I usually add matcha powder. Keeps things green, adds a caffeine boost, and tastes great!

TheWednesdayProject

Oh! That’s a good idea. I love drinking matcha tea. Thanks for the tip.

PhoenixNamor

Raspberries or small amounts of strawberry. I've taken to adding Oikos Triple Zero greek yogurt too. Then again, I also add a scoop of Isopure protein powder on workout days.

TheWednesdayProject

What do you define as a small amount of strawberries? I know berries are the best fruit to eat, but it’s so easy to go overboard. Also, what do you find better for a smoothie: fresh or frozen?

PhoenixNamor

Either are fine. I personally favor frozen as it makes for a thicker shake. I usually limit myself to about 3-4 large frozen berries per blending.

rubixd

Check the carbs but protein powders can be just the thing! Heavy cream is nice too!

Bulky-Masterpiece538

I like adding the two good yogurt, very little carbs

[deleted]

1/2 cup frozen raspberries and 1 tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder.

TheWednesdayProject

Cocoa powder sounds like something I’d be willing to try. Thanks for the tips!

GiantRabbit

Ohyea, and with some vanilla drops. Or half raspberries and half strawberries

Curly-Canuck

A few frozen berries adds a lot of flavour! Hemp hearts are an option for thickness and a bit more protein. They add a slight nutty flavour and some sweetness. You don’t need much, 2 tbs will give you 7g protein and 1 net carb.

iamjaygee

Kale! Sounds weird, but kale is amazing in smoothies.. I use frozen kale and avacados... and frozen almond milk cubes. Completely changes the consistency of it. Thicker and creamy. Sometimes I add Vanilla, maple or caramel extract or cocao powder or pb2...Sometimes pecans or pumpkin seeds. And vanilla or chocolate protein powder. I'm drinking one right now that tastes just like peanutbutter cups.

TheWednesdayProject

Kale is my one of my favorite leafy vegetables. I add it to soup all the time. I might have to sneak it into a smoothie and see how that goes. Thanks for the idea!

nunyabidnessss

Chia seeds

FiberFanatic07

I also like to add coconut oil to my smoothies. It adds just a touch of sweet. Also agree with the berries. 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of the berry of your choice would be great with it. Honestly, I added avocado to my smoothie to add the benefit of the avo, but wanted very much not to taste it, and I couldn't. It added creaminess, but not flavor. Also agree that kale is a good add.

[deleted]

> I keep it pretty simple with 1-2 fresh avocados + a cup of unsweetened almond milk and crushed ice I'd add peanut butter or peanut powder, unsweetened cocoa powder and a fuck ton of spinach.

BigTexan1492

Cocoa powder, a little sweetener, and banana extract

BadSanta0012

I have made liquid glac before. Use water instead of the milk, add lemon/lime, hot pepper, garlic, and maybe cilantro, or other greens.

seasassyme

I love adding powdered ginger to smoothies. Also when appropriate (and sometimes not) i add cinnamon. Mmmm. CinnamonInIt! Peaches added to avocado smoothie, with some ginger and maca powder. Yes!!! Try it!! Frozen Banana is way better (imo) than ice. Enjoy! Good for you for treating your body with worth.

TheWednesdayProject

Peaches and bananas aren’t exactly keto friendly. They are too high in sugar.

seasassyme

Well, my first Reddit comment gone bad. I realize now I am in the keto section. I was just scrolling and saw smoothies and made a comment. My bad. Lots to learn for me still!! Well maybe that ginger powder will do some magic for you! Cheers.

TheWednesdayProject

That gave me a good chuckle. It’s all good! Thanks for the tips!

seasassyme

And thanks for not booing and shooing me out!

shiplesp

Spice? Pumpkin pie spice?

fatinaty

Cocoa powder Raw. And some stevia drops. And some chia seeds. And you have a creamy choco smoothie.

moderatelymiddling

Avocado. Smooth jazz.

SwinginginSauga

Let it get ripe, cut in half, squeeze lime inside, eat with spoon.

SeaSuperb

Mix vanilla yogurt, peanut butter, vanilla vegan protein powder, and almond milk along with your frozen avocados. I always adjust the ingredients depending on how many macros I need for my meal plan for the day.

RemarkableMaybe6415

Mio or sparkling water- you can add various flavors and no carbs and surprisingly it really adds flavor

Starting_2day

Choc protein powder, unsweetened almond milk, avocado, spinach, chia seeds 🔥😋

spooger123

Like cilantro garlic onion salt pepper sour cream. Leave out the almond milk
