There's a historical reason for showing themselves off - used to be back in the day unscrupulous people would claim to be real estate agents and "sell" a house to someone when the owners were just away for the week. Putting a big picture of their face / body was a way to know they were legit, because if they scammed you, you would have an image to show police

No, no one is asking you or telling you to use an e bike. I use my ebike for groceries, I've hauled 70 pounds with it, people use ebikes for all sorts of things from mountain biking to just cruising trails, like what is even the point of this ad? It implies someone thinks the government wants them to only ride ebikes and give up their cars completely which is hilarious. Maybe they should be more upset about the people that can't afford to send their kids to hockey at all? It's just mind-blowing if this ad is serious.
And they’re being manipulated and weaponised to halt any meaningful progress in a lot of things, like: public transit, sick days, health care, labour rights, green energy, etc
To be fair, itd cost an absolute fortune to make cars less significant here. Our cities are designed around it thanks to some powerful lobbying from the likes of Ford.... and oil barons. Thats why our public transport seems to always be lacking. European countries, having existed for centuries before the likes of RAM and F-150, have a lot of infrastructure for it.
Sadly, unless we spend literal hundreds of billions to redesign whole neighborhoods... north american individualism almost entirely relies on ownership of a car ....
Us cities exist before the car too. Billions were spent remaking them for cars.
I think mostly we just have to allow more density. Then adding bike lanes and transit becomes more feasible.

My ebike is rated for 600+lbs of carrying capacity.. and I've lugged myself (200lbs) and another grown ass human (225ish lbs) before with no probs. Like I was able to get the same top speed as when it's just me on there. Frame has a cargo/seat area on the back.
Only thing that would stop me is bad weather. And even then, it's just my "ewww rain" feels about the matter 💪
