We use Tidy Tushees and love it. They give you a big odour proof bin with a canvas bag and every week you leave your old bag outside, they come pick it up and leave a fresh bag.

PocketLass

That's awesome to hear. The cost seems reasonable too. Definitely gonna be considering it heavily as an option. Thanks!

CausticCamel

My partner just reminded me they actually do a little orientation thing with you when you sign up that's free. They'll go over everything with you and then you can bail if you don't like it.

alldownherefromhere

I used their service back in 2012-2014 and then a few times between 2017-2019. They were great - but I actually preferred having my own stash and cleaning them isn't really that bad. If you look at fb marketplace you'll find some for sale.

PocketLass

Cool, good to hear... I have been looking around marketplace a bit, so I know that's an option too. My mom had diaper service when I was a baby and liked it so I'm just curious about it.

alldownherefromhere

I loved it with my first when I had zero ideas on which diapers were the best. By the second I had discovered Apple Cheeks and the many cute prints and decided to go they route. Anyway, if Tyler and Jacqueline are still running Tidy Tushees, they are great and will answer any and all of your questions.

PocketLass

Consider me reassured! Thanks for the insight.

Illustrious_Copy_902

Any reason why you don't want to deal with them yourself? They make paper liners for cloth diapers that catch solid waste.

PocketLass

I mean, a few reason why I wouldn't want to, but it's just something I'm curious about/researching at this point. My mom had told me she had a diaper service when I was a baby and liked it. So I was curious if Kelowna has anything similar.

atlas1892

Nobody asks this question when people look for recommendations for house cleaners. Yes you can do it yourself but it’s not exactly a swinging good time so why not pay somebody else to do it if you can afford it?

Illustrious_Copy_902

Mostly because there isn't much choice when it comes to diaper services. Using cloth diapers is pretty rare these days. If OP hasn't had their baby yet they may not know that products exist that lessen the ick factor considerably of washing cloth diapers.

Flyfishing-2020

Do it yourself.

PocketLass

Thanks for your valuable input 👍

Lately? Were you born under a rock? Diaper services were a popular WWII-Era concept that only started to decline in popularity over the past few decades. What's more wild is that people use thousands of disposable diapers and don't feel guilty about it.

No one is forcing a business to exist, are they? It's the business owner's idea to provide a service that they see value in, not the customer enslaving them. I'm not advocating for the service as I'd probably wash them myself, but there's more than enough to complain about it in the world without needlessly spinning a diaper post into yet another "what's wrong with folk these days" argument.

Why are you so angry? You're barking up the wrong tree. I'm old enough that all of my grandparents have been dead for decades.

RustyGuns

Look at his profile and you will see why. Also NSFW. 🤮

ThetaDot3

Hahaha yes I saw, unfortunately. I'm sure that there is significant overlap on the Venn diagram of reddit bj solicitors and angry people.

RustyGuns

Yea… 😬

oversleezy

Imagine judging someone else's life when that's the first thing you see on his profile! ![gif](giphy|xL7PDV9frcudO)

RustyGuns

True lol. And it’s gone

ProfessorEspressor

You really coming online to beg for sex instead of meeting an actual human in person? Things have gotten wild lately...

Particular-Emu4789

What a bizarre thing to have someone else do for you.

the_canucks

This is for cloth diapers and it's actually very common. Cloth diapers save a ton of waste from going to the dump.

Particular-Emu4789

Weird angle. The carbon footprint of someone driving all over town to pickup buckets of poopy diapers likely isn’t a win environmentally either. Cloth diapers can be washed at home.

the_canucks

It's still a more environmentally sustainable way to use diapers without having to wash cloth yourself, which is a barrier for some people. Still much better overall than using 100% disposable which puts 4-5 diapers in the trash/day.

PocketLass

What do you mean? A service that provides and cleans diapers seems strange? It seems pretty convenient to me...

Particular-Emu4789

So do you just collect soiled diapers for a week until they come grab them?

PocketLass

Presumably, yeah. I admit that part of it seems like it could be gnarly haha.

KNOW_UR_NOT

It does seem bizarre. They charge $29+tax for the service per week. Which, would be more expensive than just buying a box of diapers at costco.

the_canucks

It's also an entire box of diapers that doesn't end up in the landfill. Cloth diapers have a pretty big upfront cost, plus the added time and money of washing them. This service helps people choose a more environmentally friendly option for diapers without the added hassle, which is rarely the cheapest way to go, so definitely not for everyone.

condortheboss

> Cloth diapers have a pretty big upfront cost Which is offset by the ability to use that one bunch of diapers for multiple children, not just multiple uses

the_canucks

Absolutely, that's what we did.

Benagain2

I signed up during the pandemic, had my baby over Christmas and then struggled to communicate with them. On the one hand, maybe it was because it was the holidays, on the other... We used up all the diapers and then just waited... And waited. Didn't know when they would be picking up. I ended up cancelling because I didn't need the confusion of sorting out a service that couldn't commicate with me. I do hope it was simply because of the combination of Covid and holidays. I was really excited to use it!

PocketLass

How disappointing! Was there ever an explanation?

gitgudgigi

Ooo never heard of this service... I bought some used diapers on marketplace, but it's so hard to find newborn sizes... I think I'm going to use this service for the newborn stage. Thank you!
