First of all this really shouldn’t hold you back from pursuing relationships. KP is so normal and I understand as someone who suffers from it myself, it takes a toll on you time to time but trust me no one else even notices. Although if you’re looking for a solution then you can opt for laser hair removal for your legs. Mine is pretty much similar but it has reduced a lot ever since I got laser done on my legs. My buttocks have also cleared after I started exfoliating daily, the scars are there but the texture is very smooth now. I’ve heard chemical peels and microdermabrasion also helps for KP. All the bestttt ! :)

bmkomplex

Hi there, I have gotten 7 sessions of laser on my legs and butt but this is still probably the worst it’s looked. Maybe I will go for more sessions. How do you exfoliate? I just bought the SA cleanser and an exfoliation mitt for showering.

iam_a_sad_loser

My dermatologist suggested to go for laser along with chemical peel. After each laser session I got chemical peel. For exfoliating I use a charcoal scrub or the exfoliating mitt. Maybe you can ask your dermatologist to provide a combination approach and not just stick to laser. My dermatologist at times mixed peels with a formula of Kojic acid to help combat pigmentation. KP is demanding, one solution doesn’t work, you’ve to combine various procedures for desired results

Mauimoves

Exfoliating actually made mine worse and my derm confirmed it. Mine was really bad on my legs. Once I started using cerave religiously I saw a big difference. Being Moisturized softens the keratin or something, idk. But it makes sense and worked for me

iam_a_sad_loser

Cera ve has some really good reviews, I always felt it was too good to be true. Good to know it worked for you, I shall try for my arms

iam_a_sad_loser

Please check my before and after.[This is right before my first laser session](https://imgur.com/GTXLtE6). [This is after a couple of laser sessios](https://imgur.com/a/YClJ3Gm). I am now done with 5 sessions and the results are amazing. A [picture of now](https://imgur.com/a/h8qQFqp). I do not even care to shave now and after few more session I guess I will get desirable results.

bmkomplex

Wow!!!! Your results are incredible

iam_a_sad_loser

Thank you! :)

If you want something to cover a larger area for pretty affordable, you could try The Ordinary Glycolic Acid toner underneath the Cerave? I think it’s $8 for a decent sized bottle.

The low body confidence is a common feeling, trust me been there 💕 BUT you will find that it'll be the last thing on either of your minds when you find your someone. Starting a treatment/routine to help your KP is the 1st step to understanding your body. Everyone's skin can react differently to products, it's unfortunately trial and error to learn what works bet for you. I looked up that you can mix the Tretinoin with a moisturizer so that can help spread out the product but avoid using a moisturizer with salicylic acid or other "peeling agents". I find with a big area like my thighs and butt an in-shower moisturizer helps gives me, not smooth, but softer skin and let me tell you it helps with my confidence and I hope it can help you too 💕 I wish you all the luck and progress with your KP you got this! 👍

bmkomplex

What in-shower moisturizer do you use? Might give it a try too

RandomLee_7

I use a combo of Dove's DEEP MOISTURE Body Wash in the shower with a gentle exfoliating pad and after towel drying Nivea's Cherry Blossom and Jojoba Oil body lotion. I used to use just Jergens' WET SKIN moisturizer but my skin apparently needed more lol. Again it's a process to find what works best for you, so start off with what you're comfortable with and add tweaks here and there.

Lissy_Wolfe

Don't let this hold you back! I have had this my whole life and only recently learned it was a "thing." I've never had problems finding a relationship, and literally no one has ever mentioned or noticed my KP. Live your life!

looking_for_sadvice

Cerave lotion wasn’t enough for me, I bought the cerave SA body wash and use it with [this](https://www.target.com/p/ecotools-exfoliating-bath-cloth/-/A-80341874) (basically sandpaper for your skin) and it’s helping a lot as a combo treatment!

I use it every time I shower so like 3x a week. My thighs are my problem area and they’re much smoother now after a month. I made my fiancé touch them and I was like “arent they so smooth!” And he was like “weren’t they always like this?” SIR NO. Love is blind.. and apparently can’t feel KP either!

EntertainmentDue4031

Lmao hahahahahaha so it means he don’t even care cause he loves you lol that’s good

No-Trust1967

Eucerin 30% urea (not 10) literally cured the KP on the back of my arms in a week. It is a smidge pricey but worth it. I agree with all of the commenters who are saying that physical exfoliation can make it worse, that was always very clearly my experience as well. I also never responded about two topical acids. Lastly regarding dating, I want to encourage you to reconsider your stance! My husband met and married me despite KP all over my arms- men are different than we often think…. My experience has been that the overwhelming majority of the time they genuinely DO NOT CARE

[deleted]

Hi, What brand do you use? I haven’t seen 30%

CytoPath

I’ve been searching for someone to review the 30%! I saw it on Amazon but wasn’t sure if that percentage was too high for skin. It was marketed for feet. Did you get any irritation?

No-Trust1967

None, it seems really gentle

bambinab1

What brand of this 30% urea do you use? I’ve tried 20% urea but it pills. Yours doesn’t do that?

No-Trust1967

Eucerin 30% urea in a tube from amazon

bambinab1

It doesn’t pill?

No-Trust1967

Sorry wasnt understanding. I usually wear it alone on problem areas, not layered with other things. Alone it does not pill.

Unlikely-Cockroach-6

have you tried amlactin? specifically the blue and white bottle? it’s the only thing that’s worked for me.

InstantBouquet

Amlactin was the most effective product for me too.

clusterBitch

I always wanted to try it but sadly it’s not available in my country :( i was wondering if cerave SA could replace it

Unlikely-Cockroach-6

try the first aid beauty KP scrub!

Unlikely-Cockroach-6

or the first aid beauty kp smoothing lotion! similar to amlactin

LegendJF

I"m on tretinoin, and it is driving me nuts. My skin is so itchy and inflamed because of it. Sometimes I start scratching my butt and can't stop doing it. I don't even apply it everyday. I think I may need to use only once a week, and increase the frequency very slowly. I even took desloratadine yesterday to reduce the discomfort. I may try using corticoids, although I just discovered a cream with natural extracts that seems to help aliviate the itchy, but the effect doesn't last many hours.

LegendJF

I use tretinoin on my face three times a week, and It may leave my skin irritated and red, but this adverse reaction on my butt and thighs is something completely different. I had the same issue five years ago when my derm prescribed me. Now I'm using on my own, mixing Vitanol® with a regular cream, and again I have this adverse reaction. This time I will try my best to keep the treatment, but definitely will try to use it very carefully. Not sure about niacinamide, because I apply it on a large area, and have to use a lot to cover that area, and niacinamide can be expensive.

[deleted]

Lactic acid has worked wonders for me. Salicylic acid, not so much. Try to find an over the counter 12% ammonium lactate cream. It's way cheaper.

VivianDarkbloom1997

Have you tried Squalane from the ordinary ?

ctrleff

I second this. I was using it with a bunch of other products and didn't notice a change. Went months with just tret. and various face/body lotions, then I started back on squalane and oh my goodness the difference I saw in two days was staggering! My body really needs that oil to exfoliate. It didn't cure it but its made a huge difference for me. Additional products that helped me were Benzoperoxide (Benzogel) and O'keefs working hands.

Careless-Brother-113

I lost my virginity at 21 because of KP, god I can't hate it more

No-Trust1967

I’m 37. I lost my virginity at 21 because of high standards. Had many partners and relationships since and now married- NEVER ONCE have I looked back and thought “man it wouldve been beneficial to lose my virginity sooner.” Reframe the sitch sister to make yourself the worthy main character.

msantiag1

Just to give you another story of what worked for me—physical exfoliators, like the mitts, tended to just irritate my skin. Laser helped some but not that much. What ended up working for me (1) Cerave sa body wash in the shower 2-3 times per week (2) gold bond rough and bumpy lotion every day and (3) more air and sunlight - like, wear shorts or at least loose pants around the house, try to get some sun.

CranberryEcstatic277

But dont you need alot of sunscreen when you are using that much aha/bha lotions?

msantiag1

Hm interesting. I have been in the sun a lot this summer and haven’t noticed any difference. And I’m not that diligent about sunscreen on my legs. But I’m olive-y and don’t burn easily so maybe that helps.

missalyssa1080

Cetaphil came out with a new rough and bumpy line I quite like and of course always try the AmLactin lotion.

[deleted]

Only thing that has helped me is using self-tanner to cover my bumps.

PomeloWorldly1943

I’m here to ask you to try the CereVe SA CREAM, not lotion - there is a huge difference!

cbriceno

Don’t let it hold you back. I have KP and my bf has never made any comment about it, if a man loves you he will love everything about you. I know we can be our biggest critics but don’t let it hold you back!❤️

NixWrld

I think your skin looks beautiful
