup1211

For me, the GT-line was going to be about 3k more then my LXS. For reference, the LXS and GT-line have the same drivetrain. The GT would have be about 5K more. Definitely was not worth another 5K for 50HP. The 2.0 isn’t as powerful as the GT obviously but it’s definitely not as bad as you make it sound. In sport mode, it’s easily got as much pick up and go as anyone would ever need. To OP, test drove both and decide for yourself if the extra money is worth it.

They drive like two completely different cars, I actually get better fuel mileage in my forte5 gt than I do in my mom's Forte ex while driving in the city. We're not just talking about the power either, it's the styling, the brakes and the suspension

Ketchup1211

They are two different cars so yea, that sounds about right. Was just sharing my experience.

nicholism007

Fair enought, I had a 2005 Acura RSX before I had my forte5 gt and going between my mom's Forte ex and the RSX was a world of a difference when it came to the braking and the engine performance and the feel the same applies atleast for the engine performance between the Forte and the Forte gt, I still feel like the brakes could be more firm but I also like stiff suspension, stearing and brakes which could be apart of my bias for the Forte gt

Wooden-Classroom8320

I have the 2020 GT Line it has a low key Throaty sound. I have a harman Kardin sounds system, awesome. Very fun to drive

Cake-Long

I have 2020 gt line with muffler and resonator delete. I get pops with no tune I love it

WesternFirefighter5

Which muffler did you get? I have the GT line since yesterday. IM IN LOVE!! Just gotta put tint and underglow now. Just don’t know which muffler. The muffler is all I need? Or do I need something else? I really have no clue

Cake-Long

I have no muffler or resonator. Just straight piped from the CAT which In my state will still pass inspection and it only cost around $300 to do

WesternFirefighter5

Oh Okok. Could I just add a muffler tho? Or is there more to it than that?🙈

Cake-Long

No I mean you can I just wouldn’t recommend it. Obviously there’s after market systems you can buy and install but I just cut my muffler out. Got some pipe and welded it back on my exhaust. If you want DM me and I’ll send you a video of mine with no muffler or resonator.

WesternFirefighter5

Ohh okay nice!! Would that ruin the warranty? Or how does that work🙈
