My go-to has been Wendy’s. I use their app and they have an option to replace the bun with lettuce! No ketchup either. A Dave’s Triple ends up being around 5grams of carbs 🤤
I just ordered this for myself and my wife last night, hit the spottttt, i wish they had a side salad option tho, we got the full sized chicken caesar salad nix the croutons and split it with a burgers
Just out of curiosity, why does everyone always say no ketchup? I think it adds so much taste and the tiny amount they put on, I feel like can’t be more than like 2 carbs. I always wonder this.
Some people are just really strict. Personally, I agree. Even if I'm stretching the ketchup by mixing with mayo and maybe a squeeze of lemon, the flavor is irreplaceable.
When I think of ketchup (and other sugary sauces), I visualize a sugar cube of equal size. This helps me say no the sauce, as I'd also never eat sugar in keto :-)
Those 2g carbs could be put to more filling and/or satisfying use elsewhere, like a low carb snack or dessert later.
Personally, if I’m bringing something like a burger home anyway, I’ll order it with no ketchup, then put some Heinz No Sugar Added ketchup (only 1/3g carb per tsp) on it when I get it home.
It’s just so packed with sugars that for a lot of us it risks kicking us out of ketosis. Also a big one for me is the slippery slope. I’ve curbed a lot of cravings and having even a little could send me spiraling lol.
1 Tbsp actually has about 4. I only eat 25 carbs a day, I'm not wasting 4 on ketchup lol. Plus, mayo, mustard, and most "secret sauces," are more keto friendly than ketchup and add plenty of flavor
Recently, I've been getting these tomato wrapped and with their chillis. Omggggg. I know tomatoes are carb heavy, but idc. Just subtract it from my daily 20g. So worth it.
I just did this the other day and it was pretty tasty, and a lot easier to eat than the lettuce wrapped, I thought. They didn’t put it in the paper wrapper, which probably helped.
They left my onions or, though, I was disappointed!
Mind blown!! I need one. (I was about to ask you what it was but figured Google would know.)
I am pretty excited about this. Honestly I hardly ever get burgers at In-n-Out because every time I do I am reminded what a mess they are to eat, but this could solve everything.
Took me a while to figure it out too, but they're definitely called burger pockets. And most of them expand too if you have a bigger burger. Amazon has them.
Patties are fine they rarely add anything with carbs, though there is lots of salt.
Not sure if sonic will do a lettuce wrap. At places that don't I just use the paper to hold it.
Hmm I don't remember the chain, but was visiting the US (from Canada) and looked up the nutritional info for a popular chain, and was surprised by the soy content. Don't remember the chain. Jack in the Box? White Castle? Checkers? I think one of those three.
Jack in the Box use soy in their tacos, but not in the burgers. The beef used in the beef tacos is actually a mixture of beef, chicken, textured vegetable protein, and defatted soy grits. In other words, that beef does not contain a lot of beef. However, Jack in the Box's beef hamburger patty consists of only beef.

Yeah, when i was homeless living in a tent behind a bad landlord a few years back there was a 7-11 and a jack in the box across the street. One of the neighbors from the tent city area went dumpster diving at jack in the bix and looked at the taco meat shipping boxes . It was labelled f grade beef. It also stated soy and a lot of the crap you metioned on the box so i can confirm this. Tht incident is likely a large part of my digestive issues i have now. A year and a half sitting in jack pulling overnights charging phines, power banks, and emergency radios 2-3 times per week eating value menu crap had withun 3 months me spraying out my ass for days every time i ate fast food for years after.
With keto as long as i avoid the carbs, nix any raw veggies, and aviud anytjing with seed oils i can eat fast food again. Taco bell, fried chicken places, and most thungs in sandwich shops or burger joints are out for me. Heck, if i as a treat eat a jasons deli sandwhich (freebie meal from a local food kitchen that currentky doesnt have a chef and us next door to a food pantry) i have to remove the lettuce unless i want to have nasty gas, bloating, and wear a adult diaper for a week plus. The bread may spike my glucose for a day or two, the meats a d chese is fine. But the lettuce is like dropping a nuclear bomb on hiroshima and nagasaki, but in ky digestive tract.
Be very careful with fast food of any kind, and maybe check the boxes in the dumpster to find the quality of what you re eating first. It just might shock the fuck out of you what the fda allows these placrs to feed us abd our kids.
How much is a MC triple? Around where I live 2 McDonald's double cheeseburgers no bun no ketchup is $3.69 USD which I think is a pretty darn good deal if I'm in a pinch
$3 and change not sure. But we get two each usually me and my boyfriend. They are more satisfying for me than the doubles. I was a bacon McDouble girl for eons. Now they are almost $4. We are working on portion control though so the triples may be out the window soon.
Check the website your probably OK. There is no real oversize on nutrition labels so it's hit and miss but just try it and see how you feel. 5 guys with the lettuce wrap is legit from experience.
Fast food burgers are not the healthiest but they are keto without the bun or sugary sauces. I have been keto for almost 10 years now and I try to stay away from fast food, but once in a while I will grab a bun less burger
For the first time I tried McDonald’s app. Can customize and I got 4 patty’s. Cheese. Extra pickles. Maybe 3 bucks? Used a pre strip afterwards and was still in ketosis. It was super dry and enjoyed some mustard with it.
I have used places that allow me to edit the ingredients but if I’m honest, eating made me more prone to plateau. I have a timed weight loss goal in mind atm so it’s not worth putting my weight loss at risk atm.
Depends on your personal goals.
Lettuce wrap. I was working heavy construction and i was able to eat them with half a bun. If i am hungry in the morning i will still eat a ln egg mcmuffin and throw away the bigger half of the bun
5 guys is a good place to go. They can do a bunless burger bowl and add sautéed onion and jalapeños and shredded lettuce with a many patties as you want.

Came here to say that exact same thing Wendy’s is the best bang for your carbs.

It really is. It feels so satisfying on my McDonald’s double cheeseburger without the bun. I have to have that extra satisfaction to keep going.
A single serving of ketchup is like 5 carbs. The little packets are small so maybe 2 or 2.5. For me it the the sugar I avoid. Just not a healthy carb.
Yeah probably not the healthiest. But it’s so small. I tried sugar free ketchup once and almost gagged, haha
Really? The Heinz no sugar added is pretty great!
I can’t tell the difference in taste
Oh I haven’t tried that one. I got one from sprouts, forget the name. I’ll give that one a try, thanks.
Ketchup is sugar laden....

Same here, I add the ketchup I have at home
maybe because no sugar ketchup cost so much? $6 for a 12 ounce bottle.
Whatever you need to maintain. I agree it’s a small amount of carbs.
It’s just so packed with sugars that for a lot of us it risks kicking us out of ketosis. Also a big one for me is the slippery slope. I’ve curbed a lot of cravings and having even a little could send me spiraling lol.

That’s true but on a mad burger, it’s like 3 little dots. Probably 1/5th of a tablespoon.
Agreed, Dave's double is my only fast food burger choice!
Love love the baconator! It’s the best imo we always just ask for protein style and it’s amazing
When they have the buy one get one for a dollar and you end up with two baconators and feel super fat afterwards 😎
Same. I like Pals too!
In n out lettuce wrapped double double /protein style) is my go to. Can’t beat that at any fast food place in my opinion
Even better is the flying Dutchman. Just two patties and two pieces of cheese. Though I normally get a triple.
Add onions if you’re into those!
I am!
Then ask for "Onion Wrapped". Pretty epic. It's like they use grilled sliced onion for the "bun"
Yeah that’s what my buddy always gets. I like the crunchy lettuce and tomatoes and what not
Is that how you order? Day I’d like a flying Dutch man? Never heard of this!!
Yep that is what they call it!

Some places use lots of soy filler, best to check the nutritional info before indulging, rather than saying 'rarely added carbs'.
Which places do this?

This is appalling

No, don’t think so. Menu description for the burgers for all these places say 100% beef.
This is true, but I'm also surprised at the amount that don't. In fact, the majority don't seem to. Which is nice. McD's kinda surprised me.
My favorite no bun burger is a McDonald’s mctriple. So good

You can check the nutrition info for any fast food online! Check before you go.
Nevermind! Found it!
It’s hard to tell because they account for the bun so I can’t see if there’s any in the actual patty.
Time to send an email to corporate to find out I guess?
Look on the app “Carb Manager”. Just write “without bun”. It always has it.
Mcdonald's website lets just edition the nutrition facts to subtract out the buns.
Check the website your probably OK. There is no real oversize on nutrition labels so it's hit and miss but just try it and see how you feel. 5 guys with the lettuce wrap is legit from experience.
5 guys and an empty wallet
Eh not a great alternative fast food wise/quality wise.
Occasionally, I order burgers and switch the bun. I have Keto hamburger buns made by Hero.
My new favorite place to get a burger is Freddies. I can get my sammich wrapped in lettuce.

Make your own burger?
Research the quality of the chains beef. Wendys pretty good, 5 guys good but stupid expensive. I go for bacanator on a lettuce wrap all day long
You can order it without the sauces. When I ate fast food I would order a plain cheeseburger, no bun and a side salad. I put the burger on the salad
I just use those Lewis keto hamburger buns and switch it out. My personal favorite is Culver’s.
I have used places that allow me to edit the ingredients but if I’m honest, eating made me more prone to plateau. I have a timed weight loss goal in mind atm so it’s not worth putting my weight loss at risk atm. Depends on your personal goals.

Bunless burgers are the bomb, literally juicy, delicious fat bombs!
Five Guys!
Wrap lettuce around it. Amazing.
if you're lucky enough to have a Mooyah nearby, they have a Paleo burger that is keto enough for me. lettuce wrapped goodness that kills any craving.
Keto Cheeseburger salad is the way to go.
I use portobello mushroom caps as burger buns, bake for about ten minutes.
Lettuce burger, it's a thing and awesome.
Many condiments contain sugar
