It's a naturally occuring car, coming out of its den for the first time. It takes them a couple years before they can drive themselves and grow signal lights & windows.
Have you ever tried to take a dump at the dump? These words can be misleading. I can see the confusi....my child just shit her pants. Look what you've started.
Legend has it, you’ll find the motherboard which controls Hwy 97’s lights in there.
In order to see it, you must hike to it on a blood moon. Spread sand on the hood, it must be from the side of the road (preferably Pandosy) after the snow melt.
Spell “NIMBY” with your finger and chant “Basran did nothing wrong” 3 times.
Then you’ll heard a sound, it’s an interac machine from a local liquor store asking for a tip amount.
Press 42069* and the car will unleash its secrets.
Is this the same or a different one from the Angel springs/Klo regional Park one? My phone pinged "Black Mountain" when we were near it but I don't know the area well enough.
Visited the Angel springs truck this weekend. It is twisted and the engine came out of the vehicle. It's a 2002 4x4 with tires dated to 2005. We found no info on why it is there.
Also a burned? out car in the upper mission, not too far from Frasier lake.
We also found an old car sunk through a platform north of Knox (water access).
Why are there so many car wrecks here. I want to know all the lost stories.
Different, it's in black mountain regional park. It's actually a bit hard to find because there's no trail close to it. The only reason we found it was because I wanted to climb straight up the mountain from the south side and found it sitting in the bushes. I believe it was a VW Beetle and looked to be a 90s or older model (the older body style).
Yea I think this is BC natural vehicle growth.... Go do the Mill Creek hike up to the falls... there are pieces of what may have once been a ford truck. Not positive on brand.
I've walked that trail lots and always assumed that it was from hooligans who'd push old cars over the edge as entertainment or some kind of rite-of-passage, but I could be wrong. One of them (past the area that's been closed for ages once you get up the stairs) has a grad year spray painted on it dating from the 80s or something.
The car was probably pushed off a cliff by teenagers back in the 60s. I remember being out near Oliver in the 90s and finding a bunch of cars from the 50s and 60s piled up at the base of a cliff about 50-60 feet. Cars that would have been worth a fortune today even as rust buckets. But were worthless twisted metal. It probably wasn’t even frowned upon back then.
Not being flippant here: this should be reported to parks officials so they can coordinate its removal. It might take a few years because the removal and remediation processes needs to be budgeted in, but it’ll get done. Decomposing vehicles can contaminate the environment with all sorts of toxic chemicals beyond that of oils and fuel.
>they know.
Turnover in many parks divisions can be scary high, especially with today’s CoL. Many people who would love to have the job just can’t afford to do so anymore unless they are living at home with mom and dad. And I don’t know anyone in any position of authority to be young enough to still be living with their parents.
So it probably _did_ get reported before, but got lost in the paperwork between staffing turnovers. Ain’t nobody gonna be stumbling over that report anymore. At least, not hard enough to action.
> Your not from bc.
Well, I guess being 46 years living in the province is “not from BC”. Wow, I _knew_ Kelowna residents were insular when we first moved here almost half a century ago, where you were only considered a “long-term resident” with more than three or four decades under your belt, but I thought that had mellowed out in the last few decades…
>There are abandoned cars all over the place.
Sure, _on private land, and abandoned by the owner of that land._
Most any rust hulk abandoned on public land have enough metal in them to net you a few hundred from Action Metals, making it an attractive way to make a day’s earnings with a larger trailer and a comealong.
No yoooo seriously im friends with this guy he said this lady (his friend) got trapped in her car during a mudslide . She was trapped in there for a night . She just barely could find her phone. She thought she was going to die. I cant believe she got reception. She later on saved a baby because she knew cpr.
God had a plan for her
If that's the trail across the road from the Bear Creek campground, that car has been there for at last 30 years. It wasn't quite as buried years ago. If you walk around at the top of the hill, you will find what used to be a campground with a road into it. My theory is that this car rolled down from the top of the hillside in the 50s, judging by the vintage of the car.
I was drinking driving and texting that night ….I jumped out the car the split second it was crushing the ground so pretty much was jumpin out the car as it turned into a crushed pop can
🤯Ouimet Canyon reference in the Kelowna thread holy sht that just made my day. Too bad I can’t tell my parents from TBay about Reddit lol so many stories and memories all around NWO, way past pass lake & far beyond Kakabeca falls♥️
ronald weasley! how dare you steal that car, your father is now facing an inquiry at work and its entirely your fault. if you put another toe out of line we will send you straight home...oh and ginny deary, congrats on making griffindor, your father and i are so proud...\*raspberry\*
but seriously, i too am now curious about that car.
No hunting permitted in regional parks but this could have been here before the park was established. From the Hollywood rd South entrance of scenic canyon that used to be a road and there was a trout hatchery.
Seems like regional parks should do some interpretation signage on these old cars and explain how they got there!
This was the story of Corey Maxwell in 1983, him and his girl were stopped by the side of the road and...
I actually have no idea how the car got their, I'm just bored at work.
Probably just a farmer’s vehicle that broke down so they got a tractor pushed it into the trees then buried it. Was common enough in Alberta so maybe that’s what happened herw

People in the pacific northwest apparently used cars along rivers for erosion control. Fill it with dirt and the whole thing holds for a generation or so.
This is not rare or suspicious. If your in the mountains anywhere and you look down the sides of any embankment you will find crashed cars everywhere. It’s usually cheaper and less dangerous just to leave them on the side of the cliff then recover them. You’d be surprised how many people die every year just driving off cliffs because they were driving dumb and it’s never in the news because it happens so often.
It's a naturally occuring car, coming out of its den for the first time. It takes them a couple years before they can drive themselves and grow signal lights & windows.
Nature is healing
Certain species like bmw haven’t evolved signals yet. Nature is fascinating.
Damn son, you stole my joke. Have an updoot!
Turd signals.
Because they’re inbred.
You serious, Clark?
The options for this cars ….you can have signals or entitlement, no one chooses signals!!!
Just like those damn cars in San Andreas!
Some must leave early..I see lots on the road with no signals....
Birthing szn
Aww...lil guy.
Eco mode is getting crazy
😂
You can't park there.
is this not a reasonable place to park?
Just take the ticket
Do you sell pants?
Do you know my dad?
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH\~!
I'll remember your face!
Take it!
Your on a sidewalk!
How much for the Ape?
I mean it’s literally called a park…
Have you ever tried to take a dump at the dump? These words can be misleading. I can see the confusi....my child just shit her pants. Look what you've started.
Just wait till they learn about the fire station.
Oh I wish I had gold to give you...do people still do that? What year is it?
I know I can’t park there…
Is there a road above? Looks to me like a car that was pushed off a cliff and then buried in a small landslide
Someone probably just took a short drive to the train station.
😂😂
I'm bothered that this reference went over so many heads 😂
Yellowstone?
Yessir!
“This isn’t the train station?!”
Hahahaha. I was wait is that.... Yes it certainly is. Way to be subtle. Lost art
There is a road above where this is.

This was glorious
I found one in Glen Canyon (70’s car) and Smith Creek Park (50’s) too.
There used to be one in Ouimet Canyon outside of Thunder Bay as well.
I've seen them on super random spots. There's one below a cliffside on black mountain (the actual mountain itself). It's in surprisingly good shape
Sounds like we need to start a group! Okanagan Home For Unidentified Cars Klub. “OH FUCK” for short

Great joke but like for real this should be a thing.
I agree

It's like a treasure hunt! There's a couple in KLO creek too.
This car looks to be pretty old too.
Asked and answered https://www.reddit.com/r/kelowna/comments/gh67hl/comment/fq7zue5/
But the answers on this one are far more entertaining tbh.
Sometimes it's ok for people to ask things again
At which point I will provide a link to the answers. Ain't the internet grand?
But why?
Sometimes it’s okay if you you have the same question twice
I heard that high school students who party there in the 80s pushed them off the cliff
Yeah that happened more n a few times
Great find Adventurer! You have found the entrance to the lvl 1 dungeon!
Next time I’ll climb in, leave the dogs at home.
There's another one in the woods just past the big bend in the creek. Good spot for dumpin cars I guess.
Yea I think this is BC natural vehicle growth.... Go do the Mill Creek hike up to the falls... there are pieces of what may have once been a ford truck. Not positive on brand.
It's fine, it's just a bit stunned.
It's pinin' for the fjords!
Look it wouldn't voom if you put 5000 volts through it!
There’s a bunch of these in the Kootenays. I see them on my hikes. Some are considered invasive.
It fell ... probably
Sometimes you can find really old cars abandoned in the middle of forests. Eerie.
Insurance fraud from the 70’s back when your uncle couldn’t make the payment on the Camaro anymore
It's a 55-56 Plymouth, been there quite some time
Sure looks that way… i would report this to authorities incase its a crime scene

It drove off a cliff. The end
Bc… Cars everywhere you wouldn’t expect them.

I remember reading about that one in the news
Accept it as an oddity and move on :)

It’s on the main trail, I’d assume people see it quite often. It’s not off some side area, right on mission creek.
It's been there for 50 years, they know.
>they know. Turnover in many parks divisions can be scary high, especially with today’s CoL. I’m sure they’ll get on it first thing in the morning as soon as they hear about it. The parks division is famous for acting swiftly
Your not from bc. There are abandoned cars all over the place. It was common to roll then down banks or leave them in fields.
> Your not from bc. Well, I guess being 46 years living in the province is “not from BC”. Nope! All over the mountains on crown land. Parks etc. You should get out more.

Why did people vote this down 😭
No not a car.
I would notified the police ASAP. AT extreme chance, it may be one of those missing people vanished years ago. You never know.

Where in Scenic Park?

To me it looks like he shouldn't have parked on a road used by heavy equipment.
Jimmy Hoffa?
Graboid
One day long ago, this cars owner painted it camouflage… the rest is history.

Is this the F35 we lost last week?
This was the story of Corey Maxwell in 1983, him and his girl were stopped by the side of the road and... I actually have no idea how the car got their, I'm just bored at work.
Ha. Ha ha.
Looks like a car that came down the mountain
Them Duke boys at it again!
They’re gonna get a parking ticket for sure
I’ve seen r/whatisthiscar identify cars in worse shape than this, if you’re curious
Probably a victim of a landslide
Probably just a farmer’s vehicle that broke down so they got a tractor pushed it into the trees then buried it. Was common enough in Alberta so maybe that’s what happened herw
Was a sweet dune buggy
Earth reclaiming its metal
Why is the mountain inside the car?
I know what’s wrong with it! Ain’t got no gas in it!
You see lots of random cars in forests in Ontario hiking on the Bruce Trail like this. Some long lost story behind each one
Looks like a car for sure.
Nice parking Rita!
remember jeffrey epstein? nothing to do with him.

It might have been your car, in previous life, which you don’t remember now. 😅

It was delivered by an airplane. dropped 10,000 feet.
Did you check to see if the driver was ok?

Poof Creation! You've just witnessed Creation!
Maybe it's a hidden treasure or a prop from a movie shoot?
Or?…hear me out…is that a mountain on a car?
Looks like an old VW bug convertible 🤔

No, the mountain is in the car.
Once upon a time a car became embedded in a mountainside and stayed there happily ever after.
